Cuirass of the Literati
Hello, Subetans! We have a battle-related community project, with a shiny new icon cosmetic as a prize for your help. Subeta has a lot of fun items, and we'd like to catch up on the organization of them with your thoughts and feedback to inform new features. Please read the instructions and give the armory sorting a try here!

FYI, Survival will not be starting tomorrow. Please don't post Survival questions to this news post, let's stay on (sword) point for the sorting. Thank you!

@METROID

Got it, thanks :)

Well, this was fun actually, thanks for the border guys! <3

Stocking

Sponge
Santie-Claws Tree Decoration

Glad to find out these are weapons LOL

I mostly went off what the item image looks like and what knowledge I do have of weapons (such as sporks are one handed swords) because the wearable overlays would stop loading after the first couple items. I realized nearing 250 that the subjectiveness of this should be very helpful.
0

Bokuto

always happy to help with little tasks like this :D plus it helps with the wait for the token shop
0

Theatre

@Rathoren

At least for the first 250, you can use the achievement as a counter to track how many you've done.
0

Rathoren

how do we know how many items we have helped sort? can you guys do a counter?
0

METROID

@Tessalia
Bats would be a club or blunt weapon. Maces are technically this too (their special trademark are the spikes on the end to inflict bleed damage), but not all blunt weapons are a mace! Your hammers, clubs, bats, maces and general heavy object used for whacking something over the head for blunt force trauma is going to be a blunt weapon.
2

Tessalia

thank you for this, I love to help!! I have to admit that it is a relief to read the comments and see I am not the only one with questions in regards to some items... phew! doing my best but things like, for example, a bat... is it a mace? I assumed so. Look forward to what you guys do with these categories --the Battle coliseum was due an update!! (such as being able to train all your pets with just one click, instead of going one by one as we have to right now) :)
Love subeta and proud to say I have been a member for close to 15 years! <3
0

Marcus

Always happy to help with little tasks like this - I'm curious to see what these will be used for in battling, and how the battling system is going to change!
0

Chinchilla

And yeah, you have to refresh every now and again when it's taking too long.
0

Chinchilla

Thank you @METROID for the clarification. Sounds good!
0

METROID

Also I think I broke the sorting page, now it's perpetually spinning in loading. xD i don't think I've gotten every weapon yet!
0

METROID

@Chinchilla
Scepters are generally a staff, but if it looks short when held in the HA, like doesn't reach the ground, I'd call it more a wand. There was one scepter I listed as a wand because it looked more like one than a staff.
3

Keith

All of the items coming up either can be used in battle, or have some sort of 🤫 secret use. Usually they're old PVP items (like the potions....... you could throw them at a pet in PvP and change their color 🙃 why did I do that?!) -- just choose whatever feels right and we'll be able to pull out some useful information :D
4

Chinchilla

A suggestion. Instead of having "sword" as a category, maybe make it "blade" so the daggers and knives can go with them?

Also would a scepter be on handed staff or a wand? I've been doing one handed staff as most staffs are two handed.
3

Bliss

@Galaxia
Thank you so much for clearing that up. It would be neat to see other things like this in the future :)
0

Galaxia

@Bliss

Keith's not adding other categories right now since the sorting has started to keep things more organized, but more categories like that might be part of doing another round with another prize. In the meantime, the vibe is the thing and a lot of this is subjective anyway. Mistakes aren't going to count against people, we promise. This is for research purposes to improve projects in the future, not to punish people for giving us their time and effort (which we very much appreciate!)
3

METROID

Basically a greatsword or sword that would be determined as two-handed is going to have a long grip as opposed to a short sword. If it looks heavy, has a huge blade or a long grip, it's going to probably be a two-handed weapon in battle. Big clubs and hammers and double-sided axes are also going to be two-handed typically.
2

feral

Sorting these made me realize how little variety we actually have in weapon types OTL
2

Bliss

@Kicak
We have a lot of one handed items and a lot of items that don't fit any category
0

