"Thank you for taking the time to have this interview, Commander Shephard."

"Oh, no problem."

The man in front of me was tall. Shepard seemed happy to be here, but nervous. He ran a hand through his characteristically shaved head and rested a foot on his knee before leaning back on the oval chair. His quarters was not what I had expected. Many famous people enjoyed being lavish, and yet what I was seeing was quite a simple room, much like any other. Models of several ships were shown off above his desk, and in the aquarium fitted into the wall behind Shephard swam a few Beta fish, enjoying their time quietly. Shepard had a small smile on his face.

"So, first thing’s first! What’s your full name, Commander?"

"Paris Q’lorn Shepard."

"Q'lorn? That doesn't sound very Earthy." I pointed out, and Shepard laughed heartily. He went on to explain that it was the name of his father's co-worker and closest friend, a Turian. He had died in battle. I felt almost guilty for inquiring, but Shepard didn't seem too torn up about it.

"So, why not tell me about your parents? Were they heroes like you?"

"Oh, well my mother became a Lieutenant on the Novaria ship, and my father was a soldier for Cerberus."

It shocked me that a Cerberus soldier was best friends with a Turian. I questioned him no more about it, and it caught me off guard when he stated his mother was part of the Novaria space shuttle; that ship had gone down under fire twelve years after it was blasted into space.

"My apologises, Shepard." I stated, and he shook his head and urged me to continue with the interview, "Of course. Well, everyone has heard of your victory against the Collectors, and also that you seem to be getting into a relationship with one of your"¦ colleagues. Is this true?"

"It is. Her name's Tali'Zorah, and she's a fabulous woman. Just because we work together doesn't mean we can't be together. We're mature enough to not let our emotions get in the way of our work."

"That's a very good way to look at it, but she's also a Quarian, and you're human. Don't you think the difference in species will hold you back?"

"Nope. I could care less about people's opinions, including Cerberus'." his comment made he smile. He was confident in his feelings for this Quarian girl, and I liked that. I continued to ask about his opinions on politicians and the Council, which he answered all with a sort of careful elegance. He was eloquent, yet cautious of his wording, like he didn't want to offend anyone.

"Well Shepard, it's been an honour speaking with you. I hope to see more of your brave endeavours in the future!" I praised eagerly, getting to my feet. Paris joined me, and with a firm hand shook mine as I held it out.

"Thank you! The pleasure's all mine, really!"

As I stepped off the Normandy SR-2, I spoke quietly into my recorder.

"Paris Q'lorn Shepard, an idol to young boys; a knight in shining armour for little girls; an inspiration for civilians and soldiers alike and, most importantly, mankind's last hope."
