There was something behind her eyes that the smiles, the make-up, the friends couldn`t quite hide. Not even the glossy, shiny contacts she wore could hide it. There was something she did not want the world to know... because she was scared of it.
She told me she was a happy girl. `Said that the sun was always shining for her and that she loved life. I believed her and she stole my heart with her golden smile. Her warm personality radiated from her heart and was infectious.
I would have never thought to imagine her laying on my ruddy couch with her face buried between the cushions crying her face out. Her angelic face was red and puffy and her wintry, smooth hair was ruffled into a mess as she grappled at her head in frustration. I tried to assuage her tears, but they fell like constant streams only to be violently interrupted by her balled up hands.
I only had one question on my mind: How did she turn into this muddled mess?
