Job: Mechanic
Practically a mute, Viech hardly ever does any talking. She leaves that to the others on board. As the ship's head mechanic, she's usually crawling around in the bowels of the engines, making sure that the ship doesn't drop out of the sky "like the hunk of metal it is." How she's kept her wings, ears, and tail out of the cogs and gears she's constantly shimmying around, over, and between, nobody knows for sure. The Captain has it all pinned on the Montre's absurdly good luck ("You know, I found her in a heap of rubble that used to be an old building. Don't know how she got there..." )
Truthfully, Viech was born with the ability to over-produce static electricity. Since she was young, any electrical devices that she touched would short out, explode, or at best would simply stop working. Her parents didn't understand it, and didn't have the funds to have her seen by a doctor, and so she went on blowing things up on accident until other children in school began to bully her for it, calling her a freak, a monster, and often referring to her as 'it'. She began to disconnect from society despite her parent's best efforts, and they eventually pulled her out of school when she was 10. Viech was homeschooled for a while afterward, but it didn't little to help her confidence.
Finally the child decided to run away from home. She'd seen her mother cry one too many times and heard her father yell, and believed that if she were gone then maybe they could be happy and have another baby. Maybe this time, it'd be a normal one, too. At 13, Viech started trying to make a living out on the streets, and failed miserably. She quickly grew thin and ragged, almost turning feral in an effort just to survive, when she came across an old library that had long been abandoned. It became her shelter, and though she couldn't eat the books, they wouldn't explode when she touched them and she had a good memory.
It hadn't been long before she'd read every book in the library, and remembered nearly every one. She eventually learned how to keep from shocking anything, for as she'd grown older her ability had become more and more powerful until she could hardly touch anything at all. One evening, there was a thunderstorm, and the lightning struck the old library so many times that it finally collapsed while Viech was inside. The next morning, a group of people were clearing away the rubble when a young woman discovered her, pulling the winged pup from under a piece of the roof that had landed with just enough clearance to shield her from the rest of the rubble.
Upon awaking, Viech found herself in a cot on a ship, with Tritan looking out for her. After having been shocked a few too many times, he decided to fund a trip to the Sacred Land for her, where she could learn to at least channel the static into more useful spells. Less than a year later the montre was back aboard the ship, thanking Tritan and the rest of the crew for helping her. She quickly signed on as the mechanic, finding herself able to fix problems that nobody else could.
