It had been raining all night long, so it was a big surprise to everyone when a big top circus tent appeared overnight just outside of town. By now, the rains had cleared off and it was a beautiful day, perfect for a day of fun. As people began to arrive at the carnival, the mouthwatering aroma of popcorn greeted them. Several smaller and miniature tents could be seen behind the big top, but all eyes were on the main attraction. Playful but theatrical music sounded as the door to the tent was lifted up. Two workers stood at the sides and beckoned loudly and enticingly for everyone to enter. The circus-goers practically raced into the big top and took their seats in the ring around the middle, and someone could be heard yelling, "Popcorn! Get your fresh popcorn here!" Once the popcorn had been divvied out, the ringmaster took his place in the center and introduced what the crowd would be viewing.

The acts were the usual things you would see at the circus – acrobatics, gymnastics, juggling, and the like. Everything changed when a female clown dressed in black with white polka-dots sauntered into the ring. On her arrival, the cheery music slowed to a creepy pace, and the lights around the audience dimmed as the spotlight illuminated her. Everyone held their breath, wondering what she would do. She stood in the center with her eyes downcast, silent for several moments. The clown slowly raised her head and in a sinister voice said, "all eyes on me."

First there was one scream, then another. Quickly, there was a chorus of screams erupting all over the audience, and those who weren't screaming yet were panicking, but somehow nobody was able to leave their seats. The eyeballs of the circus-goers could be seen forcefully pulling out and detaching from their sockets, and soaring towards the clown as if a magnetic force was pulling them to her. As the eyeballs reached her, they stuck to her body, and those who could still see had the horrifying realization that the polka-dots weren't actually polka-dots. As everyone lost their eyeballs, the aroma of popcorn was getting more powerful, to the point where it was sickening.

Empty and bleeding sockets all around her, the clown's sharp-toothed grin widened, then the rest of her body started to expand and morph. The so-called circus staff and ringmaster were reduced to puddles of shadow on the floor and were seemingly sucked up by her body as her true form took shape. She was a creature of nightmares: antlers, a beak, hooves, and huge tail feathers that moved around independently. Most importantly, she was covered in eyes. Gray smoke billowed around her as she began to hover, and she quickly flew across the tent to the entrance and burst out of it. The silent and eyeless audience robotically stood up and in two single-file lines, they exited the tent behind her. In a crackly, inhuman voice the creature screamed without opening her mouth, "enjoy my circus!"

The circus-goers spent the rest of the day playing with the games in the small tents. It seemed like more and more of these small tents were appearing, with never-ending activities inside, as the husks of the humans methodically visited each one. The odor of popcorn lingered throughout the entire circus grounds. From a high perch, the nightmarish creature watched her human captives, as the fresh eyeballs that covered her body began to sink into her skin and become a part of her. To this sick creature, the eyeballs of humans were nothing more than a fashion item that she could adorn herself with.

The once-were humans continued their activities in the small tents past dusk and into the night, as the hypnotic smell of popcorn filled their noses. No one thought about leaving, all they wanted to do was keep having fun at the circus. No one wanted to leave the familiar and comforting smell of the popcorn, but eventually the creature had no more use for the humans. In a domino effect, the small tents began collapsing and disappearing, along with everything and everyone inside. When the last small tent collapsed and vanished, in a grand finale, the big top slowly began to collapse like a falling giant as the slowed and creepy music became even more distorted. The nightmarish creature sauntered back inside the big top before it finished collapsing, and then it vanished. There was no trace of the missing humans, nor of a circus ever having been there. In the unknown space between worlds and realities, the nightmare creature traveled to the next location of her circus.
