I don't usually comment on these, but all the negativity towards the site and staff has irked me.

Sure, the server transition hasn't been the smoothest and yes there are still some issues, but I have to wonder how many of the complainers have ever had to upgrade or move a server themselves? How many understand the complexities involved?
I have, multiple times, and it's not always as straightforward as it first appears.
It's not like they're not sitting on their asses doing nothing, they're fixing the problems one at a time and letting us know when things are done. That to me is service done well.

So @Amber, @Bug, @Keith and the rest of the staff, I just want to say thank you. All your hard work is appreciated :heart:

Man I really wanted those geodes but so broke! It seems like they haven't even been in there long enough to retire :(

@Disasters yes, you're right thank you! for some reason I was thinking it was open only for Luminaire but it goes for the winter season, I remember now. *facepalm* Thx!

The bonus weekend usually ends on Tuesday. All year I have missed out on it (except the one time it ended on Wed) because my money goes into my account at 3a.m. on Wed. This month I get my money at 3a.m. on Tuesday because of Christmas being on that Wed. I was thrilled about this because I thought this was a great chance for me to get some CSC. Now I find out that you are going to end it on Monday. Once again I will miss it by 3 hours!!!

@METROID

It's definitely no one's job to support something if it's going sour but I think quality is also relative.
The site is fine for what I enjoy doing here. And it's fine for a lot of other players as well. And I actually feel like the quality has improved over the years compared to way back when. Sure there's still lag, and that can be frustrating to deal with, but there's also still a lot of really cool stuff for people to do here as casual players.

It's one thing to remove financial support if staff was choosing not to fix things or making bad content. But they're actively working on trying to fix the place even if they're not constantly posting 24/7 updates.

The site/staff are still producing new content on a daily basis, site events still happen, and it's nice that they're willing to communicate openly with everyone vs keeping things behind closed doors all the time.

The site doesn't have to die. It's been trucking along for all these years which is impressive as the internet and gaming has changed so much in the past ten years. The site will really die when a large group of people decide to give up on it despite the staff working as hard as possible with limited resources and manpower.

I think people maybe need to lower their expectations a little bit and remember that this is an indie game run by a VERY small group of people - people who have other jobs, priorities and social lives. We've just gone through a massive move, and cleaning up/improving the bones of this ol' house is going to take some time.

I think criticism is valid and it's ok to also express your frustration at the site, things not working, and whether or not the quality is there for you. But I think it's also important to try and encourage the staff as well and show them that we still believe in them and the site.

me: the site is kind of functional during lumi, this is nice, yay :'D
everyone else: the site has so. many. issues. what is going on.

@Shirley
I got what you were trying to say, that people who are financially capable shouldn't boycott.
But the reality is, it's not their job to support a service/product/industry if things are turning sour and no longer up to the quality they're used to. They're not obligated to put money into something they don't like, even if it means the business dies as a result. That's money and time that can then be spent elsewhere. It's a hard pill to swallow.
We're adults, we're no longer the teens we were with disposable allowance because we didn't have to worry about bills or a mortgage. Things have changed. If it means the site dies as a result, then it dies. It's the ebb and flow, things are born, live a little while, then die. My advice? Kick back and enjoy whatever time this place has left.

@Amber
I'm with Uadjet on this, we know to post stuff in bugs/problems (and site feedback), but many things that have been reported have gone unanswered. There's a couple of threads about potions not working for some players, there's center alignment affecting people, the coliseum is somewhat messy with challenger tabs not working.

I'm glad Keith and Bug are on it and fixing stuff, and i know they're tired of things going wrong and that we're all a couple steps away from biting at each other's throats.
But keeping up a good line of communication and timeliness are important, and all I expect or want is a "hi, we've let the programmers know about this. We can't give an ETA, but it has been added to the list of fixes to be made. We'll post an update when we have anything new to report or have it fixed. Thank you for being patient." acknowledgement. We shouldn't have to wonder aloud for hours, days or even a week til someone finally comes and says it. We have no idea if anyone is seeing our reports or not. It's like when I send a text message to someone, and they don't reply back with an 'Ok'. Did they get my message? What's going on in their head? Did I say something wrong? I hate that feeling more than anything.

turbid

@Krynne make a ticket to let staff know!

Sneaky

Everyone is complaining and yet the daily support goal thing is about full. So that must mean that people are only saying something about this if they have something bad to say.

Yes, the quest reset problem, friend request problem, and delay in the story contest that might be postponed until next Fireside now are frustrating, but we should be thankful we're getting new items and stuff at all. While I would like a bit more communication about it, I don't really like seeing too much negativity here.

Uadjet

@Amber
In which forum/thread might we see some kind of update? There are several related to the issues that haven't seen anything from any staff for weeks and I no longer know where to look.
Also, is the intelligence stat bug/glitch/issue is fixed? There was nothing on that thread that indicated anything other than it was a known issue.
Thanks

Ugh..center aligned text :( Really looking forward to the custom coding working again

Amazing items and definitely added them to my WL so that I can get them in the future.

