Aileron smirked as he stepped forward, casting a look from side to side in anticipation.
He’d finally be able to see them; to hear their soft voices welcoming him back; to watch as they stared up into his eyes.
Yes, it was a long wait that finally was coming to it’s conclusion.
With a short shiver, his talons sent him closer and closer to the opening of his home; to his very wish and desire to see them again.

“Aileron!” Her voice glistened out, making him thud to a quick halt. A soft sigh escaped him as he plastered on a small smile; turning around to face it’s speaker.

“Chrono.” He retorted back tentatively. “What’s…up?”
They were so near, yet so far. Never would he show them to anyone; no, no. They were his. His and only his. Never would they be in danger. Never would they ever fear anyone. No. Must be kept a secret.

The Ontra stared at him oddly, her head tipped to the side. “Aileron.” She repeated, a grin plastered about her face. “Are you hiding something from me?” She twitched her whiskers in amusement, her tail flicking from behind her. “No matter, though. I’m just dandy, I do appreciate you for asking. And yourself?”

Aileron let out a small huff in reply. Chrono. Always so observant. “Reading that boring old poetry again?” He joked, his eyes rolling playfully. “I’m good,” he added quickly, unease lurking in his every movement.

She scowled, and let out a small mutter. “You never know when you’ll run out of time.”

For once Aileron could do nothing but agree. This time, by the way, was being so easily wasted with every moment. Minutes ticking by when they could be spent with those he wanted to see. Not that the ontra’s presence was something he’d rather stay away; he never usually objected the company of her or her fellow friends. Just now was not the best moment.

“Your mind is wandering afar again, my dear Aileron. What might you be thinking of?” She eyed him curiously, but then let out a short giggle. “The business is not mine to pry. I’ll see you tomorrow then. Hop to whatever you’re thinking.”

She dipped her head curiously, send him another look, and stepped off around the bend, tail raised high and proud.
Yesyesyesyes. I can see them. I can hear them. Finally now is the time—
He leaped through the entrance, his eyes immediately aglow at the scene before him.
Oh yes, it had been two hours too long.
He gazed heartily at the water before him, his blue eyes aglow. They immediately rose to the water’s surface, their beautiful eyes gazing all too adoringly.

“Fish?”

Immediately they scattered at the girlish voice, and Aileron practically leaped into flight. Who dared interrupt—“C-Chrono!” He stuttered out, a nervous laugh tumbling from his throat.

“Fish, my dear Aileron, is what made your mind stray?” Her green eyes stared openly at him, a small frown placed upon her mouth. “Why, may I ask?”

Aileron stayed quiet, as he found interest in a pebble on the floor.

“Do you…eat them?”

“N-No!” He blurted out, horrified at the mere though. “Good flight, no!”

“…er, what are they for?” Chrono looked as if she were holding back the most up fit amount of laughter, her paws tapping on the floor to distract her amusement.

“I…they’re my—I love them.”

“…oh.” She retorted back.

Aileron started miserably at his talons, his heart thudding loudly in his chest. He was ruined now. Surely anyone would die to view his lovely friends—they’d try to take them away—they’d—Huh?

A soft laugh was echoing from Chrono’s chest, as she patted his right wing assuringly. “Aileron, my friend, you do appear to be more than I could have thought.” She glanced at the fish as her laugh became louder. “Love a fish? Why I never!”

She jumped to her paws with another laugh, as she headed out the door. “I surely will refrain from speaking your secret to anyone—I assume it’s your desire.” She disappeared out the door, her tail flicking from side to side.

Aileron stared as she retreated, a loud sigh erupting from his chest.

“Oh!” Chrono’s head peeped back through the door as she let out another giggle. “Sayonara, Fishies! May the water be a well swim!”
