Free Shop: GO WILD YALL

The Free Shop is open from now until 11:59pm on September 14. We will be keeping an eye on the shop to do our best to keep it from overcrowding and freezing up. If the shop does get to this point and hasn't been cleared in some time, please ping me here in the comments! <3 There may be times when nothing restocks and that’s just because the pool of items it grabs from is empty. I’ll be periodically adding more to it, but I am human and need sleep sometimes!

Remember that any free item is a good item. I’m adding items from all over the place (Melody, free gifts, restockables, retired items, cash shop, etc). Some things may not be worth as much as others, but it’s still free.

No, there will be no time extension @PiinkSparkles. I actually already planned for issues (because it wouldn't be subeta without something going wrong ugh). It was originally going to be just through the weekend, but I figured a buffer day or two after would be better in the long run. It's still a lot of days of free items. :)

Hopefully it won't be too complicated to fix the problem so you don't need to keep babysitting the free shop to make sure it's working like it should!

@egbert It’s usually not bad! Like yesterday from the time we opened the shop until I went to bed around 1am PST, I only had to manually clear the shop maybe twice? I set an alarm for a few hours just in case to wake up and check the site and I’m glad I did, the shop had a ridiculous amount of items (I think 1600?) I cleared out and the site was error city. I’m setting an alarm to be up in a few hours so I can throw in items in the pool again and work while keeping an eye on it all.

@dudebox If it was during our peak hours, when there were 700+ people online, that's because the items just go super fast at that point and isn't a coding issue.

i got one (1) item, it was a nice item and i am thankful, but not that exciting over here :( i hope the issues get resolved soon, the shop has been constantly out of items since yesterday, at least for me.

@Amber thank you very much for the update and the note in the shop itself! and also for manually clearing things for the last SO MANY hours, that is ridiculous - hoping the code issue is resolved so no one is stuck doing that again. good to know you'll get some sleep! and i'll take this as my cue that i should ALSO be going to bed haha

Because I'm human and need sleep, I've cleared the pool the shop is pulling from so for the next few hours nothing will restock until I can get Keith or Bug to see why it's not automatically clearing out the extras in the shop when it hits a certain threshold like I technically shouldn't have to clear it manually but because it's not working correctly at the moment, it lags the site/freezes the shop. I thought we fixed this last year and everything looked fine during my quick glance at the code before opening the shop yesterday.

I'll do a news post later basically describing this again once a programmer has had the chance to fix it to work correctly!
