Legacy Name: Valtam

Valtam, a wild silver devonti, despises all wolves, due to a traumatic experience of witnessing his flock being attacked by a pack of kumoses/kumi when he was still an adolescent. Val was the sole survivor, hidden beneath his deceased mother and older siblings. While the other kumi feasted on other members of the flock, Val managed to slip away undetected.

Valtam vowed to become as strong and as deadly as a pack of kumi. From that day on, Val challenged the most docile of foes and worked his way up to fighting off potential predators. Unlike traditional curved devonti horns, Val's grew into a magnificent, frightening ram with sharp, sword-like daggers, giving him the advantage over others.

He finally avenged the massacre of his friends and family by carefully stalking the pack responsible, ambushing them during one of their hunts.

One day while chewing some cud in dense tall grass, Valtam hears Elfric and his squad approaching nearby. Val goes undetected by the group--due to being hidden by the tall grass, while Sven and Hanji arguing about whether to go through the tall grass or go around it. Val can see the group in full, and the presence of kumi sets him off. Lowering his horns, Val charges at the group swiftly, catching everyone by surprise. Luckily, Haluk reacts fast enough to go in and deflect the attacker, and soon, devonti and neela lock horns in a frenzied fight.

Val begins to overpower the neela shortly, but Elfric and the others quickly join in to help their friend. Because the group's dynamic is vastly different than anything he has fought previously, along with their reliance on crafted weaponry, Val is defeated by El's squad.

Now that Val has been incapacitated by injuries and fatigue, Elfric wants the ram to explain the reason for his sudden attack. Val argues that he has never lost a single battle until now, and doesn't understand why Elfric and his squad did not kill him. Life and death is all Val has ever known growing up in the wild, the weak preyed upon by the strong, like how his family was killed by kumi.

Teba steps forward to explain that he once believed that himself, saying that he and Sven lost their mother years ago, and were picked up off the Centropolis streets by a research facility to be experimented on. He goes on to say that despite growing up in pain and suffering, Sven would never let him give up, and together, they would one day escape and live a life far away from humans.

"As luck or fate would have it, we met these three while trying to rob the millionaire center. Elfric saw the potential in us--"

"After we got arrested and sent back to the damn facility, thanks to them getting in the way," Sven interrupts.

"--THEN risked his life, as well as Miss Hanji and Haluk, to bust us out of that place once and for all," Teba finishes, glaring disapprovingly at his brother for the interjection.

The white wolf shares his own words of wisdom to Val, encouraging the ram not to waste his second chance on life in meaningless battles, that his flock would not want him to live on depressed and lonely. Elfric proceeds to give Val a healing potion to restore his health and energy, out of kindness and apology for ruining his record. The white wolf orders his squad to move out.

Later, after some considerable thought, Valtam catches up with the squad and asks to join the group. Elfric accepts.
