A woman sat at one of the well-worn blackjack tables, an expert poker face present as she watched the dealer passing out the cards. As each fellow gambler asked for another card, and showed their own hands at the end of each round, her eyes darted this way and that.
Looking fairly in place with the rest of the players, the interior lights shone off the piercings in her left ear, as well as illuminating the freckles on her cheeks. Bright red lips caught the eye of more than a few fellow fortune-seekers- as was a classic tactic to draw attention from her true goals, the cards on the table never leaving her gaze. Despite her right eye being slightly obscured by her flowing hair, the woman's attention was singular to the cards.
Ten of Diamonds.
Queen of Hearts.
Ace of Spades.
Each card was given a number, the equation working over in her head as the rounds passed. For now, she had gained some and lost some- but that was the point. Counting cards couldn't pay off at first; otherwise the House would get suspicious.
It was fairly even for her, the wins and the losses. The woman was down by about a fifth of what she had started with…but now came the final round. Checking and double checking the previous plays in her head, she knew what the winning hand would have to be. Everyone else wouldn't have more than the count of seventeen- that means they'd have to fold with that, betting on everyone else's hands being lower. And, if she was right, nobody else could beat her hand of eighteen.
The cards just weren't there.
As the hands fell, and the chips were collected, the woman couldn't help but laugh, carrying her winnings to the counter.
Counting cards had been her study for a year or so, and now, after another round of seeking grand winnings…A huff left her lips as the chips were exchanged, the woman then walking out the door with a slight smile on her features. The problem with her masterful plan of counting cards, was that she was absolutely horrible at it. Despite the study and trial and error, it never panned out…
Yet, at least.
But, if you had fun and could laugh at misfortune, then where else to go with a plan, but to a Casino?