Bliss

@METROID
I noticed those too. I've been putting them as "other"
0

Kicak

@Snowwall - shields go under one-handed: shield imo. "Worn" category is not about whether a particular battle item doubles as a wearable. For example: a sword item may double as a wearable on the avatar, but it's a sword and goes into one/two handed sword category. And a chest-armor item may not double as a wearable on the avatar at all, but in theory it's an item meant to be worn and goes into "worn" category.
2

Christopher

Is it possible to make the checkbox next to "Magical" darker, because I literally could not see it for like 10 minutes until I read comments and realized it was a checkbox NEXT to the title
1

Bliss

I've been getting potions (like spectrum and sun). I don't think those are weapons, unless I'm wrong.

I also thought of some more categories:
powders (bottles of powder, sacks)
Rayguns
Talisman
Charms
Potions you drink (Pylonics)
0

METROID

We also need a blunt weapon category. Clubs, bats and hammers all fall under blunt force weaponry.
2

METROID

@Bliss
Basically we have a lot of weapons that don't fit the listed categories, which is just a slight oversight. Like, we have a lot of polearms, which include spears, glaives, halberds, pikes and lances. These are weapons that have excellent spacing, usually light enough to be one-handed, are usually fast. We have glove/clawing weapons that don't fit any category either.
1

Bliss

@Galaxia
Is it possible to get categories for daggers, knives, whips, scythes and magical weapons? I tried really hard to help and so far (I just want to help), I've done over 250. What happens if we try to help, but make mistakes? I'm not really concerned about the avatar border , but for those users who are--what happens if they tried and made mistakes? Do they get to keep the border?
0

Bliss

@METROID
Damn. I'll have to put knives and daggers under other. I'm sure staff know that they're gonna have to re-sort these for mistakes ;-;
0

METROID

@Bliss
Technically no. Daggers/knives are a short-range weapon that require up-close and personal type of combat. These are stabbing/thrust weapons typically, though not unusual to use slashing moves, but the idea is to stab as many times as possible quickly. A sword is different as it gives you some spacing, and is comfortably wielded as both thrust and slash. Katanas are a sword though, a specific kind of of course.
0

Bliss

@METROID
I've been putting dagger(s) under sword. I hope that's still considered the same thing?
0

METROID

@MarchOnOff
I put those under trinket - other
2

Bliss

Trying my best to help :)
1

MarchOnOff

Where to place Defense Tag or Sack of Crystalline Shards, for instance?
0

MarchOnOff

@Marina

Aha, ok, thanks. But there's some items I have no idea where to place them, like a wearable that's also a bomb that's also held and we don't have held...feels like Joey in Friends, a pen that's also a clock...
1

Marina

@MarchOnOff There's a new achievement that gives you the border, you can check your current number completed there!
2

METROID

@Tribble
I'd look at the size of the shield, especially if you hover over and the HA is wearing it. If it is a small shield, it's easily one-handed. A two-handed shield is going to take up a huge portion of the canvas even if the HA is able to hold it one-handed.
1

EsMentiras

please please please add a section for daggers!
1

Caterpillar

Are there no more items to sort once it doesn't load up any more items?
0

MarchOnOff

Uhm...been clicking and reading on stuff for like 30 min, is anything suppose to happen? Do I keep going on...?
2

KEN

I agree with @Chazezmom
This project should give out the 'Help Subeta With Something Important' achievement.
4

METROID

I mean there's no spork category. HOW COULD YOU FORGET THE ALMIGHTY SPORK?
0

METROID

Basically if you're gonna pull from Dark Souls, pull every category of weapon. xD You could probably get away with not using ultra greatswords or katanas for categories, I'd just throw those types of weapons under 'greatsword' or 'sword'. Most shields are typically one-handed aside greatshields.

