The Beast

On first impression, Eliam, or Eli, is a fairly easygoing, mellow guy. He can be somewhat awkward and is frequently embarrassed by the attention he draws; he hates being the center of attention but his massive size and strength make him noticeable, to say the least. He tends to be a bit reclusive, not so much shy as slightly withdrawn from other people, preferring to live a more isolated life with his wife Lujei. Eli is extremely devoted to Lujei, often deferring to her judgment, and would do anything for her.

Underneath his agreeable demeanor, Eli has a savage side. When he was younger, he unintentionally became tied by a binding pact to the god of darkness, becoming a werebeast blessed directly by them, and with his new feral form came the violent instincts of an enormous apex predator. While Eli's self-control has gotten better over the years, it is still a fact that he is higher up on the food chain than he was as a simple human, and his strong prey drive and monstrous appetite drive him to hunt for prey of all types.

- eli's pact with the god of darkness came into existence through eli looking into rumors he'd heard of a magical item that could grant wishes. his wish was to be bigger and stronger so that he could protect his wife, and it was granted but came with unexpected side effects.
- although eli's wish was a very impulsive decision and he's never been the smartest, he put a lot of thought into it to try to avoid the possibility of being tricked. his wish was specifically to be 'bigger and stronger so that he could protect his wife for the rest of her long life'. this has resulted in him now aging at the same rate as an elf
- inhumanly strong and durable, and can transform into a gigantic beast reminiscent of a carnivorous hippo with some wolfish traits.
- despite his capacity for violence, eli isn't cruel and most of his acquaintances see him as a pretty good, if strange, guy. he doesn't have any delusions about being a good person and he isn't about to do anything heroic, but he has a much better handle on his violent instincts than he used to. he's always pretty happy to do favors for people, especially if it involves putting his immense strength to use, and he considers it an important way to stay connected to his human side.
- can be very easily won over with food; eli is a bottomless pit.
- he can be kind of goofy and ridiculous; he's easily distracted, struggles to think things through, and puts his foot in his mouth a lot. whenever he sees his teenage daughter she is very embarrassed by him and he can't figure out how to not be embarrassing.
- prone to bouts of body dysmorphia, due to his body having been radically changed by magic; he's roughly 1.5x his original height and around 7 times as heavy. while he's lived longer as a werebeast than a normal human, some part of him will always still think of himself as the ordinary person he originally was.

- eli was originally 5'6"; his insecurity over his body led him to include his desire to be taller as part of his 'wish', which he now regrets. he is very much a case of 'be careful what you wish for'.
- unless he's actively trying to intimidate someone, eli tends to hunch in on himself and slouch to try to seem less imposing, but he's so huge that it doesn't have much effect. his posture is pretty terrible.
- he has prominent, sharp canine teeth
- always wears very simple, loose clothing
