The body seems a little to..."scrunched in" as well as the face.
The tail is a tad too 'sparse' looking for me, and the head far too large. This results in a very 'front-heavy' appearance.
This could be nice, but frankly I think it needs a little more work.

I think you could make the tail a bit longer, it's just a little bit to short. Also it would look nicer if the head and eyes were a bit smaller, and the claws were longer on the hind feet.
I think the new one is cute, but I also think it could improve. Right now, I still prefer the old one.
It's head needs to be a little smaller, maybe take in the left cheek so it doesn't stick out so far. That's my main concern, but it would also be nice to have the legs a little thinner, seeing as they look too stubby.

It's definitely an improvement over the current version. The tails look a little shorter in comparison to the ones on the current version, though, and the angle of the head makes it look really wide. The eyes and shading look so much better on the proposed revamp, though, and it looks more three-dimensional now.
Very nice and cute. ^-^ I like how the feet and hooves were done, but I do agree that it looks a little too short. I love how the eyes were done, though. You did a beautiful job on the small light accents. =D (or whatever people call them)
But the tails bug me a bit. I like them a lot, but think they should be longer. =3 Also, the shadows stand out a bit too much. I think they should be toned down slightly. But you did an overall fabulous job. Keep up the good work! b^^d

The update is great except the face needs to be a bit more pudgy. The old one kinda had pudgy cheeks and a bit smaller head. I think that should be added to the new one. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />
I think the small/sparse tail is the main reason it looks chibi, the head is perhaps slightly larger than it needs to be, but it's not huge.
With a tail that small, the rest of it is going to look massive no matter what you do. This isn't the fault of the current artist, it's just a design flaw in the original Hikei.

I'll go more indepth in my previous views.
I don't like where the eye on the left side of the face is positioned. I realise it's meant to look like it's looking slightly towards the side, but the left eye still looks odd.
The neck should be a little longer as well in my opinion. Unless the artist wants it with a kind of 'chubby' look?
The back paws look a little odd. It looks like an oddly uncomfortable pose and it looks a little too fat.
I also think the tail could be a little longer.

To be true, I like it. It's a bit chibi-like and I usually don't like chibis, but I like this one. It reminds me of my little pony (I loved those when I was little XD). And it looks a bit like a donkey, which is great if you ask me. But as much as I love it, I really hope the dark matter one won't lose the evil look it has now.
i think the legs are too short along with the face, also i think there are too many shadows on the face, i think it could look better if the maine came a little bit futher down the back ^-^

The old one also had a different pose though, and while it wasn't the best, this isn't an upgrade by much. One of the main reasons this looks chibi to me is not the head though, but the eye I think.

I usually don't agree with everyone who says the old one is better, but I think in this case I prefer the old one. I think if it didn't look so horridly bulky it would be adorable, but it looks like a horse version of Hulk Hogan.
This looks much more like a chibi version of the bet than anything else. And I agree, the head is too large for the rest of the body... and with the angle,the head looks all too large, and it looks too rounded out and smooth, without much muscle to it at all. It resembles a pudgy baby burro more than anything else.

For those of you who are saying this looks like a chibi... I'd like to point you to the old one. It had a head larger than it's body, and tiny proportions.
I'm sorry, I voted old. I can see that the old one needs to be revamped, but compared to this revamp I prefer the old one by far. =/

I'm all for this new Hikei, though I think the color should be taken down a notch. ^^ It's so white! Even the old Hikei wasn't so white the highlights didn't show. Since the white is so... white, also, I think the shadows stand out a bit much.
But that's nothing. Overall I love it! :3 I'd be much happier with Avael as this than as the previous polled revamp.

Overall it is a HUGE improvement. The main is more detailed and lovely. The body is significantly better formed. The old one had sort of the hump on it's chest. xD I like that the tail is separate from the main - not on top of each other. I love the front hooves? on the new on - the detail there. The only thing I don't like better is the eyes. I prefer the one eye to the 1 1/2 eyes of the new Hikei. But I voted for the new one. It's significantly better, more detailed, more realistic. Beautiful job, whoever drew it.

For now I prefer the old-draw design-wise. On the new-draw I would recommend making the tail and back-feet larger, making the neck longer (the original Hikei didn't have a very long one, but the old one's pose also downplayed it and at this point he looks too lacking in equine-characteristics), and tweaking the face (the narrowness of his snout and the outward bulk of his cheeks makes me think of a dull-arrowhead). Additionally, a more interesting pose would quell a lot of complaints, I think. Overall, his limbs don't look strong enough to really be able to get around what with that chubby body.. and even if he could that large head would make him topple forwards. While proportions are by no means expected to be realistic for cartoons, this still seems a little too exaggerated.
There are other aspects I don't care for, but those are based more on how one chooses to interpret the Hikei and not necessarily on any design 'flaws' on the artist's part.
Honestly, I really love the chibi Hikei- I would love to see a little influence from that used in a revamp.

Hmmn. I think I'd make the tail a little longer, and the head somewhat smaller, to give it a bit more of a balanced feel. I too prefer the head angle of the old version; gave it a bit of a playful feel... But making the head smaller, even if you don't change the tilt, would improve things, methinks.
The only thing I like better on the new over the old are the front legs (not as clumsy). Pose/Head/way it looks is much better on the old one.
I think the Hikei we currently have right now should become the new Chibi Hikei. It's still really cute and a million times better than the current Chibi Hikei.
I completely agree that everyone should be able to state their opinion but the thing to remember is that without the artists there would be no Subeta. There's honestly no reason to call something ugly. That doesn't help in the least. Say you don't like it, then give suggestions on how you think it should be improved.
