I see the battle items aren't discounted, are they going to be retired at the end of the sale, or can I wait to get them later? (Mocking Clock, Living Petri Dish, ect.) Just making sure I don't miss my one chance if this is it!!

Will the CW Spotlight be limited to the CW Shop? I have no interest in such things and would rather not see them posted in the general news / cash shop.

It's literally the same thing as putting up an item they like in the news post. Y'all know me, I never miss a chance to get annoyed after all this time, but this is the exact same thing but an advertisement for the whole shop instead of a single item. Honestly, sign me up for MORE of the focus being on the releaser and creator instead of promoting this culture of 'you HAVE to research'. I see a lot of paranoia but while reality is less interesting, it's more logical.

Good news - I just finished the work on adding the cart back for Boutique and Costume Trunks. You should see it show up soon :)

@Valiska Definitely valid concerns, and I also like your idea of limiting how many items from the same user can show up on the feed. It sounds like you have a lot of good suggestions and insights on this. I encourage you to make a forum topic to continue the discussion (as news comments are cumbersome for discussions like these)

@Bug Out of curiosity, why not do something random that is also new? I understand that the old feed was probably buggy and I don't want anything put back up that contributes to lag but...CW spotlights are a great idea.
But the concern that only shops that the staff happen to like will be included is extremely valid.
So is my concern that only new releases are currently being promoted.
And my concern that people who release infrequently will get dropped off the board when someone else drops 6 items at once? Also extremely valid.
Sometimes I really think there should be a limit for how many items one person can have on the feed at one time. Two people had 45% of the items on the feed (11/24) the last time I checked it, and they had multiple colours of the same item up.
I'll think about UX behaviour that might encourage exploration, but my other concerns aren't going away :)

@Valiska We hear you, and you're right that the new feed doesn't help people discover CWs as the random feed did. We are not planning to bring back the random feed at this time, but we're hoping to give users other ways to discover new CW shops (for instance, through a "CW spotlight" as some of the other staff have mentioned in these comments).

Ooh, that's a good insight. It would be great if there was a way to encourage people to keep exploring after they buy an item. If you (or anyone else) have suggestions on how we could do that, please do post a suggestion topic on it :)
there's no behaviour that encourages you to explore the shop after you buy the item.

Yes, @Bug, I know. But under the current setup, if someone has not released anything RECENTLY, you will never see their shop unless you already know about it.
There are a lot of shops that people do not ever see on the new feed because nothing has been released within the last month or so--or their new releases are infrequent and quickly disappear from the feed because other people release so many items at once. These shops are still full of great items that people are not being shown.
(I just looked at the feed and there are 24 items there. By only 9 people, including one person who has 6 items up and another person who has 5. If you only put out one item at a time, you're going to fall off the feed pretty fast.)
Also, releasers go through phases of releasing recolours of a certain item or set of items. If someone's recent releases don't appeal to you, you're not going to visit their shop.--even though their older stuff might be exactly your thing. The new feed links also take you directly to that item only, presumably to avoid confusion, but there's no behaviour that encourages you to explore the shop after you buy the item.
People are constantly joining the site. To them, the older items are new. The old feed showed you random shops with several different items, which gave new players a better idea of a releaser's range, so that if a person was doing a load of recolours of an item you'd never buy, you got a chance to see that wasn't all they ever did.

Also, just to point out- the concern isn't the individual CW items listed, it's that five specific shops are directly linked to. Just so people know what's going on- I know the links themselves are easy to skip over in the post. But that's what people are concerned about.

Please and thank you and I don't even care if it has wobbly wheels :smile_cat:

I don't think it's unreasonable to question why certain shops get direct links during a huge sale. It's not being especially aggressive to question that, it's a real concern and something that definitely can be taken advantage of. People are right to bring up concerns and bringing something up doesn't make it pointless drama.
Also, will we have the cart option in the boutique section during this sale? It's okay if not, I just don't want to keep waiting for it if not~

The CW Feed shows all new items, not just shops you follow. So if someone hasn't released in a while, and then releases an item, that will show up on the front page with the other newest items.
The people who are releasing stuff currently make the most sales, and the people who haven't put anything new out for a while aren't encouraged to release more things, because nobody sees their shops unless they specifically go looking for an item that they made.

I personally enjoy the little shoutouts to CW creators in news posts... I'm not generally one to seek CW's out, so sometimes a little hover-over-able item that I can easily see is the only way I glance at them. Whether that's through a news post, or an item I see listed in someone's trade, or even on the forums when I'm bored enough to flip through them, it just sort of reminds me of what great things the CW artists are capable of. It makes me want to seek them out again and take a look at what's in the shops. You can't possibly feature every single item from every single artist/releaser in one news post. You can't even feature ONE item from every single artist/releaser in one news post. I don't really see it being any different than staff advertising the regular Cash Shop items in a given post vs. advertising them all, which is (again) impossible. All stores do it. It's how advertising works. And seeing the individual items up top isn't going to influence me to buy them any more than before if I would've otherwise been uninterested. That's just my two cents about my it. I know others disagree, but that's alright. I just wish people didn't have to feel personally attacked by everything staff does, because in this case I only see a positive. I see it as a celebration of the wonderful artists we have creating custom content for this site, and an invitation for further expansion.

