Direct to Cash Shop CWs!

We are excited to announce a new way to submit custom wearables -- thanks to user suggestion, we have implemented a way for users to submit their custom wearables directly to the cash shop!

When you submit a CW, you now have the option to submit your custom item directly to the Cash Shop without first creating a batch of slots. The item will still go to the queue and through the normal critiquing process. If it is accepted, one copy of the item will be placed in your inventory, and it will be placed in the Cash Shop immediately. You will not be able to remove your item from the Cash Shop manually. It will remain there for 90 days, after which time it will be retired.

The cost for submitting you item directly to the cash shop is 1000 CSC + the cash shop cost of an item. For example, a wig will be 1600; a small accessory will be 1300. This is great for not being able to fill slots, or for those of you that want a copy of your item but do not necessarily want to wait until 10 slots are filled to get it - or do not want to pay for all the slots yourself, but do not mind it being placed in the cash shop!

Thanks for the great suggestion, everyone, and keep it coming - and we hope you all enjoy this new feature!

I don't play anymore but that forced retirement deal is pretty crappy.

I don't know, I think that the 90 day limit sounds pretty reasonable. After all, with the new system in place and all of the very talented people who frequent this site, it is very possible that the CS could get overloaded with CW's over time if a limited availability timeslot hadn't been implemented. Plus, it gives everyone's CW's an equal chance to be seen, instead of being overlooked because of the presence of a wildly popular old fave that hogs all of the spotlight. And then, there is that "limited time, don't want to regret missing it" thing on the business side of things. So, from every angle, it actually makes a lot of sense.

I actually like this new submission system. 1300-1600 CSC is only $13-$16 U.S., which is a fairly reasonable price to add your own custom wearable to the site as opposed to having to pay $50 or try and get enough people to actually chip in to cover the submission fee. Maybe now more people will actually be attracted to attempting to submit their own creations because of the reduced prices and users will get to discover wonderful new CW's that they never would have paid much attention to before because they weren't created by a well-known or popular artist. Maybe now users who are not very popular or whose ideas didn't catch many eyes in the forum (or are fairly broke in real life) will finally be able to get that pimped-out CW of their dreams. It's really a great idea. ^_^

@cAIn
Yeah it's more the lack of control/options in this situation that is off-putting. Like I suggested, rather than retire it after 90 days, still have the 90 day limit but then take it out of the CS and then give the submitter an option to resubmit (and pay for it again) or not. And then, if they want, they can limit the amount of times the person can submit a certain item. They would have to play around with the "bonus item" because it would be a shame if people exploited that just to get another free copy (the one they would get after the first 10 items have sold). Like maybe the first time a specific item is submitted they get the extra free one, but every other time they only get the one they paid for.

And honestly, I really haven't seen any CWs go down in value that much, even ones that are in the cash shop, so I think that's really not an issue with these items. If someone wanted to make a private CW they would still make it private, but I assume if it's open to the CS they don't want it private or limited, so it just seems like a waste to force them to do that.

The 90 day retirement rule still feels very forced, to me. We already stated pretty hard that we didn't like the forced retirement of items taken off the shop. And as a result, that was removed.

I feel there are better ways this could have been handled that doesn't involve forcing item retirement. Some people may not care about their items having "value" beyond the cash shop. When I make a utility item, I make it as something to be freely available all the time. Not some rare, coveted gem that inflates to huge prices after retirement.

If we want to retire items, should it not be our own choice?

Ah, whatever, I'm sticking to slots unless this gets changed. Item retirement doesn't bother me. Not being able to control my own items, however, does.
0

Keith

The 90 day limit is to make it so that the CS ones still have *some* value outside of the CS, and because honestly it's already crazy and full and we want to make sure that we can have pages with bunches of items in them.
0

Raggy

I hope that the people who made the items for the cw contest put theres in the Cs, some of them were lovely, and would surely sell this way.
0

Griffin

I've wanted a straight-to-CS system for soooo long. I might get back into making CWs again now that I don't have to deal with the nightmarish slot process.
0