I'm not sure what this system is going to lead to, but if it's to incorporate more stats, it's certainly curious!
0

METROID

Also I assume by 'magical' does this mean elemental components? I'm a bit confused by this, but I assume it has to do more so with staves that do sorcery/magic damage.
0

METROID

This id fun! Kinda wish for choosing other, you could write in what you think something is. Like we have a lot of dagger/knife class weapons that function different to a sword. Same with spears.
Basically I love the dark Souls vibe of these classifications, but the categories could easily expand to more types to really make sure it is accurate!
1

Chazezmom

You should DEFINITELY give us the achievement, "HELP SUBETA WITH SOMETHING IMPORTANT' -- definitely!
2

Daydream

I've a question, will this affect how we are allowed to use weapons in the future? I ask this because battling is already so optimized and hard to improve sets even at medium tiers, I cannot imagine what I would do if I couldn't, say, use the Forj Tempered Kusarigama and Replica Minotaur Knocker on the same turn.
0

Daydream

ohhh i dont think its even intentional but this is the most fun i've had on subeta in ages, literally raking my brain with philosophical questions like "is a snowball a bomb?", i LOVE it (not sarcasm)
1

Evil

@jhyllah, @Evil

Oh - just hit the "Magical" box and move on :p.

2

Silverfish

because I forgot these exist:

I'd probably throw small/big crossbows with small/big guns
flamethrower, grenade launcher etc: big gun
chainsaw: OTHER
....frisbees, chakrams and boomerangs with other non-sword cutting or bludgeoning weapons respectively?
0

Silverfish

Okay soooo hard to say what are your intentions guys, but at this point my personal checklist would be something like:

- is this something you'd hold in your hands to attack (weapon)
___- could it be used with one hand
______- small sword
______- knife/dagger/sickle
______- mace/hammer/nunchuck/morning star/axe etc
______- whip
______- orb
______- gun/slingshot
______- magic wand/staff (half your height or less)
______- OTHER

(NOTE:
- if it's a set of two it's 2 handed
- if it kinda looks one handed but it's on a /very/ long chain a la the kusarigama weapon it's probably 2 handed? idk discuss)

___- does it need both hands to use
______- big sword
______- big mace/hammer/morning star/battering ram/axe etc
______- big gun/slingshot/harpoon/catapult etc
______- halberd/polearm/spear/(wizard) staff
______- scythe (inherently 2 handed imo)
______- bow (inherently 2 handed imo)
______- PAIRED SET (see note above)
______- OTHER

- is this a shield (shield)
___(most are one handed but can keep the 2 handed distinction here for a couple rly massive ones)

- is this something you'd throw at an opponent (thrown)
___- bomb/potion/grenade/dart/throwing knife/arrow

- is this primarily on your body and not held (worn)
___- is it armor (helm/shoulders/chest etc)
___- is it an enchanted amulet/ring/trinket

- is this an animal companion or otherwise really not a weapon (other)
3

GanondorfDragmiere

What a nice way to help. Sometimes I forget what I was clicking on when a similar item was asked before, because of the amount of items. *laugh* But I'm happy to read that a fine-tuning for more categories is a option (and that I'm not the only one who which to have more categories). I don't see a plushie as weapon like
Dancing Mad Maracas Plushie
(as long as it's not the
Bear Plushie Bomb
). So it would be very helpful in future to think about more categories.

I just wonder how long we have the chance to help on this project? Will it open for 2-4 weeks? Shorter or longer? I would help as much as I can.
0

indica

there should be a category for minions/creatures since i ran into quite a few equippable minions and non-minion creatures when sorting haha xD
1

kaliope

Does it count right? I got the achievement and avatar boarder and I doubt I sorted 250 items already.
0

Silverfish

I'm so confused for half of these, but okay

Some blatant examples would probably come in handy
0

Kinky

@Luck, So did I. If it didn't have an aura, even if it was a wand or something, I didn't mark it as magical. Like, obviously they are probably magical, but most didn't have an aura.
4

Syre

I think a category like "support" would be a good addition (for things like shrines and auras that surround the pet). Even if they do damage as well, they're not really weapons you wield in 1-2 hands or throw. Also something like "minion" (not that exact word maybe to avoid confusion with the other kinds of minions we have on site). There seem to be a lot of items that are just an animal/spirit you bring with you to battle. As mentioned by others there are some weapon types that pop up a lot, like daggers, that could use their own subcategory.

