The Dragon Realms is a magical world where five groups of dragons lived in peace. The Artisans were painting or playing music, the Peacekeepers were vigilant to stop any intruders that would break the harmony in the Realms, the Magic Crafters were conjuring new spells, the Beast Makers were forming new creatures, and the Dream Weavers were busy protecting the dreams of sleeping dragons. Oh, there's also Gnasty's World, but that's just a dump...

"I'm so bored!" Spyro groaned as he glided to the crest of a hill within the Artisan homeworld. It was another typical day. The weather was pleasant, the dragons were busy at work, and the sheep were frolicking through the meadow. Just another day.

"I wish something exciting would happen, Sparx. I'm tired of just flying around and torching sheep all day," the young purple dragon sighed and rolled himself over onto his back. He stared at the sky and watched the clouds slowly drift. Sparx, his golden dragonfly companion, simply shook his head and sadly buzzed.

Spyro was not your typical Artisan dragon. He had no interest in carving statues, painting portraits, or learning how to play the harp. Other dragons may be happy doing their daily tasks, but the young dragon craved more for his life. He wanted to visit far off realms and go on a big adventure. Anything would be better than doing the same old thing every day.

Suddenly, an aqua beam of light shot across the sky and landed on another dragon. There was a slight rumble of the ground, and the dragon was suddenly encased in crystal! More beams were being fired and crystallizing more and more dragons. Spyro quickly charged himself over to a stone pillar and hid until the beams ceased. After a short period of time, Spyro walked up to one of the dragons that were crystallized in the meadow. Upon approaching the dragon, the ground shook and the crystal casing suddenly broke, revealing the dragon that was frozen inside.

"Nestor! What's going on here?!" Spyro questioned as the dragon he freed regained his composure.

"I don't... know..." Nestor shook his head in confusion. "It must be Gnasty Gnorc. He always warned us that he would do something drastic one day. This must be—"

"Wait, Gnasty Who?! Where is he?! I'll make him pay for this!" Spyro blurted.

"Look, don't worry about that now! Just free more dragons! Hurry!" Nestor exclaimed with panic in his voice. Spyro quickly shook his head in agreement and flew away with Sparx.

"Seems like we will have something to do after all! Let's kick some gnorc butt!" Spyro grinned as he began his search to free more dragons. With six homeworlds and dozens dragons to rescue, this purple dragon's life was going to get really exciting.