@METROID

Sorry, meant "**have zero reason..." I changed the wording of the sentence and forgot to remove the "don't" that's there so that can be a little confusing in what I was trying to say!
0

Shirley

@METROID

My post was not directed towards folks who are unable to purchase CSC or do not have the means to do so, nor was it for people who don't have zero reason to spend their money on the site.

Putting together and then running a kickstarter or a gofundme is actually a lot of work. Maybe they just don't have the energy to dedicate towards putting one together? Maybe they have other reasons why they don't want to (or maybe can't) put one together?

Staff so far have not eluded that they feel defeated - exhausted and frustrated probably, but not defeated.

Amber

Sorry guys, I don't have any updates unfortunately! I'll get Keith or Bug to post what's going on though on the forums. While there are still issues, we (Rah and I) sort of have to power through and keep doing our content. I did Bonus Weekend earlier than usual this month because holidays are right around the corner and figured people might want that last minute chance to grab CSC for whatever reason. I honestly didn't factor in the issues going on and how that'd look to y'all.
9

Emyon

I'm sorry to be reiterating what's been said already, but: Please give us a news update on what bugs are being fixed, or the progress of the fixes, or something.
Every time i find a new bug, I post on the bugs forums, and there's no answer from staff or any fixes or changes or anything at all... It's very disheartening. Friend requests have been broken for over a month, no word if you guys are working on it. Please just tell us, even if what you have to say is "we don't know how to fix it/we don't know how long it will take"
We can't know how hard things are on your end and be understanding about it if you don't tell us. Right now we're just left in limbo and it's making a lot of people impatient and angry, when it could be solved with just telling us how it's going, what are you focusing on now, etc.
16

Saturnine

& I don't mean that those people are wrong to feel that way. Just the irony that I totally forgot about Bonus Weekends.

Others: The site is slow. We want an update. I'm not spending money on what is essentially a sunk cost with no transparent news about what's happening.

Me: Dang I already bought some CSC on Monday.

I’d love to hear more about the sites status too, I am fortunate to still be able to play pretty well when I manage to get online so I don’t have a problem buying CSC on my usual schedule, but if there’s time to post more updates I’d be all for it.

@JackyMedan - You can buy the bins items you want here: Bonus Items

I thought today was Tuesday and was sure this was an error lol. What day is it? Is it 2020 yet? I don’t even know.

@JackyMedan I feel you, I have been wishing for an option to chose items for what feels like years! But I am going to buy CSC tonight using Stripe, would you like to swap items? I’ll probably be on around 10 or 11pm Subeta time.

METROID

@starfish
Ticket support has been garbage for some time now. I had an issue that took half a year to get resolved, and the solution ended up being just to prove I'm the owner of the account and then the issue got fixed. I can't get into specifics, but let's just say I was locked out of numerous site features as a result of this issue while waiting for a solution.
1

METROID

@Shirley
It's a catch-22. I suppose for me, there's nothing content-wise that encourages me to spend money. I'm not into CWs, and CS opponents are once a month, which isn't a lot of money right there. Don't need a GA since the perks are meh. About the only thing I would spend money on are pet overlays, but those are few and far between. I'm also on a fixed income and budget my money, especially this time of the year when I've got less work (my job requires a lot of outdoor time, and winter pretty much halts any progress). I don't have the money to spend, nor do I get much out of buying CSC when content is sparse and I have little faith in staff when we're having to practically gang up on them just to get a simple message from someone that things are being looked into.

Everyone's situation is different, and there isn't an easy solution that will magically resolve everything. Can't tell ya how many times a kickstarter or gofundme has been suggested, to try and maybe afford a site recode or whatever, only to be shot down by Keith. No matter what users may suggest, they don't seem to be interested in taking them up. If they already feel defeated, then there's nothing else that can be done.

I've been on this site for 12 years and bought CSC for the first time today.
I love this site, love that it's free to play, and for all the years of entertainment and joy I felt like it was time I finally give back a little that I can.

I get that a site that's not always running at 100% can be frustrating. I remember when the lag was so bad you couldn't get ANYTHING to load for days. Or when we moved servers or something AGES ago and that took forever! And we had these alternative offsite places that grew for folks to gather and chat (and vent LOL).

I can understand that it's frustrating when things aren't working, and I can see why it would make some folks hesitate to drop their $$$. Those feelings are valid.

I think it's also important to remember though that this place isn't like blizzard or some other large-scale online gaming platform where they have thousands of employees making sure everything runs smoothly. Subeta has just a handful of folks working to help keep this site running on a shoestring budget and their passion for this site.

And withholding the money that would've spent on CSC if the site were running in tip-top shape kind of creates a self-fulfilling prophecy - without funding, staff will end up not being able to get paid for their work thus they will stop working on the site and so the site will cease improvements. Boycotting, I feel, in this context will actually end up doing more harm than good.
18

Jenevive

I have no intentions of being rude, but when are we going to get an update on the state of the website? I've been encountering numerous issues over the past few weeks, and I tried to invite a few of my friends to enjoy the site with me and they have all abandoned their accounts because of the glitches. I keep seeing news about CSC items, retirements, etc but I have yet to see any sort of big announcement on the sites malfunctions.