Also I think bows could just be available as 2-handed only and shields as 1-handed only. For regular bows you can't use them 1-handed, and most shields would be 1-handed (I guess you could have a really wide shield that requires 2 hands, but I don't know if we have an item like that and it would be an exception). Everything else seems like it could be both 1 or 2-handed, but bow/shield just seem like they never would. (Unless you're dual wielding shields :P). (Also, for 2-handed orbs, I've been putting the SubetaBalls there because mentally I think of them as having the size of basketballs).

I haven't been looking at the actual stats of any weapons, only considering the item/overlay art and name/description. I find it a bit hard to judge what is magical and not. It seems like almost everything could be magical. Are all elements magic? Then any weapon that does any damage aside from Physical would be magical. But to avoid classing everything as magic, I've been thinking that it should seem truly magical, and not just reference an element.
0

Luck

Oh - it seems I took it mega Literally and only marked things as magical if they had an aura 😳
6

kytten

Did the best i could! The border is very pretty. :)
0

Thia

maybe there should be a category for things like hammers and baseball bats. Bludgeon?
0

Tribble

@Scathach
I have been assuming all amulets and wands are magic, otherwise going by name or item description
1

Scathach

How does one tell if an item is magical?
0

Thia

okay how can an orb be one-handed or two-handed?
4

Sneaky

Will there be other chances to get the border if we don't get it this time?
0

Tribble

How do we tell a one handed shield from a two handed shield?
0

demon

mostly the quills confused me, i placed them in other.
1

Thia

okay turns out if you refresh the page, you get a new item, so you can just do that if you're not sure of something
0

Thia

does a crown count as a helm?
0

Valiska

You need a knife category. They're not swords!
0

Reaper

Seconding or thirding or possibly more-ing folks who've brought up that we need a "this is not a weapon" option. On top of things like
Angelic Potion
, I have now also gotten
Forj
which I can see is classed as a weapon but like...why? As far as I can tell it has no stats at all.
4

Satyr

I feel like I used "other" too many times, but oh well. I had fun with it.
0

Marina

@Tribble Wow, I didn't think of checking the achievements either, haha. Thanks for the tip!

Though I was wondering if it was going to count towards the "Helper" achievement ("Help the Subeta Team with something important!"). What is that achievement used for these days?
1

Reaper

@Tribble
Now why you gotta go and be logical like that? Lol! I forgot achievements were a thing to check *headdesk*
0

Tribble

@Reaper I keep going back to my achievements to check progress
1

Reaper

Only complaint is that I wish there was a counter somewhere so I could see how much progress I've made towards 250 lol
0

Nerds

@Snowwall
I think worn items doesn't always mean they're in the wearable system.
2

Marina

I had no idea that the Twilight Potion was a weapon. Neat.

Also, I want to second that I keep getting stuck debating myself on one- vs two-handed bows...Pretty sure all longbow-style bows should be 2-handers, though. Maybe small crossbows could be 1-handed.
0

Terra

also! is 'magical' for things like wand/staffs (ie things that magic casters might use) or is it for items that have some kind of aura in the art? like dark matter?
1

Greymane

Suggested additions:
Under Wearable:
-Face
-Back
-Wrist

Not a Weapon - For mistakes

And "Meteor Crossbow" is clearly a longbow. :P
3

Terra

we need a category for dagger/knives, whips, and scythes.
i'm also unsure how to differentiate between one-handed and two-handed weapons? do we go by the wardrobe overlay--where most weapons are held in one hand just due to the base--or whether the weapon is traditionally used with one or two hands in real life?
i am confusion.
5

NoLongerHuman

nice! I tried my best judgment (and some research) to sort everything that was shown to me. hope to have helped a bit. thanks for the border <3
1

