Xocalatl

.: Appearance :.
Xocalatl is a pleasing mixture of feathered and japanese dragon. Her body is very long and serpentine, longer then a feathered dragon, and more akin to her japanese dragon heritage. She has short legs, and small, useless wings that are nearly stumps. Her body is covered in soft, downy, milk chocolate brown feathers with dark chocolate spots that trail like stripes or dribbles across her body. Trailing from her head and tail tip are long, dark chocolate plumes. Her belly is scaled like a snakes, and of creamy hue. A small pair of ivory horns jut out from her forehead and head plumes. Her eyes are a rich brown and slitted, unlike a snake her eyes do blink and have a third eyelid like most reptiles/birds. Her tounge is forked and a dark brown. On each limb she has three digits (two fingers and a thumb, and two toes and a back claw). She has a natural scent that is much like a mixture of fresh brewed coffee, chocolate mixed with cherry blossoms and a hint of baby powder.

Unlike the feathered dragons Xoc does not have a natural human form, but she does have an anthropomorphic form that is nearly human sized which she inherited from her father.

.: Personality :.
Xocalatl is a very good person, even if her habit of constantly chattering can get on people's nerves. She's very gregarious and quick to try and befriend others, loving to chatter about nearly any topic. Xoc is rather unperceptive and can be very scatterbrained at times. A daydreamer Xoc's mind is rarely in the 'here and now'. Animals are a passion of hers, and she tends to be a living encyclopedia of varying species, habits and information about many types of creatures. Xoc loves to sing to herself while working, or just to fill the silence, although she cannot carry a tune (thankfully her singing is not painful to the ears, just not skilled in any sort of way). Xocalatl is a very playful dragon, quick with a smile or a laugh.

She has been trained in shamanism and out of curiousity about her father's homeland tends to mix native spirtuality with shinto. Her forte is cooking, herbalism and magic based around coco and coffee beans. Xoc can make nearly any type of chocolate confection with skill to make a chocolatier cry, and she infuses her food with ancient magics of beneficial quality. Her dream is to travel the world and add to her repritoire of recipies and flavours for the coco bean.

.: Physical Characteristics :.
Xocalatl is much like a mixture between a D&D dragon, a D&D coatl and a japanese dragon. She has dragonic senses and can see in both total and partial darkness, has a heightened sense of scent and taste (through her snake tounge), her senses are so strong that she can pinpoint where somebody is, even if blinded. Unlike a typical dragon her sense of hearing is only on par with a typical human. She is immune to poisons, along with paralysation and sleep effects. Her jaw is dis-articulating like a snake allowing her to swallow prey whole and her mouth contains two, hollow fangs to inject her paralytic venom. Her venom weakens and paralyzes, but is not fatal and can be healed over a long period of time. Her body is constricting and she can actually wrap herself around larger prey/foes. She swims much like a snake, swerving to and fro, and when walking tends to have a slithering gait.Her metabolism is more like a snake's then a dragon's. She eats rarely, only need to gorge herself every once and again. Her type of blooded is more 'dragon' then reptilian so she couldn't really be called 'warm or cold blooded', but she tends to keep her own temperature to a certain amount yet still swaying to environmental factors more then a mammal. In cold weather she gets sleepy and can fall into a torpor/hibernation.Even though Xoc's wings are stubs and undeveloped she can still fly, slowly, without wings much like an oriental dragon. Although she doesn't know it Xoc has a smaller version of the pearl that some oriental dragons have embedded in their brains which allows them wingless flight.

Xocalatl does have a natural anthropomorphic form around the same size as a human, although she rarely uses it and is uncomfortable in that form for long periods of time.

Born in the old DC to a mesoamerican feathered dragon mother, and a Japanese dragon father Xocalatl had a great, early family life. In her early years she learned quite a bit of three languages, and three cultures (draconic, mesoamerican and japanese). While still a hatchling she awoke to her mother in a startle, her father and two of her clitchmates had vanished during the night. She was young, too young to realise how terrible a thing it was, but did always have issues with loosing family members at such a tender age. Her mother Quetzalteotl brought Xocalatl and Tatsucoatl back to her homeland where they spent a lot of time with their uncle while their mother searched for their missing family and then took time to mourn.Xoc spent most of her life in that hot land of holy wars between followers of ancient gods of good and evil, knowing only her mother, her brother and the feathered dragons relatives who helped to raise her. She learned the spirituality of the shamans, and the mysteries of ancient herbology and magic with the natural plants and beans of that land.It was only recently that Xocalatl returned to the new DC with her mother and brother to find that less time had passed in these lands then in the other dimension/plane that her family had lived in for the last 20 or so years. (Her mother's species of dragon ages more slowly then humans, at 25 years old they are just reaching their early adolescence.) She is eager and excited to meet other species of dragons and explore this new land.
