My Past

Before I became the man that I am today, I cared for nan. I felt nothing, wanted nothing, all of my possessions, my status as a man of wealth did nothing for me. I had many who wished ill of me, received letters depicting my demise as a gentleman and so my days of going out into society dwindled to the point where I remained in my estates in the country. I was good at hunting, the rifle was a part of me, an extension of me. I was an excellent shot, thought highly of myself and my ability to hit a target at a large distance, not questioning it. I was a fool, and a coward.

Months passed, the threats became frequent and my state of mind diminished. In a frenzy, when I believed to be in mortal danger I fled the grounds of my estate into the wilderness. I knew little of surviving the elements. How had I reached such a state of a lonely man to a desperate one? I lasted only three days before my life changed.

I'd heard strange sounds, deprived of sleep I kept my rifle at the ready. I believed them to be on top of me, any moment I'd feel their eyes as they circled me. There to my left, twig snapping, leaves crunching, I kneeled, fixed my sights dead ahead, and as its coat passed the tree line I fired. FIRED! My aim was true, I'd struck the one who'd perused me.

How could I have been such a fool! I could see her body sinking, to the grassy floor. As she lay there twitching I knew she was moments from death having felt my Hunter's Kiss. I tried to stop the bleeding, I heard more sounds approaching and there came from the same location Erick. The scent of blood hung in the air and as he looked into my arms, his beloved Kat began to slip away.

I can't recall much of what followed. From that moment forward I was no longer a man, a human being, I was CURSED.

My Curse

Star's father, heard of what happened. He knew that I was guilty of this terrible act upon an innocent. My disdain for others, my utter disregard of life lead to my being cursed by a demon. He had called upon his brethren and they answered. My body changed before my very eyes, my hands became paws, my hair, a mane of serpents, my body of a man shed to that of a beast, and a tail grew from behind me into that of a large serpent. I was lost, not knowing what I was, who I was, my mind broken.

In the year 1814 was my rebirth.
My curse was to learn to feel, to be accountable for my actions. I was flung from the world I knew. I no longer resided in Somerset, I no longer saw the coast of the Bristol Channel. Instead I was thrown into a land long before my birth. Thrust into a time where Pharaohs were Gods as slaves built structures with their bare hands. The Nile, there in Gizah I would reside until I no longer could. I would leave that land and travel. My curse left me immortal. I would live and learn that which I should have known long ago. I became a historian, a learner of the world around me. A student of the different cultures, learning and yet I still missed the point. The most vital of my lessons I had yet to learn. If I had remained human, in 80 years I'd have passed and never would I have met Star. But I kept moving on, until our paths at last crossed and I would learn what it truly meant, what it all meant.

Will I be damned forever?

My Present

Star, love of my life, brought out the real man in me.
They tell me that once I give myself completely, the curse will be lifted and I will become mortal once again.
Will I go back to what I was before?
I am afraid, yet I want to give myself over to the new man I've become.