Kinky

@Tribble, I went with 'other' as well, but someone further down said you could put them into the sword category. Those, hammers, scythes, and lances just went into 'other' because they don't really fit into any other category right, imo.
0

Armor

I keep forgetting to select "magical" for things that are obviously magical (wands etc) -o-

@Tribble I've been choosing "other" for daggers/knives as well--they're not really the same as swords!
0

Tribble

I have been choosing "other" for daggers and knives, as they aren't really swords. What is everyone else doing with them?
0

Snowwall

Gilded Targe
for me looks wearable (previews to a "held in one hand" avatar).
So, is it "Worn" or "One Handed"?! "One-handed" can be a shield, while "Worn" cannot be...

Particulars aside, I would love an explanation as to what the five categories are meant to be. You know, for the non-battle-oriented folk who haven't the foggiest what is the difference between a potion and a bomb battle-wise and can only go by the look of the item?
0

Ariko

Yessssss organizing items my beloved pastime ♥️
And the sort page is so neat and organized too. Categories could use some additions (lances/spears, daggers, minion) but overall very relaxing. I love putting things into neat little (virtual) boxes~
2

Les

Hmmm... Hammer might be another category needed depending on how many hammers i run across...
0

Dracona

I did the best I could!
0

Kinky

Welp, did my best with my limited knowledge of the items!
1

Mort

I apologize in advance for the potential mistakes. I will sort out the rest in the next few days.
0

Blythe

I love all of the items I’m discovering. Goose-a-pult, anyone? Also, didn’t realize
Nicole Richie
was a weapon…um…other, other. 😂
1

Julie

I like to check to see if I have some of these weapons. Plus it reminds me of all the awesome battle weapons the site has.
0

Delphi

Done! Good luck to the rest of you all! ♥️
0

BlueRiver

Say, what about healers like
Shinwas Healing Wine
? Where do those go?
1

Blythe

I just realized you can only choose one option. I was pretty pleased with myself - this one is worn on the hand AND thrown AND an other type weapon…whoopsies. So, now I’ll just do the one that seems like it makes the most sense. I like these kind of all-hands-on-deck projects. 😊
0

Rude

Every time I submit one, the item preview for the next won't even pop up unless I refresh entirely. Any idea if there's a fix for this?
0

Nebet

I just got the border, I did the best I could! :) This was kinda fun yet challenging.
1

Narshe

I dont do battles or pets to have an opinion over this but I am interested to see what follows!
0

Pinocchio

It's really hard to see the "Magical" checkbox, but now that I know where it is I'LL DO MY BEST. The achievement for this popped up yesterday and I was like "??? Where is this sorting project" but here it is finally. XD
0

Galaxia

@Chocolate
We're not removing this for a bit, there are a lot of items to go through. So you have some time if you need to get to it later, and we'll provide notice if a deadline is set.

@Ang
Giving it your best shot is the whole of it, thank you for helping!
3

Galaxia

@Kinky
You're not going to be docked for having an opinion, promise! Especially on matters of whether something is magical or not, or if you make a judgement call on the description rather than the overlay or vice versa. Even just putting something in the other>other category because you're just not sure about it is going to be all right.

@dude
Please don't feel bad for pinging me, I'm glad to help! You can put it in 'other' right now if you prefer, or you could put it in swords depending on how you feel about the length and classification. It's less about right or wrong. More the idea of if we were to make an opponent or an event in the future that used these categories, what helps with that experience? If a battle opponent or NPC had swords listed as an interest or item pool, what out of Subeta's battle items would you expect to see (or what would throw you out of immersion)?
4

Anrivef

Took me a little under 2 hours to get the achievement, cross-referencing with Subegalodge for weapon info (many thanks to them!!)
This was a great task, and a wonderful reward for it c: thanks for letting us help!
0

Julie

This should be fun and interesting. I'm with @Kevin, I wonder what this will assist in.
0

Kevin

Makes me wonder what this will result in
1

Chocolate

What's the timeline on this project?

