Something is different here... Oh! Right, welcome to the new Subeta! We have worked very hard over the past few months to create a new layout that is easier for everyone to browse.
Here are some of the biggest changes that we've made with the new layout:
- The layout is now fluid in width, which means that it will resize itself depending on the size of your browser window. This lets us make things around the site fit the entire screen, and not feel so cramped.
- Widgets! These are the boxes on the left side of your screen. You can change the ones that are shown here. There are some really cool ones like showing your friend feed, the amount of quests you've done for the day, and more! They can also be dragged and moved around the sidebar, or hidden.
- Dashboard / Events: The dashboard is where the widgets live, and the events pane is where your events will live! You can change your preferences here, to how you would like the dashboard to act. We suggest setting it to smart so that you are notified when you have new events!
- Dropdowns, which means that we don't have to use up the entire sidebar for the navigation. We've reorginized the links to make a little more sense, and allow you to move around the site easier.
You may have noticed that your CustomCSS and your Pet Profiles have been cleared. They generally aren't compatible with the new layout, but we did save your coding and you can find it here! Feel free to copy it and paste it back into your CustomCSS/Pet Profiles, just be warned that everything might not work the same!
You can leave your feedback for the new layout here. We will be making changes to the new layout as we see problems (or things that should be changed).

I love it! It will take a bit of getting used to, and I'm sure people who code their own profiles may be upset, but I think it's great!

Oh, beyond my complaints, the site really is beautiful. I just don't know if I would sacrifice speed for beauty. It's even slowing my laptop down, and I just bought it recently. I'm sure you guys will find a good alternative or way to make everyone happy in this. <3

Soooo. A lot of mixed reviews. Personally, it will take a little getting used to.
Is there any way to get a "classic" view of the site? Like Window's XP has for your browser? Is that in the works? Or is that idea just out the window?

Wow. It looks great. =DDD It'll take a while to get used to, and I'll have to recode my pet lookups, but in all, I think the change is for the better. I love it!

Only major downfall is that I had specific coding for my pet pages and it's majorly screwy in the new layout. I highly preferred the old layout for things like the pet profiles simply because it was much easier to make simple and clean cut in coding. This change doesn't look much right, in my opinion, for such on a profile to be quite honest. I'm rarely one to speak against a decision, but this is one I very well feel I must because it's messed up something I spent a lot of my time on.
Also, my home computer will crash as soon as it tries to load the site, due to how 'heavy' this layout seems. Just another kink when it comes to older computers.

The new layout, I must say I hate it. Reminds me of neopets. The screen is too big, the drop down is annoying. I hate how you did the forums. I liked it better were it actually showed them instead of searching. The site is so slow and not working right. To me, you have alot of fixing to do, the forums the most.
I've just read the news through again and now am wondering if the dashboard will notify me if I have an event.
What an odd definition of "easier for everyone to browse" the powers that be have, if by "easier" you mean hiding everything in drop down menus and slowing the site up that much more.

i'm missing one fixed link to refresh the page without having to use the drop down menu - for now it takes ages to refresh and see the new alerts.

PS - I LOVE the new layouts. They're so pretty I can't decide which one to use! (Using riverside right now, but love the graveyard, beach, etc!)

One thing I'm not happy with is having the dashboard on one tab and events on the other. I've got my dashboard set up for navigation so it's as much like the old layout as possible. This means I'll miss news or events without continually switching between the two tabs.

Ugh, it cut off a lot in that post. Basically I was comparing it to an experience I had on Neo (then I explained I was only comparing the drop-down menus and not the two sites themselves).
And it actually just happened on subeta when one of the mysterious capsules got extremely close to the drop down menu. :I urk.

My eyes are all over the page with this. I hopes to get them coordinated with the new layout.
I think the new layout is gorgeous. I know you will have complaints, b/c let's face it, some folks just do NOT like change. But they will adjust. Thanks for keeping things fresh around here, lol!
It's just different. Everyone gets used to the site being one way, so it will take time for most people to get adjusted and used to this new layout.

This is definitely going to take some getting used to (goodness, it's different!), but the new look is gorgeous! Fantastic work, everyone!

I don't see the problem with the drop down menus, you can just add the Navigation widget to the sidebar and it works exactly like the old navigation.
Oh my gosh...this is purely amazing! I love this layout so much more. Switching to a wide-screen computer did make everything look crammed into one area. Everything is well organized now, and I really like the look of this layout! Good job on the hard work!
