Once long ago, there was a great knight who answered to the name of IvanV. Sir IvanV was brave and strong, and one of the King's most valued warriors. One day, Sir Ivan slew a great beast which was terrorizing the land. The people cheered, but the beast's master, the sorcerer Kabrim, did not.

As Sir Ivan headed home from his mission, the weather turned rainy and foggy. Through the thick fog, he spotted a house and decided to ask to stay until the fog lifted. He knocked on the door, and the master of the house, Kabrim, answered. He allowed Sir Ivan into his home and let him dry off and warm himself by the fire. He then prepared a meal for him and invited him to eat.

Sir Ivan ate, and had a pleasant conversation with Kabrim...but as he ate, he noticed his hunger growing instead of subsiding. He noticed that he had abandoned his fork and knife and was tearing at his meat like an animal...and his host smiling all the while as these changes took place. This is when Kabrim revealed himself and explained that the fowl weather was merely a ploy to convince Sir Ivan to seek shelter. Further more, his food had been laced with a powerful and fowl potion. Sir Ivan was now cursed.

Whenever he should feel rage, or panic, or taste blood, he would transform into an uncontrollable beast. He would seek to destroy all in his path, friend or foe. He would forever feel the instincts and hunger of the beast and be plagued with nightmares. Worst of all, this curse would be passed down to the sons of his line eternally...and there would always be at least one son.

Despite this curse Sir Ivan returned home, hoping to continue his life...but his first transformation ended in him killing the Crown Prince. Sir IvanV was banished from the kingdom forever.
