Queen Igantia

The Island

The country of Ardere sits in the center of a large mass of land. Surrounding it is a lush ecosystem of the natural elements. Just outside of that is the ocean. Anything beyond the ocean is unknown to the inhabitants of the large island. The civilization of Ardere is mainly surrounded by nature and only grazes the ocean at the north of the island. There is a long string of islands up that way, however very few have ventured out into the sea to return to land. There may have been a time when nature and man coexisted peacefully, but nowadays no one goes beyond where man has conquered. After all, there is little reason not to stay within the safety of the country.

Ardere

Within Ardere lies a huge kingdom, ruled by generations of royalty. Currently, Queen Igantia rules at the young age of 30 years, both her parents passed away when she was young. She holds a strong grip on her civilians, and they comply. Very slightly out of fear and mostly out of conditioning. After all, they had been obeying to the same bloodline for many years. There is little reason to change. The Queen lives in the capitol, Calida.

The kingdom comes with the Knights of Igantia, traditionally named after the current ruler of Ardere. They are donned in armory and a blazing red cape. Knights come from a bloodline as well. If one wishes to become a Knight with no ancestral influence, they could become one by defeating a chosen Knight during a spar. The chosen knight is usually very strong and a challenge to defeat. It is not easy, nor should it be easy, to be a Knight. Knights usually have pride in their title, as not everyone has the privilege to have such an honor. Knights live very comfortably within the country and have little worries outside of protecting the kingdom.

The only other protection the civilians have, are Monster Hunters. There are no usual types of Monster Hunters because anyone can become one. It's not even an official title, it's just what people call themselves after a bounty was set. Since about a thousand years ago, animals have ceased to exist along with humans. The industrial revolution send out large masses of pollution into the environment, and the few animals that have lived within the country had either left or died. Only lately have the animals returned, and the pollution caused by the factories have tainted their hearts and minds with fury and anger. The inner fire humans thrived upon were poison to animals. These animals grew larger in size and their eyes turned dark where they cried tears filled with soot. And they attacked the country.

Everyone was in a panic. Knights rushed to kill these terrible beasts, but since many have not been in combat with actual animals, their numbers fell. It was a disgrace to the kingdom. Such honorable people were being brought down by animals! The queen was horrified. In order to maintain the Knights of Igantia's reputations, she quickly put a bounty on any animals that are within the country's borders. Anyone that kills these beasts would be rewarded a large sum of money. So large was it that many rushed in order to become a Monster Hunter.

Monster Hunting is crude work. There are many casualties that come with it, and unfortunately there is no insurance for such a job. After people realized how dangerous it actually was, many resigned from Monster Hunting. However, there were others who were not deterred by the dangers. The amount of money provided by Monster Hunting still lured in people to kill of these beasts. Although a single monster only pays the same amount, some people even increases their odds of defeating a beast by getting into groups. The occupation is not popular, however many civilians do appreciate the job as it prevents animals from killing anyone else.

Knights can take the role of Monster Hunting, whether for pride or other reasons. However, most do not concern themselves over Monster Hunting. After all, the Queen created Monster Hunters so Knights could avoid it.

Nature

Although some of nature has been corrupted by humanity, most of the nature is still fine. Creatures that live as far away from Ardere as possible are the least affected and may be even oblivious to the current situation. There has been a history between nature and Ardere, but man had no need to venture out into nature for a very long time. Thus, it is unconventional to know much about it. Most people know about it is that nature is where the animals live. Unfortunately, due to the current attacks of beasts, most people assume that all animals are just as terrifying. Animals have been living peacefully, however, as long as they are not near the pollution. There is even rumored that nature itself has it's own King that is ruled by a single animal. No one know if this is true, nor do that know anything else about this said King.

Water

The ocean that surrounds the island is full of spirits. They say the past lives of humans and animals alike reside in the ocean where they can live in peace while control the climate. Most the the spirits forget who they once were, but very rarely do they remember something. Most of the time, they only remember trivial things, such as their favorite food. Spirits are very peaceful beings and are usually the ones who keep order between nature and humans. However, the spirits became angry at humans. The pollution leaks into the water and makes the once pure and beautiful ocean dark and poisonous. The spirits, in their anger, ransacked any boats that would sail away from the shore. Thus, humans understood that they are now prohibited to enter the water. Although people along the shore had lost businesses due to this, the kingdom didn't care. The industrialization created new technologies that were too precious to give up for something trivial like fish or transportation. The humans soon abandoned the ocean, and nothing was resolved. The spirits were still angry, but they could do little to the land since they only control the ocean.
