New Project - Armory Sorting

FYI, Survival will not be starting tomorrow. Please don't post Survival questions to this news post, let's stay on (sword) point for the sorting. Thank you!

Glad to find out these are weapons LOL
I mostly went off what the item image looks like and what knowledge I do have of weapons (such as sporks are one handed swords) because the wearable overlays would stop loading after the first couple items. I realized nearing 250 that the subjectiveness of this should be very helpful.
always happy to help with little tasks like this :D plus it helps with the wait for the token shop

@Tessalia
Bats would be a club or blunt weapon. Maces are technically this too (their special trademark are the spikes on the end to inflict bleed damage), but not all blunt weapons are a mace! Your hammers, clubs, bats, maces and general heavy object used for whacking something over the head for blunt force trauma is going to be a blunt weapon.

thank you for this, I love to help!! I have to admit that it is a relief to read the comments and see I am not the only one with questions in regards to some items... phew! doing my best but things like, for example, a bat... is it a mace? I assumed so. Look forward to what you guys do with these categories --the Battle coliseum was due an update!! (such as being able to train all your pets with just one click, instead of going one by one as we have to right now) :)
Love subeta and proud to say I have been a member for close to 15 years! <3

Always happy to help with little tasks like this - I'm curious to see what these will be used for in battling, and how the battling system is going to change!

Also I think I broke the sorting page, now it's perpetually spinning in loading. xD i don't think I've gotten every weapon yet!

@Chinchilla
Scepters are generally a staff, but if it looks short when held in the HA, like doesn't reach the ground, I'd call it more a wand. There was one scepter I listed as a wand because it looked more like one than a staff.

All of the items coming up either can be used in battle, or have some sort of 🤫 secret use. Usually they're old PVP items (like the potions....... you could throw them at a pet in PvP and change their color 🙃 why did I do that?!) -- just choose whatever feels right and we'll be able to pull out some useful information :D

A suggestion. Instead of having "sword" as a category, maybe make it "blade" so the daggers and knives can go with them?
Also would a scepter be on handed staff or a wand? I've been doing one handed staff as most staffs are two handed.

Keith's not adding other categories right now since the sorting has started to keep things more organized, but more categories like that might be part of doing another round with another prize. In the meantime, the vibe is the thing and a lot of this is subjective anyway. Mistakes aren't going to count against people, we promise. This is for research purposes to improve projects in the future, not to punish people for giving us their time and effort (which we very much appreciate!)

Basically a greatsword or sword that would be determined as two-handed is going to have a long grip as opposed to a short sword. If it looks heavy, has a huge blade or a long grip, it's going to probably be a two-handed weapon in battle. Big clubs and hammers and double-sided axes are also going to be two-handed typically.

@Snowwall - shields go under one-handed: shield imo. "Worn" category is not about whether a particular battle item doubles as a wearable. For example: a sword item may double as a wearable on the avatar, but it's a sword and goes into one/two handed sword category. And a chest-armor item may not double as a wearable on the avatar at all, but in theory it's an item meant to be worn and goes into "worn" category.

Is it possible to make the checkbox next to "Magical" darker, because I literally could not see it for like 10 minutes until I read comments and realized it was a checkbox NEXT to the title
I've been getting potions (like spectrum and sun). I don't think those are weapons, unless I'm wrong.
I also thought of some more categories:
powders (bottles of powder, sacks)
Rayguns
Talisman
Charms
Potions you drink (Pylonics)

We also need a blunt weapon category. Clubs, bats and hammers all fall under blunt force weaponry.

@Bliss
Basically we have a lot of weapons that don't fit the listed categories, which is just a slight oversight. Like, we have a lot of polearms, which include spears, glaives, halberds, pikes and lances. These are weapons that have excellent spacing, usually light enough to be one-handed, are usually fast. We have glove/clawing weapons that don't fit any category either.

Is it possible to get categories for daggers, knives, whips, scythes and magical weapons? I tried really hard to help and so far (I just want to help), I've done over 250. What happens if we try to help, but make mistakes? I'm not really concerned about the avatar border , but for those users who are--what happens if they tried and made mistakes? Do they get to keep the border?

Technically no. Daggers/knives are a short-range weapon that require up-close and personal type of combat. These are stabbing/thrust weapons typically, though not unusual to use slashing moves, but the idea is to stab as many times as possible quickly. A sword is different as it gives you some spacing, and is comfortably wielded as both thrust and slash. Katanas are a sword though, a specific kind of of course.

@Marina
Aha, ok, thanks. But there's some items I have no idea where to place them, like a wearable that's also a bomb that's also held and we don't have held...feels like Joey in Friends, a pen that's also a clock...