Can there be an announced end time? I'd like to get to 250, but might not be able to do that tonight.
4

Ang

just did a bunch of these. a couple big question marks I had every time: besides running into a lot of daggers that I wasn't sure whether to sort as swords or not, there were also a ton of whips and tridents that might merit their own category.

also, I feel like there's going to be a different approach by person whether to sort the brass knuckles by "worn" or not. same for the various claws, tails, etc. that are seemingly used as weapons but were...worn?...by the original animal it came from? and are also wearables on the avatar.

stars and shurikens aren't "thrown" in battle the same way you throw bombs & potions as part of the battle mechanics on subeta, but that also was a confusing element to decide on while I was sorting.

just some thoughts. I made my decisions based on what I thought the spirit of what y'all are asking for is but those were the big "wait...I'm confused" moments for me.
4

BoaConstrictor

Why do the item descriptions show up with such weird rarities?
I've been wondering about Free Gifts. Now I have Stasis, which I KNOW is not. Would be nice to get a technically 120 mio item as a free gift though, rofl.
1

Haswari

Me: "Wtf is that?"
Me: "Wtf is that?"
Me: "Wtf is THAT?"
14

Brioche

@jhyllah, ask @Evil he owns her. 🤣🤣🤣
0

Sorcerer

@BoaConstrictor
I just used Other > other for worn weapons, also stuff like dragons/monsters on your shoulder type stuff. Definitely a weird case.
1

foxfaeble

some of the stuff I was given to sort was really tough... and I had no idea there were so many quills and feathers! lmao
thanks for the pretty new border tho!
1

Haswari

A knife/dagger category would cover a lot!
7

BoaConstrictor

One handed bows? Even using a crossbow would need two - or?
5

AngerAndAgony

I hope? I'm doing this right? This is tough.
1

BoaConstrictor

Worn has only armor but no attackers.
So I'm putting all of these in Two Handed (mostly) other weapon.
This is tough
Arrows into bows?
1

Sorcerer

Lots of stuff is falling in one-handed > other for me (whips, daggers).
Got the 250 achievement already, hardly ran into any two-handed weapons.
2

EmilyMae

@Laurey @Klassikal @Stocking
Thank you so much :) I really appreciate your help <3
1

666

ok this is kind of relaxing ~

If you ever do this in the future for other things, I think it would be cool to be able to go through and sort a handful of items at once or be able to overlap categories (1 handed + wearable, for example).
5

Rogue

Am I the only one who thinks there should be a 'whip' subcategory?
14

Laurey

Oops, 5 boxes not 4, but you get the idea ^^
0

Klassikal

@EmilyMae One handed / Two handed / Worn / Thrown / Other is the category. The smaller choices (axe / wand / orb...) are subcategories. So you only technically mark one choice, and mark the box at the bottom if there is an aura.
0

Klassikal

1

Stocking

@EmilyMae The category is the title in bold, like One-Handed or Two-Handed. The sub category is what's under that. So you pick the main category, and the refine it down. :-)
0

Melody

I'm having some trouble with one handed vs two handed for some items, and it would be helpful if there was a "not a weapon" option (I used "other" when I got an Arid Potion even though it is a potion, I don't think that is really a weapon?). Trying my best to help out though, neat project! <3
3

Laurey

@EmilyMae
I think the categories are supposed to be the 4 main boxes, so
One Handed
Two Handed
Worn
Thrown
Other

And then the sub-category is the more specific choice that you make within the box.
2

EmilyMae

This is so confusing 0_0 it has been a very long day and I am just not understanding this. I don't want to mess it up :(
It says "Please choose one (1) category and sub-category" So would that be making 2 selections? It will only let me click on one option.
Sorry if this is a dumb question. I am just trying to get it right.
2

Stocking

@jhyllah That item takes me out laughing every time I'm reminded it exists but this....Clearly the strongest in the armory.
1