I have been on this website for 7 years now, and I have no intentions of leaving any time soon. I'm currently a gold member and I have been buying gold accounts whenever I can over the years, but I don't think with the way things are going right now that I will continue to buy them if something isn't done. I understand that nothing can be fixed immediately, and I'm really not even looking for that. I just want to know that you guys are working on it, listening to peoples concerns, and addressing them in some way.

I love this website, and so do all the other users. We want to keep this site alive, we want to see it thrive, and most of us really don't mind pitching in some money here and there. We deserve at *least* a news post addressing the problems.

That being said, the skunk is very cute.
5

Cassandra

@JackyMedan you know you can buy two and either swap/sell/buy right? Or you could just buy it with sP. I apologise if you find my suggestions not to your taste.
0

JackyMedan

I'm definitely intending on buying csc, but I'm once again hit with the frustration that 90% of the time I prefer the stripe item, which I literally cannot get because my only payment option is PayPal. I don't have a credit card and my debit card isn't compatible with stripe either.. my only option could be getting some kind of one time use prepaid credit card, but those charge their own fee so it'll cost me more in the end.. I really hope one day we could just choose which item we want regardless of the payment method we use.. *looks wistfully at that skunk*

@Able @cAIn You are both so right. I beg your pardon for even trying to have a different opinion. Thank you for putting me in my place.
1

wraith

@Cassandra

A notable point regarding abel's statement: He never said the site was new or old or even bought up the site's age at all. That's pretty irrelevant to the argument on the whole, I'd think. All he said was that the site is struggling, nothing else. He also never accused you of suggesting we boycott the site, either. Just pointed out that if people stopping from using the cash shop in protest when they otherwise would be buying from it will not actually help matters at all.
9

Maniac

with how mad everyone already is i hope the trees won't glitch this year.......... lol
2

demon

@Cassandra i also did not mention in my initial statement that you should spend. i'm playing devils advocate and seeing things from both sides- staff may legitimately not know whats happening, and cannot give information that is concrete. that isn't to say that is any sort of excuse, especially how long it's been since the downtime.

but actively not buying will hinder staff payment is boycotting regardless, as the definition is: withdraw from commercial or social relations with (a country, organization, or person) as a punishment or protest.

regardless, do what you want to do. i just put down my two cents.
8

Cassandra

@Abel Sorry, hard spot. You have me there. Doesn't change my opinion or point.

This site is old. Not a new struggling one. I'm not suggesting "boycotting" the site at all. I just won't be spending any of my real money here until all the problems are rectified.
0

demon

@Cassandra i never said that users are staff are in the same spot. i said that users and staff are in a hard spot. please read before you @ me next time.

i'm also in australia, but i don't think boycotting a website thats struggling and has been said to be on a shoe string budget will help with the matters. thats just my opinion.
16

Cassandra

@Abel How are users and staff in the same spot? There has been no transparency from staff as to what is going on with the many things going wrong on site. Users are in the dark. Why would I want to spend (I'm Australian the exchange rate is appalling) real money when there are so many basic things still working?
1

starfish

I'll buy the items like I usually do because I like them, and I've got a chance machine addiction.
I've also got a ticket that's been open for a while and I remember when that would have been settled within a day. Maybe more support staff are needed, I don't know but not spending money here like I usually do isn't going to help if that's true. I agree an update on the state of the site would be very welcome. *Especially* on the state of the legacy shops. I've got items in there that are intended to be luminaire gifts, if I could only access them. Will that happen before the trees open?
Has anyone mentioned when the snowball shop will open?
3

demon

both staff and users are in a hard spot- on one hand, i see the appeal of holding off on buying csc until the current state of the site is regarded in an upfront and transparent fashion, but on the otherhand, we as the users know that subeta is on a shoe string budget and cutting off supply will further cripple the site. we're at an impasse.
14

Mythology

Like the items, but sorry I'm with Hannah66665 in my attitude atm. So no CSC from me until problems are solved
2

Shawny

Or 45CSC. Just sitting there, nothing to spend it on. ;_; I'm echoing the other comments; how about news of the site's state?
3

Luvina

got anything for 24 CSC?....lol
4

Rick

I was thinking exactly the same as Hannah66665 . But she said it all.

I just add, when you can respond to my ticket from 4 days ago please do it! Maybe in the middle of creating new csc items, you can answer me and solve my problem!

Thank you.
5

Cassandra

@Hannah66665 Good points.
First month in a long while where I won't be buying CSC on a bonus weekend.
3

Hannah66665

How 'bout a single news post or staff acknowledgement regarding the state of the site?
I am aware that item releases, new pet colors, etc aren't handled by the lead programmers but it is very disheartening to see all of this content being rolled out when the site is becoming more broken with each day and that's not even counting Luminaire - gifting, trees, mysterious melody, it's all out of whack. I think that's more deserving of a news post? But nope, check out the cash shop even though it's not even the weekend yet! Honestly right now it looks like everyone made a run for it after Black Friday finished up and left the site to rot.