@MarchOnOff There's a new achievement that gives you the border, you can check your current number completed there!

Uhm...been clicking and reading on stuff for like 30 min, is anything suppose to happen? Do I keep going on...?

Basically if you're gonna pull from Dark Souls, pull every category of weapon. xD You could probably get away with not using ultra greatswords or katanas for categories, I'd just throw those types of weapons under 'greatsword' or 'sword'. Most shields are typically one-handed aside greatshields.
I'm not sure what this system is going to lead to, but if it's to incorporate more stats, it's certainly curious!

Also I assume by 'magical' does this mean elemental components? I'm a bit confused by this, but I assume it has to do more so with staves that do sorcery/magic damage.

This id fun! Kinda wish for choosing other, you could write in what you think something is. Like we have a lot of dagger/knife class weapons that function different to a sword. Same with spears.
Basically I love the dark Souls vibe of these classifications, but the categories could easily expand to more types to really make sure it is accurate!

You should DEFINITELY give us the achievement, "HELP SUBETA WITH SOMETHING IMPORTANT' -- definitely!

I've a question, will this affect how we are allowed to use weapons in the future? I ask this because battling is already so optimized and hard to improve sets even at medium tiers, I cannot imagine what I would do if I couldn't, say, use the Forj Tempered Kusarigama and Replica Minotaur Knocker on the same turn.

ohhh i dont think its even intentional but this is the most fun i've had on subeta in ages, literally raking my brain with philosophical questions like "is a snowball a bomb?", i LOVE it (not sarcasm)
because I forgot these exist:
I'd probably throw small/big crossbows with small/big guns
flamethrower, grenade launcher etc: big gun
chainsaw: OTHER
....frisbees, chakrams and boomerangs with other non-sword cutting or bludgeoning weapons respectively?

Okay soooo hard to say what are your intentions guys, but at this point my personal checklist would be something like:
___- could it be used with one hand
______- small sword
______- knife/dagger/sickle
______- mace/hammer/nunchuck/morning star/axe etc
______- whip
______- orb
______- gun/slingshot
______- magic wand/staff (half your height or less)
______- OTHER
(NOTE:
___- does it need both hands to use
______- big sword
______- big mace/hammer/morning star/battering ram/axe etc
______- big gun/slingshot/harpoon/catapult etc
______- halberd/polearm/spear/(wizard) staff
______- scythe (inherently 2 handed imo)
______- bow (inherently 2 handed imo)
______- PAIRED SET (see note above)
______- OTHER
___(most are one handed but can keep the 2 handed distinction here for a couple rly massive ones)
___- bomb/potion/grenade/dart/throwing knife/arrow
___- is it armor (helm/shoulders/chest etc)
___- is it an enchanted amulet/ring/trinket
- is this something you'd hold in your hands to attack (weapon)
___- could it be used with one hand
______- small sword
______- knife/dagger/sickle
______- mace/hammer/nunchuck/morning star/axe etc
______- whip
______- orb
______- gun/slingshot
______- magic wand/staff (half your height or less)
______- OTHER
(NOTE:
- if it's a set of two it's 2 handed
- if it kinda looks one handed but it's on a /very/ long chain a la the kusarigama weapon it's probably 2 handed? idk discuss)
___- does it need both hands to use
______- big sword
______- big mace/hammer/morning star/battering ram/axe etc
______- big gun/slingshot/harpoon/catapult etc
______- halberd/polearm/spear/(wizard) staff
______- scythe (inherently 2 handed imo)
______- bow (inherently 2 handed imo)
______- PAIRED SET (see note above)
______- OTHER
- is this a shield (shield)
___(most are one handed but can keep the 2 handed distinction here for a couple rly massive ones)
- is this something you'd throw at an opponent (thrown)
___- bomb/potion/grenade/dart/throwing knife/arrow
- is this primarily on your body and not held (worn)
___- is it armor (helm/shoulders/chest etc)
___- is it an enchanted amulet/ring/trinket
- is this an animal companion or otherwise really not a weapon (other)

What a nice way to help. Sometimes I forget what I was clicking on when a similar item was asked before, because of the amount of items. laugh But I'm happy to read that a fine-tuning for more categories is a option (and that I'm not the only one who which to have more categories). I don't see a plushie as weapon like
(as long as it's not the
). So it would be very helpful in future to think about more categories.
I just wonder how long we have the chance to help on this project? Will it open for 2-4 weeks? Shorter or longer? I would help as much as I can.

Got it, thanks :)
Well, this was fun actually, thanks for the border guys! <3
