Yiannis is just a humble librarian with big dreams of being a published author. For years he's been slogging through his very first novel, but between all the books he reads for inspiration and the long hours at his job, plus maintaining a meager social life in his free time, the process has been slow going. He at least likes his job and his life where he's at, so things are good in the meantime. Plus, his boyfriend is tremendously supportive and encouraging, which means he'll get there someday - even if that means putting the actual writing off until he just can't stop himself from getting it done.

He's a bit shy and withdrawn, in part due to self-consciousness related to his stutter and his array of what he considers to be embarrassing interests and personality traits. Despite his issues with self-confidence, Yian is incredibly smart and a great friend once he's gotten to know someone. His proclivity towards kindness even in sketchy situations does tend to come back to bite him, however; too many people have used him for his caring and generosity, then left him high and dry when he needed help in return. He likes to claim that he's learned from his mistakes. In practice, it's likely he'll repeat them as many times as he's prompted to, as long as someone seems to be in trouble and needing assistance. He's always hoping that the next one will show him the same kindness that he tries to give. Fortunately, the ferociously protective nature of his boyfriend has helped a lot to keep him safe from unscrupulous folks, and he's building his confidence slowly but surely with the help of his small and supportive social circle.

Though their apartment complex doesn't allow pets without a deposit, and they most definitely will not be paying a deposit, Yian and Vel have two pets - a fat white cat named Gyro and a doberman named Mal. Yiannis loves to curl up with the furbabies while reading or playing games.