I wish the CW feed still did the thing where it would show you randomly chosen shops as well as the ones you followed.
Now it just shows specific items, and only the newest ones--so you don't get informed about shops that haven't released anything in a while but are still full of cool stuff.
The people who are releasing stuff currently make the most sales, and the people who haven't put anything new out for a while aren't encouraged to release more things, because nobody sees their shops unless they specifically go looking for an item that they made.
When I was new to CWs, that was how I found all of the shops that I really like, and found their ping groups, because just being on # customwear means some things you'd like will have all their slots filled before you even hear about them.
If we still had a random shops feed, people would be introduced to all the shops on the site. As it is, every time I see a new shop I follow it--just so that I can see it on my followed shops page and find it again. Before the new CW feed, I only followed shops that really matched my personal tastes quite closely, because if I was looking for something different, I could just refresh the shops feed till I saw shops other than the ones I follow. And since I do HA contests and cosplays, sometimes I need items that I wouldn't dress "Little Vali" in.

@Ariel @Keith I'm sorry I do come off as aggressive I just hate to see some shops singled out when I know of at least 30 or 40 more that have amazing items too. So I apologise for coming off aggressive and if this is a start of a spotlight on shops thats awesome because people need to use their shops more since WAY more people buy from shops than on the forums.

@Varsna Yup! We're hoping to start a CW spotlight, we just need to figure out how to make it not have the same problems other spotlights have had in the past ?

you guys do a GREAT job when selecting CW items to feature whenever posting about them! and honestly knowing that this is the start of featuring more releasers/creators in general makes it super sweet and not as awkward or out of place as it first looked :sparkling_heart: the context of wanting to get the ball rolling with that makes for a lot of difference in tone (? maybe not the word i'm looking for) for me, for sure

Wish I had more money for CSC so I could nab CS stuff. Sadly had to use it all (and pawn a ton of CWs) to grab CWs I wanted that were retiring. Still didn't get all I would've liked. Dangit, why does every shop have to retire all their stuff at the same time?

Oh crap, I still need to go through the Delish sets.
Some very good CW choices. A+ releasers content.

We showcase CWs whenever we post about CW features, and work hard to use a variety of items. We just wanted to shout out to a few great, filled up, broad shops, which was the criteria right now we were hunting for. I actually have an idea of how to incorporate this more routinely and vastly, so I'm hoping that works out!

It would be one thing if the users mentioned in the news post had paid off mods to feature them, but that isn't the case here, so I don't really see a problem with it myself. For a lot of people, this sale will likely be their first dip into the CW market, so a little helpful direction is a good idea, imo. I found it extremely daunting to the point of getting anxious buying my first CW because I didn't know if I was doing something wrong or buying from the right place, so I know I would have been appreciative of having shops pointed out to me back then.

Reiko
This is probably being very nitpicky, but wouldn't it be more appropriate/accurate to say "the shops of our many talented CW artists as well as CW releasers" or something along those lines instead? Not all releasers are the artists behind their CWs--myself included; I'm very grateful to all the wonderful artists whose CWs I've had the honor of releasing.

I agree with what Vars said. I understand what the staff was trying to do, but I feel like it would've been better to just link the CW shop main page with something like "Check out these amazing CW shops!" or something.

I'm on my phone so can't link too well but I'd like to add some more cw shops to check out like Reaper, Lovecraft, Fate, Curbdirt, JaclynLashae, Khaiya and many more that I've bought from or come across.

i think it's cute and well-intentioned to list some of staff's fav CW shops, but also since it's a news post and likely going to directly impact sales (in the real-money-paid-currency of the site) it unfortunately did not hit the mark for me and came across a bit tasteless and like an ad/sponsor
get out there and get that bread tho girls bc i def bought at least one thing from each of those shops when i did my bf shopping for CWs a few days ago so i really can't say anything i guess

 We chose five shops that we really like, not because we know them (I don't). Giving some shops that we think really make the whole HA ecosystem better a little promotion is something we will absolutely continue to do.

But I'm sure as hell glad staff didn't put my name up there without consulting me cause I'm sure at least a couple of the people you singled out feel very awkward now.

There are many many more amazing CWs than just the five listed so I hope everyone takes the time to really browse cws and not just go to those five.

In previous sales, CS boosters have been 50% off. Is there a reason they are being excluded this year?
