The grass tickled her arms and back as a cold wind passed through the area. She shivered and subconsciously shifted closer to her boyfriend, Brandon.
The night sky was dark and mysterious, with twinkling stars teasing her with their secrets. What knowledge exists out there? The question made her smile. She enjoyed these quiet moments in life, where she could rest easily next to Brandon and just think about things.
"Look," she whispered, her voice intentionally hushed to keep with the mood of evening.
She paused for a second while she made sure that Brandon was, in fact, looking. "If you look off to the west, you can see the start of Pisces." She smiled. "Maybe, when Pisces is completely visible in the sky, we can come out here again sometime."
Brandon hummed pleasantly. "I'd like that, Yanee. Are there any other constellations you can see?"
Pausing for a bit, she swept her eyes over the night sky, trying to pick out the constellations from the mass of stars. "Ah, there!"
This time, she pointed to the north and east of Pisces. "There is Pegasus. See it?"
"No," Brandon replied. "It doesn't look like a horse." His puzzled face made her smile, and she took his hand in hers.
"That's because Pegasus is on his back. Look, there's Markab, the saddle of the horse, and to the north of it," she moved their hands and pointed at the next star, "there is Scheat, one of the legs..."
A gasp of recognition interrupted her explanation. "Oh, I see it now! What other stars are up there?"
"Hmm..." she took his hand and pointed to the southeast of the previous two stars. "That is Epsilon Pegasi, the brightest star in Pegasus. It's also called 'Enif.'"
"And what part of Pegasus is it?"
"It's the nose!" In a fit of laughter, she reached down and pretended to snatch Brandon's nose from his face. She tore away from where they were leaving, calling out amicably, "You'll have to catch me to get it back!"
He raced toward her, their laughter and footsteps disturbing the peace of the night, creating a memory brighter than the stars above them.