Kestrel

I agree with Spirtey, I feel like it would be smart for Subeta and way more convenient for us if the limited cash shop items had a little number counter under them so we know how many days an item has left. I just took a quick look at the CS after the post was made and there were so many items that I never really noticed had been put in there.
0

Vars

I can dig it. Thanks guys!
Hopefully folks who hate taking slots can get a way just to plunk it into the CS without the retirement date! ;_;7

This is the way it seems it should have been from the beginning. Submit it, get it approved, it's for sale in a nice easy to use format without forums and going back and forth and unneeded nonsense. Minus the 90 expiration of course, for not feeling up to putting up with such nonsense. I know some lovely artists who are just too introverted for that shit. Glad to see some of those who have that one item they'd die for being able to do it for a simpler price. There will be some really cute items popping up I'd imagine. Nerdy.. fandom crazed maybe... but wonderful. :)

Julie

I might put my CW that I entered for Peekaboo into this system, to see how it works. My problem with CWs was the slotting and getting everything right, etc. etc. Plus the 5000 CSC to put something on site. I'll try to do this, this week.
0

Jazmine

Hamlet: this will also be good for those special animal CWs that tend not to get a ton of slots. :) I may actually be able to afford my kitty cw after all.
0

pax

OH MY GOSH YES THANK YOU ;__;
Now I'll be able to submit my things once I raise the CSC for it. 1.6k is definitely easier for me to earn than 5k, lol

Only thing that's not making me 100% sold on it is the automatic retirement after 90 days, otherwise, I'd probably be using this for every single release. Lol. D:
0

Hamlet

This is great for items that i want that wouldnt be very popular amongst other people such as male wigs and clothes :) Im very happy about this! Just a shame that it costs 1.6kCSC for only the one copy of the item.
0

Sleeb

Woohoo! I'm so excited!

From a business perspective I see why they would want a 90 day then it retires policy.

It's a business tactic used to create hysteria, the idea being that you'll talk yourself into buying something that you normally wouldn't have, just because you might not have the chance to buy it again. This leads to more purchases. If they left the items in there forever, people would just put it off and tell themselves they'll get eventually. Which leads to a loss of sales.

They did the same thing with the Peek a boo VIP passes. By only releasing them in small numbers at random times they pretty much insured that they would all be bought and ended up making more profit. It worked wonderfully, I myself bought two so I could sell one. If they had been in the cash shop with no limit, I never would have bought the second one, as I didn't need it, so they made 2.50 more just from me that they never would have received. Common business practice and Subeta is a business. It's a shame though that they sometimes forget this and don't act as professionally as they could in some situations.

Sorry for the triple post.

@ROCK Basically the person who submits the item pays 1000CSC on top of the price for the item (between 300-600CSC) and they get a copy of the item. So it's pretty much like a 1000CSC submission fee and they pay for one copy of the item. If they want any more copies then they would need to buy it out of the cash shop just like anyone else.
0

ROCK

Would the person who submitted it have to purchase one directly from the cash shop also? This might be a stupid question, but I just don't do CWs really.
0

Silvanesti

I understand the 90 day limit, but I think retiring it after should be an option, so maybe after 90 days give the poster an option to re-submit it, retire it or remove it and be able to resubmit it another time (in the same way where you would have to pay, etc..). And in order to prevent it from being permanently in the CS, let them only be able to re-submit it a max of three or four times, or something like that. I think that would make more people happy with the limit.
0

Yuzu

OOOOOH this is brilliant! Now I might actually be able to get a few of my pieces onto the site! The price is very reasonable too! Thank you!
0

Spritey

Love that there are more ways to get an item on site these days! I do have one recommendation, however. Is there a way that the "90 days and retired" CWs could be separated out in the CS? That could help the rest of us make sure we don't miss out on purchasing an item because we don't know that it is a Limited Edition. Not everyone checks the forums regularly, and unless you are a part of all the various artist and commissioner ping groups, you are unlikely to be alerted to new additions unless you scan the New Arrivals section daily. Even just a new category window stating "90 Day Limited Items" would be helpful in differentiating between items that are just New to the CS and items that are going to DISAPPEAR SOON :)

LucidDreams

"Oh damn, there goes my massive profit cash cow!"