Avel

@Galaxia Apparently there's no description for this item? Is this intentional?
Bracer of Flame
3

boy

@Galaxia
So sorry for pinging you, but I wonder if short blades should go into swords?
2

Kyocera

I took "worn" as items of clothing rather than wearables.
3

Kyocera

@jhyllah it is actually a weapon 😂
0

Kinky

There's no 'held' option for wearing? Also, dark matter; is that an aura? Are reborn weapons considered having an aura? Or no, because it's just part of the actual color? Are war hammers considered 'other' or 'maces' in this instance? I'm trying my hardest, but there's not enough options for what needs to be done, and not enough explanation ,I guess. Also, it seems to be only giving me the option to select ONE option for some of them. Like, some of the shields. They are shields, and worn, but I could only pick one option. I don't want to be docked for not being able to sort to the best of my abilities.
2

Rogue

This is kinda hard, but fun
2

Lypsyl

@Laurey ah...thank you. That box is invisible, but if I run the mouse over the spot you indicated it does turn into an input cursor.
0

jhyllah

So the item
Nicole Richie
popped up for me and....?

Hilarious as it could be as a weapon, I'm not sure it should be there 😂
8

Xezvi

I second Cauld's question: the Dimensional Hammer is held in one hand in the overlay, because it's pretty hard to draw a two-handed weapon with how the HAs stand, but the length of the handle is definately for a two-handed grip. And I'll call it a mace, because a battle hammer is used for bashing?

Further explanation would be appreciated.
1

beinagrind

Also:
Aquamarine Encrusted Gunblade (Right Hand)
gun or sword??? Gord?
3

beinagrind

Wish we could edit our choices bc i fucked up a few times oops

@Lypsyl
There should be a check box next to the sparkle emoji where it says Magical
0

Lypsyl

I decided my item was indeed magical...but there is nothing to click to indicate its magical? Is it my browser, or is there really nothing to click?
0

StarShadow

Interesting. Thanks for the input option.
0

Kyocera

Thanks for the new border! There are definitely items in there that aren't weapons!
0

Puncture

This is tricky ;_;

Laurey

Under Worn > Armor could there maybe be an option for "Back"? There have been some things like wings and such that would fit better in a section like that instead of instead of just chest or shoulder I guess

Rumi

Dancing Mad Maracas Plushie
...this item came up for me, but is it even a weapon? Looks like just a plushie to me ^^
3

Stocking

Maybe a silly suggestion, but could the categories be organized alphabetically? I'm sure I'll have the order memorized eventually but it'd make it a little easier.
1

Luck

Dragon Soul
Not sure where to put this, the item image is a dragon but the wearable is a... I'm not actually sure what that is. Scythe?
2

BoaConstrictor

oh, so it shall remain "other"...
0

Jovi

I think it might be nice to add a checkbox for "this really shouldnt be a weapon" if we're concerned about weapon bloat
16

BoaConstrictor

Good, because we have a ton of daggers and knives. Was just going to ask.
1

Cranberry

Daggers/knives can go under Other or Sword, whatever... we'll take a look at the results and do any further sorting needed! As long as you're doing your best, it's all good.
6

Galaxia

I've put in a note that categories for polearms and knives would be useful!
7

Princess

How should daggers be categorized? I've been putting them under one-handed other currently since they're technically not swords.
2

Galaxia

@Anoniemmus

Subeta briefly had a PvP battling option, and you could throw the potions at them. So thrown potion is the best bet for those.
0

frederick

@kuzi Glaives, halberds, spears, scythes, and other long pointed sticks could probably be put in a 'polearm' category.
2

Anoniemmus

Just came across
Cream Potion
and that is not a weapon at all. So all the other not weapons in weapon tier 0 are probably also still in the list.
3

Rengar

@kuzi just my two cents, I'm going by the size, even if it's in one hand in the wearable, if it's gigantic I'm putting it as two handed, a lot of the wearables have the giant swords resting on the ground, so my guess is that it's 2 handed when wielded. They did say try your best D:??? I just don't think that giant sword is one handed plz
8

kuzi

please consider adding a scythes category (also minion, knives and dagger as suggested below)
10

frederick

(also, feather and spork might need to be their own categories. This is Subeta, yo)
12

kuzi

also random — but the interface for this is pretty nice!
0

Avel

This is hard.

