Tritan: Misspelling of the word 'Triton', reference to son of Poseidon and Amphitrite
Age: Approx. 57
Job: Powder monkey
Tritan's been aboard the Ki'Rin for longer than anyone can remember, and his nickname is very well-earned. With both brawn and brains, he makes a fearful adversary on any sort of battlefield, and though cold and stoic to most people, he turns into Papa Wolf whenever there's young ladies around. He's usually mistaken for the Captain by traveling merchants or by whoever happens to hire the ship, and laughs it off as he points to the young woman at the helm. Some speculate that he really is the Captain, and Jonys just serves as a cover so that she can learn the ropes before he retires. One person asked them while they were in port, and got himself a slap on the back and a free drink at the pub.

Surprisingly, the mahar was a baker for 34 years before a band of pirates raided the small sea-side town where he and his small family lived. The pirates plundered every building of its goods, coming upon the poor fellow's bakery almost at once. Finding the man asleep, they tied him up and threw him in the cellar, proceeding to pound into him for amusement. Thinking him dead, the villains left him to bleed before going back upstairs to raid his wares. When Tritan woke, his bakery was burned to the ground around him, and his wounds were being treated by some travelers who'd found him in the rubble. His wife had been brutally murdered, and his daughter was nowhere to be found.

When well, he traveled to the nearest city he could find. He withdrew part of his family's savings from the bank, paying several investigators to help him find anything they could on his daughter, and while following a lead across the sea his ship was attacked by the very same pirates who had ravaged his home. The vessel was nearly overtaken when another vessel dropped on them from above- the Ki'Rin, an air-and-sea steamship built and manned by several young Subetans who had more spirit than skill. The ship did provide the advantage that was needed, however, and the pirates fled before they could be captured or destroyed. Both vessels were badly damaged, and returned to port for repairs.

Tritan bargained his way onto the Ki'Rin- he would pay to keep the ship in top condition and would be allowed to remain aboard the vessel for however long as he liked. The crew couldn't do much, but they could provide him with what little help that they could. After 8 years of travel, with no leads, Tritan returned to his small hometown to discover that it had been restored. His bakery had been rebuilt, and was now being run by a friendly neighbor all-too-willing to return the business to its rightful owner. However, understanding that his daughter was most likely dead, he realized that he had grown accustomed to, nay, had grown to love the life aboard the Ki'Rin, and gave the store to his neighbor. He has ever since lived aboard the Ki'Rin, coming to see the crew as a large, unusual, and beloved family. He has never fully given up hope of finding his daughter, and now sees the ship's skilled mechanic, Viech, as almost a second child.

Despite having grown to despise rodents while running his bakery, he quickly grew to appreciate their intelligence aboard the Ki'Rin and has even trained several of them to do tricks for food rather than raiding the pantry. One in particular, a creamy white specimen, has stuck close by his side and seems to have almost sentient intelligence. Tritan has named her Lavie, seemingly after his daughter.
