Ray dropped out of college in their freshman year to become a professional gamer in the e-sports scene. When that didn't pan out for them, they became all but a recluse, spending every day holed up in their tiny apartment relying on their parents' financial support to survive. They're still hoping to break into the professional scene by building their own team, so they practice fanatically and communicate with friends primarily through online chat programs in between games. To them, this is a mission more important than school or work; to succeed means recognition, fame, notoriety, and respect, so failure is not an option. Their friends and family are a little more concerned about the whole situation.

Ray is driven, smart, and aware of their own strengths and weaknesses almost to a fault, since they can get hung up on those weaknesses to their own detriment while trying to eliminate them by honing their strengths. They are a perfectionist to the utmost degree, and therefore are devastated by failure. When something doesn't go right despite their best effort, they withdraw and shut down, plunging themself into self-improvement while disregarding health and social respectability. Passion is definitely not something they lack, nor is wit, but they never quite know when to stop pushing themself or when to drop the snark before someone gets upset. While social skills aren't their strong suit, they try hard to listen to feedback and modify behavior accordingly, unless their stubborn determination towards a cause gets in the way. They're hard to get a hold of but always good for a tech or knowledge related favor when asked by a friend or colleague - just not if the favor involves leaving the house, since that's one hurdle they still struggle with. Agoraphobia and anxiety are their greatest foes, ones they have yet to be able to overcome. They keep telling themself that'll be easy to conquer once they go pro and have a reason to leave home.

In their limited free time, they greatly enjoy tabletop roleplaying games, and they manage to whip up lengthy and detailed campaigns to DM for friends. It's the only time they see other people in person outside of special occasions, though they do struggle with hosting the events out of their apartment due to lack of space. They make it work.
