Server Issues
I know, I know, this always happens.



In technical terms, we lost one of our servers last night and spun up new ones today. The problem was that PHP (our scripting language) was calling for that server to save things in cache... and it didn't exist anymore.



We are working on it :)

Bake Stop Reopened!
Hi again, everyone.



I suppose you\'ve noticed that I look a little different. I hope no one thinks less of me. I really tried to stick with my new life, but I missed my friends and family so much, and it\'s scary starting a new life when you\'re almost completely alone.



I imagine some of you are wondering about a... certain someone. Skitters supports me in whatever I do, but I\'m not going to lie and say that he wasn\'t upset. I think he accepts my choice, though, even if he doesn\'t really understand it. He even joked that he might cure and pay a visit to me above ground some time, so hopefully that means things are blowing over!



Now that I am back, I will be reopening the Bake Stop, and leaving Elsie in charge of Half-Baked below ground. Hopefully everyone will be able to have access to all of their favorite treats, now.

Trades/etc Problems!
Hey everyone! There a couple of hours there were problems with a couple areas of the site not working correctly.



A few areas that were causing problems:

- Trades

- Some survival plot areas (bug game, ecks/skitters not taking splittifish, the limb doctor)

- A couple of masquerade locations (turning in a schematic and the workshop)



All of these have been fixed, and I'll take a second to explain the reason that there was a problem. All of these errors were due to a specific function we use to "safely" log user data around the site so that the UAs can pull it up if you're missing an item, or it vanished into the black hole that is our server sometimes.



Earlier today we pushed a change that alters the database engine some of our logs use to one called MongoDB which is much faster for the sort of text-heavy information that is stored in logs. We intend to move the rest of our logs over in the next week. This move will free up a massive chunk of space in our database, and also free up a lot of our databasing power that can be used for a lot of other things!



Thanks for your patience today while we started the process, it's been in the works for a few weeks and we're happy to finally have it starting to roll out!

A Few Notes
I just wanted to clear up some questions I knew people would have, but I wanted to wait until this morning (well, okay, I slept until afternoon, so sue me) to do it so people would have time to finish the plot on their own first.



Survival stuff (including everything plot-related) will still be available for a couple more days. Expect it to be taken down late Wednesday or early Thursday and plan accordingly.



You can cure and get reinfected to try for a different disease.



If you've cured and have replacement body parts from Rachelle, a solution is forthcoming to be able to remove them without needing to go to the Underground.



If you have not finished the plot but have gone to the prizes page, you will still be able to get the rest of the prizes if you go back after finishing.

Half Baked Update
Hi everyone, how are you doing? Oh, I\'m good! It\'s been a big adjustment, though. I miss all my friends a lot, and I especially miss my mom and dad. I miss a lot of the little things, too. Like TV! Does anyone know what happened on Withstander? I was really rooting for that spunky girl whose top fell off during the elimination challenge!



Anyway, I just wanted to let people know that business is doing really well. So well, in fact, that I had to hire on an apprentice. Her name is Elsie, and she is a really sweet girl and I can\'t wait to share some of my favorite recipes with her! So if you come down to Half Baked and see someone else behind the counter, give Elsie a big hello.

Custom Clothing Queue
Good afternoon, Subeta!



With the recent site instability this week, the custom clothing queue has grown excessively large and due to continued instability, items are waiting a bit longer for approval/denial than normal. We'd just like you to know that we are not ignoring your items and are getting to them as quickly as we can.

Once again, thank you everyone! We\'re still working on the servers, this is a really complex problem that the majority of advise from professionals is literally to wait it out. We\'ve moved our traffic behind a better infrastructure and we are doing what we can to protect ourselves further from this type of problem. As you can see, the site is still going down fairly frequently, but we are working on it.



As an apology, and a symbol of gratitude for everyone staying so involved (even with this happening, over 1,000 people online!) we have a 1 Week Gold Account Medal as the Free Gift!

Cron Issues
We are aware that cron scripts aren\'t working right now and we\'re looking into it/working on it.



This affects automated functions of the site such as shop stocking, daily resets and autotraining (this is obviously not an inclusive list).



There is no need to post in problems & bugs about these issues, nor to add to existing topics that you are also affected by them, as everyone is.

Hi, again, everyone! Oh, it\'s Fantine, by the way. I know it might be hard to tell with all the... Yeah.



Anyway, I have some big news! I\'ve decided to close down The Bake Stop and move my business to the Underground. I was hoping that I could keep everyone happy but... hah, I guess not even cakes can do that, sometimes.



So, if you\'re a zombie (I can use that word, now!), come on down to the Underground and visit me at my new shop, Half Baked! I have all sorts of creative treats ready!

Network Update

Right now we're seeing an usual amount of traffic going into our Load Balancer, which we suspect might be from a Denial of Service attack.



Right now we are working with our server center to get this worked out. We're going to upgrade our Load Balancer (which will require downtime, I'll make an announcement when we know what time that will be!) and that should take care of the problem.



Until then we have to deal with the bumpiness :(

Network Issues
Black PC




We are currently having network issues at our data center which is causing the communication between our servers (primarily our web server and our database servers) to be disconnected.



We are working with the datacenter to have this fixed as soon as possible!