^Idk why anyone would be thinking that as from what I understand, people will still be able to submit CWs in the old way if they want to? Some people have no problem with filling batches, this just seems to be a different way of submitting items for those who find it more difficult.

Anyway this seems like a great idea! ^-^ The CW scene seems to be a little slow lately, maybe this will make things more interesting.

I think this is a great new addition to the CW market...with the exception of the 90 day limit. I don't understand the need for a 90 day window followed by permanent retirement. With the influx of new users showing up daily, I would think staff would just leave these items in there so newer players could buy them too, even after the 90 days. Maybe it's an issue of server space or strain, but couldn't that be alleviated by keeping the straight to CS items in a separate tab and then rotating them through the CS like they do with items in the MC? That way even if a new player missed it the first time it was released, they could catch it on the next rotation? And veteren players wouldn't miss out if they took a small hiatus either.
I'm just really wondering why a time limit was put on these. CWs in the CS should be like little constant money making gems that take little to no effort on the part of staff after they have been approved and placed in the CS...or at least that is my understanding of how it works.
Anyway...I like the new option and the fact that it is another example of staff listening to the users and making the site better for us all :)

What about something that gives us the option to check a box if its a commissioned item then we enter the name of the artist so they still get their copy upon item approval?
0

Jessi

I'm on my phone, so pardon the lack of personalized replies!
- We've never had a limit on recolors and we'll continue not to!
- We will not be making "discounts" for the artist if it differs from the submitter. Again, this is up to you to determine yourself!
- You can still submit an item with the unlimited batch option and put it in the cash shop manually if you don't want it to retire!
- You will still get your usual percentage when it sells, including during cash shop sales

I'll try to answer more tonight!
0

skittish

oooh i might try submitting something. can't handle the slotting thing on the forums lol. i can't decide whether i like the 90 day retirement rule or not.
0

CaveAdsum

A great idea, but why retire it automatically? Why not just give the user the choice if he want it to retire after 90 days or just let it stay?
0

Kaje

The limit is interesting! I wonder if you will still be able to fill slots and put an item in the CS permanently, though. That's what I'd prefer, personally. More options are awesome! Thanks guys!!
0

Alenwen

The 90 days limit is a bit strange indeed, but makes me want to visit the cash shop cws more regular xD
0

Jazmine

This is what I'm seeing as a potential CW buyer:
Some makers are like "YAY! Finally my CWs will get more exposure!" and others are like "Oh damn, there goes my massive profit cash cow!"

I LOVE this idea because it'll MAYBE allow more people to draw/release CWs since it's not as cost-prohibitive, and maybe it'll slow
down the massive markups I've seen on some CWs lately.
0

Aries

So Jessi would it be for every 10 items sold the submitter gets another item or just the first 10?
0

Crab

Aaaah this is super exciting! confused about the 90 day expiration thing though - why can't things just stay up for sale? :c
0

Hyena

Will there be a new advertising board for this, or can we just specify direct-to-shop in the forum titles?
0

Snowflake

i don't understand why there's a 90 day expiration date. it doesn't make sense if the artist wants to keep it there permanently....
0

Rue

Sweet! I wish this feature is available earlier xD
0

Hyena

wowow maybe I can have some CWs made now :o I do have a lot of sP lying around...
0

Thelma

Lord. I put exited, instead of *excited. How embarrassing.
0

Seerow

I don't understand the mentality of people saying they need to get the price they paid for a commission back. Can someone please explain it me?

You are buying a piece of artwork. You don't expect to get the price you paid for an overlay or whatever back do you? Why is it any different here? You paid someone else to draw you an item so why are you expecting to get back what you paid the artist plus a profit?

I really like this idea and am glad it was implemented. Whenever/if I release anymore cws they will probably go this route!
0

Balloon

Argh, I just submitted a CW the other night and paid all the slots myself -X-; I mean, I love the idea of new system, but that's $50 off my credit card I can't get back, even if it's rejected and I get my CSC back.

Oh well, at least it will be easier for me next time!

Well.

I was really excited for this until I read this bloody line.

So much for no more slots, guess I'll still be running them until this damn aspect is removed.