Galaxia

@iciness @BlueRiver
You can think of it aura and magical as an OR, not an AND, operator. You can also use the item description to make the choice. Whatever you decide, though, giving it thought and going with your gut works just fine!

@Luck
Yeah, that was an interesting one for me as well. There is an 'other' category, the last one to the right, as the last option for things you don't feel fit the other categories.

@Pandora
Oh, interesting! Thanks for the report, I'll put it in.
4

kuzi

does the "one hand" / "two-hands" indicate that it is a wearable? for example, should
Onyx Shard Sword
, NOT a wearable, go in "one hand — sword", or "other — other"?
3

Luck

Also, I wish that dark mode new subeta's item hovers weren't white with white text. I have to stop and highlight just to read the descriptions.
1

frederick

No dagger or knife option either?
4

Phoenix

One handed vs Two handed - is this based on the appearance of the wearable overlay?
Are weapons without wearable overlays also categorized under one handed/two handed?
12

frederick

Ey, right off the bat I am offered a weapon that has no proper category! It's a polearm/halberd/glaive/spear sort of deal and the closest is staff D:
3

Woven

Any thoughts on would knives and daggers fall under sword or other?
5

SAILOR

@iciness

Oops, lemme just desktop this
0

Galaxia

@Rengar
You can also think of it as magic in general, magic and/or aura, and just generally go with your gut feeling or you can use the item description as a guide if you prefer.

@Shaman
As long as you're putting the good faith effort in, there are pretty much no wrong answers.

@Lanfan
If you check your achievements page, it'll show the number of items sorted as part of the red (before completion) counter under the Battle Item Sorter achievement.
5

BlueRiver

What constitutes an aura? Is
Water SubetaBall
magical?
0

iciness

@SAILOR Bomb is an option under the "Thrown" category
1

BoaConstrictor

Yippeeh, on new subeta... really?...
0

SAILOR

Could we get bomb as an option?
0

Luck

Starting me off with a doozy, huh. Asking me to sort
Battle Crow
and glancing at the options and seeing actual types of weapons listed and I'm just like uhh, uhh..

I love the border though so I'll be trying my best :D
4

Pandora

Maybe there should be a category for "not a weapon"? I just got a Spectrum Potion - unless Spectrum Potion is a weapon of some sort and I just didn't know haha
2

iciness

Interesting! For the magical question, does the followup of 'Does it have an aura?' mean we're only supposed to check Magical if it has a visible aura? Example of an item I'd consider magical but doesn't have a visible aura is Shinwas Heart Pendant, whose description says "This special pendant has amazing powers, and can only be purchased!" (But I'm not sure what to check since there is no aura)
4

Galaxia

@Lyonid

So long as you aren't doing something like classifying everything that comes up in your sorting a sword when it's clearly (and we mean CLEARLY) something else just to get through the 250 clicks for the border, we promise you're fine. People are going to have different ideas on what something looks like or what it could be. We're also open to adding categories for fine-tuning because it's about getting peoples' honest impressions. Thank you for giving it a shot!
5

Shaman

i hope i dont.. accidentslly sort to the wrong place
2

Rengar

oh goodness somehow this feels really hard, what counts as an Aura? Items like...duct tape and wings leave me clueless
1

Lanfan

Will there be a place where it will tell us how many items we’ve sorted?
4

DimDim

thx, give a info If the new feature works. meantime only subeta site
0

Tucker

Interesting. I'll do my best!
1

SAILOR

Definitely looks like an interesting project
0

mayla

This looks really interesting!

Lyonid

I love this! I hope I don't screw it up, haha.
