Downtime Post-Mortem

Hello everyone! Subeta.net experienced a site-wide outage that began around 2:00 AM last night. The error was identified and has now been resolved. Our database had filled up - which caused a partial database outage, impacting all parts of the site. We have now significantly increased the disk space available, and have added additional alerting for this case in the future.

Taking this into account, Morostide will be extended until November 2nd, 11:59 PM. The battle challengers will also remain available until then, giving you a little extra time to tackle them! Thank you for your patience with this unforeseen issue, and we hope you still have a fun and spooky Morostide!

I'm a bit late here, but thank you! I was one of the few (it seems) that was able to dip into the site here and there and wasn't aware of the extent of the issue. Again, I'm so heartened by how you work with and for the users, you're more than generous!

I know I was in the bathhouse yesterday as it was my 51th day streak ( and I have made a habit of going to bathhouse first thing when logging in, when getting on my laptop as well as going to it before heading to bed )... logging in today.... it said it was my first day visiting the bathhouse T_T

I'm so glad for the news post about this! When it went down, I didn't see any sort of error message or anything. Just a blank white webpage. I asked @Eitleoidhme about if she could get on, and she said that it was just a white page with a pumpkin (like, what..?). :P @calie was asleep and missed all the fun. Hehe!

May I please ask for 5 minute cool downs for all trick or treating? PLEASE? :D I've been doing the random mainly the whole event so I could have the quicker time but there's quite a few books I need for my pets from certain months and I'd love to be able to trick or treat 5 minutes and try to go for missing books/wearables :) (it would be a fabulous treat) :D hehe! thank you :D

@MagnusTheRed No, but thanks for asking so we can clarify! We increased the disk space by upgrading the database servers to have more disk space overal - significantly more. So nothing was deleted, we just upgraded our infrastructure so it can meet our data's needs :)

For ToT, If you go through the Random ToT link its only ever a 5 min wait. Which is better than going to a specific persons.

For a 2 week event, the site was down for 12 hours, and not even at the beginning of the event.

That's much better than recent years, even much better than Masquarade earlier this year. So, kudos!