I mean, why? What purpose does this limitation actually serve?
0

Silvanesti

So is this going to be the only way to submit a CW to the cash shop or would the slotting still be available as an option for that? I don't really have any art skills, but I'm just curious. Also what will happen to the items that are currently in the cash shop? Would they just stay there like normal or would they retire after the 90 days?
0

CelticRaiN

I agree with @Waijay. And then commissioners still have to pay the artist's fee. :P

There should be some kind of discount for commissioners or something...? It's not even worth commissioning these days in my opinion, prices are insane.
0

HallowsEve

Amazing idea! Love it, great job Subeta you did good =]
0

KEN

THANK you. Slots were stuuuuupid.
0

Waijay

Well I guess its still better than forking out 5k for a batch ;x
Though forking 1.3-1.6k for my own copy.. D: + artists copy and hoping others buy it so I can get some monies back throughout those 90 days XD...
hmmmmm/

Still.. an interesting addition and it's gonna be time to stalk the cs i guess XD.
0

dollipop

also i just wanted to say i like the new shiny "click here to cancel this item" button hahaahahaha
0

this is perfect and well timed because i have a wig im due to submit soon YAY FOR BEING AN ANTISOCIAL PIECE OF SHIT

How much do you earn from cash shop sales? x

I'd just like to know when the prizes are coming out for the Battle of the Bands competition...

this is good :v
0

NAT

As someone who has interest in making CW's but not enough to tackle the slots/forums thing this is great news!
I may actually give CW's a try now. :)
0

Andrea

ooooh, awesomeee! I have a few things I definitely wouldn't mind making but I'm way too lazy to deal with slotting!

Two questions:
1. Can we submit several colors via this, or is there like a recolor limit, etc? I ask only because if something isn't a big seller I'm not sure if staff will want 10 recolors.

2. Do submitters still get x amount of csc per sale?
0

Kestrel

This is a nice change. c:

@Arwen_Undomiel I would assume that commissioners and artists would probably have to figure that out for themselves ahead of time. Like if an artist's base price is 1000 csc and they know the person submitting wants to go this route, then they could bump up the price to 1500 csc to make up for it.
I mean really whenever an artist gets a "free" copy of an item, someone is always paying for it anyway.
0

dollipop

@couture for now what i'm doing is in my commission info i'm saying that if you're using the straight-to-cash-shop function, you can either supplement the csc to purchase a copy or purchase one for me. i think that its doubtful that a stipulation for an artist's copy will be added in since there are no set rules that say an artist must get a copy of the CW they create (unfortunately). it would be awesome if it came with 2 copies instead of one, or something. but keep in mind that since the submitter gets a certain percentage (10? can't remember) of all purchases made, it is slightly cheaper for them to give you the CSC and you buy one, so it should all work out… i think.
0

Jessi

@DataBunny
Once it's retired, it's retired permanently, so if people want it, they better get it in those 90 days!

@User not found: arwen_undomiel
That's something you'll need to work out - perhaps the submitter can then purchase one from the cash shop for the artist. But that's something you have to work out yourselves!

Also I forgot to mention, but the submitter still gets another item after 10 have sold from the cash shop, too!
0

Libra

Yea um.. what about the artists slot...
0

Blanche

Now if only we can submit facials and have them permanently placed in the CS or some other sort of compromise... <3

(love this! super hope it works out c: )
0

dollipop

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
0

Carpathia

I like this. I hate having to wait for slots to fill or buying them myself. I'd love to get some CWs done now.
0

CATNIP

what about those who are commissioners... the commissioner gets one item, but what about the artist?
0

Willow

love it.
0

DataBunny

YES! @Jessi I have a question though like, after it's retired will we be able to put it back into the cash shop permanently, or is that it and it's just gone?

(Thank you so much for this ;A; )
0

MarchOnOff

Fantabulous! Now all I have to do is learn to draw...simple, no problem...yeah, right...:D
0

Thelma

This is awesome and the way I personally believe Cw's should have been done from the beginning. Give or take a few tweaks. I'm exited to see some of the items that people put in that never would have made it onto the site. :)

Omg  this is amazing ^^
