When Proton joined the military he left behind everything. He was no longer a person, he was part of a well oiled machine. There was no one by the name of Percy Carver left in the world. Only Agent Proton, professional hit man and officially nothing more than a codename, a number, and a skill. So when he found himself out of the world of secrets and death, it was no wonder that he was lost.

He spent weeks in the small apartment that he had been graciously given access to after his dismissal from his former life. That time he felt like he was wasting away, burning through his savings on fast food and take out to make up for the fact that he couldn't cook to save his life. Not that he had much interest in saving himself at this point anyway.

Distressed as he was, Proton knew he couldn't keep eating up his savings until he wound up on the streets like a sad veteran's commercial. The most logical step seemed to start on the issue of his eating habits. Taking the advice of a court mandated counselor, he took the plunge and entered a culinary program to learn the basics of cooking for a lonely one. He thought he'd be through with it fast enough, then back in his sad little apartment cooking for himself. But, wow, was he wrong.

That class turned out to be only the beginning for Proton. Following a recipe and learning the science behind flavours turned into the best therapy and coping mechanism he could have ever hoped for. It was so easy for him to get lost in the ingredients and make something spectacular. His love of chocolate came into play when he tried out a pastry class and since then, he never looked back.

Months after his first class he was using all of his savings to lease out a shop in the downtown Centropolis area and start his very own pastry shop. It was a bold move and meant he had to deal with people he didn't want to deal with at all hours of the day. But the plus was that he was justified in his nearly compulsive need to cook, bake, mix, and experiment! Of course.. the cute craft shop owner next door didn't hurt in making it the best choice Proton had ever made.
