The year was 3014. The entire concept of "human" was a fading memory of ordinary bipedal beings from a planet known as Earth. The intelligent life across the Milky Way Galaxy was now so intertwined that any being that walked on two legs and didn't have unique appendages was considered "Human".
The universe, as it turned out, was much more alive than ancient humans had ever been able to imagine. The stars themselves were alive, and were beings known as Stellarians. A Stellarian's "Body" was the star you see twinkling in the night sky, but a Stellarian's "Spirit" was a conscience being at the core of each star, and their role was to bring light to the dark universe.
However, the Stellarians were being threatened by an unseeable force that was known only as "Black Hole". What it actually was, no one really knew. All scientists and astronomers could tell was that Stellarians were dying mysteriously and unexpectedly. Normally, when a Stellarian dies, their body will either collapse on itself and go super nova, or it will expand and shed into a nebula.
But these Stellarians? They were simply vanishing into nothing. No remnants were left to even salvage clues from. Their light would go out in the blink of an eye, and then they were just.... gone.
In order to find a way to protect Stellarians, the Humanoids of the galaxy banded together and developed a series of AI-based Robonoids that they decided to call "Ohboros", based on an ancient Earth name for what was understood to be a god of infinity. (Many scholars believe that a great deal was lost in translation, but much of the evidence to support this claim has been lost to time.)
But the Ohboros could only do so much on their own. In order to truly fulfill their missions, they needed pilots, but not just any pilots. They needed special pilots, known as "Awakeneds", who were Humanoids with specific genetic signatures, that could work with the Ohboros to activate specific abilities needed to protect a Stellarian's Spirit. According to Sirius, the brightest Stellarian in the galaxy, even if their body was lost to the Black Hole, they could revive it as long as their spirit remained unharmed.
This is the story of an ordinary Humanoid who possessed the specific genetic signature needed to be an Awakened of Extraction; one who could pilot an Ohboros into the body of a Stellarian and retrieve their spirit in order to protect them from the Black Hole. That Humanoids name was top secret; they were known only as...

This is the concept for a story called Codename: Pleiades, which is a WIP novel by me, Yuzu! It's still got a lot of important details to hammer out, but I hope to get it finished and published one day. In the meantime, I thought it would be fun to make a pet that uses this concept too!
