Say WHAT?

I’ve spent a lot of time tr-r-rying to make heads or-r tails of this book, but it’s no use, we’r-r-re going to have to get it tr-r-ranslated. I talked to the Element Mage but he says he specializes in Ancient Saher-r-ric and doesn’t recognize this dialect at all!
It wasn’t a total waste, though! He pointed me to towar-r-rd Alexander-r-r at the Centr-ropolis Public Libr-rar-ry. He has access to all kinds of ancient texts and is quite a collector-r-r fr-rom what I under-r-r-rstand.
Hmm, I wonder-r-r if he had a copy of this book all along? Wouldn’t that be embar-r-r-rassing?

They release a new step every 2-3 days, the plot is not done yet, just have to be patient and wait for the next step to be announced.

I'm at the codex part (I have all the codex's and have done everything so far) and now I'm waiting on Connor to give more information. He said he would call when he's translated more of the literature or whatever. That was almost two days ago. Is there any news on when this will continue or is it done?

I had to hunt down and turn off my auto-spelling corrector! Ha, ha, silly thing insisted on changing that third word on me, couldn't figure what was going wrong at first.

I actually found the translating part to be fairly difficult--but not for anything being complex.
Just that I learned Japanese back in my highschool language courses, so my brain was REALLY struggling not to associate these ciphers with the kanji and the hiragana that I'd learned (this very obviously pulls its inspiration from them which was super cool but very awkward for me lol).
Ended up that it took me like three times longer to solve it than it should've! Thanks brain.

another plot step, another 10 minutes extra time spent on subeta.... how enthralling
the haikus were nice but that's the first thing that wasn't literally handed to us. It'd be nice to have something that actually needs to be solved. There's no reason the translation couldn't have been missing 2/3 of the letters and we had to actually solve it ourselves... anything for a challenge, ANYTHING!

ahhhh alexander looks so cute!
quick question though; i see people here
participating in the plot, that have
not been affected by the greyscale avatars.
is there a way to revert back to colour?
i'm desperate to get my colours back X_X

Omg, the haiku hints are great! Took me a bit with the first one, but I got the others rather quickly. :D My favorite has to be: Secretive old man, Why do you collect underthings?, A hidden bedfriend?

Newbie here and haven't a clue what you're talking about. Bet next year it will be lots easier for me. Looking forward to it. Hope you all have fun with Conner and his quests.

I don't know if it changed since it started, but just FYI, my translation worked last night WITH correcting the letters to use proper spelling AND with using punctuation. So that might not be what's causing trouble for some people.

I enjoyed this part of the plot. Had one wrong letter but caught it...the translating was easy haha
Love Alexander's revamp

I love the codex thing! Its funny how fast I got to know each lettter allowing me to just read it with out looking at the note.
But abjdksajf -foams at mouth- of course the first person I have to go see is Saggi. Right after I spent all but 200k...he better be patient or Im not going to finish this step on time lol.

Couldn't be happier with the revamp that Alexander received. Everything about it looks fantastic.
As far as the plot goes, yay.

I don't seem to be able to proceed with the plot. I've done pirate panic, but when I go to Alexander's page it only shows me the quest. Am I doing something wrong?

Yikes, about four words into the translation I'd already figured enough out to translate it without checking - meaning I kept getting it wrong because I was spelling everything different. Figured it out eventually, I really enjoyed this task!
Alexander is looking very cute also.

Seriously? 50k to talk to jules or I have to wait like 8 hours..which is like 12am for me
Thanks o_O

I don't understand why so many people want to take the easy way out and get the answer spoon fed to them. It annoys me that they will get the same prizes as those of us who took the time time to work it out for themselves. Plus it's a discouraging sign for the human race as a whole. sighs
So far the plot has been great and Alexander is looking so spiffy right now.

Who is the moody firstborn son? I think I may have somehow messed up the flow by checking everywhere for a person who had a talk to button.
:DD This is so fun. Just two things:
-typo when Victoria says a generous person would be 'let it' instead of 'let in'
-haikus 1 and 3 each have 8 syllables in the middle instead of 7

Those still having trouble with the translation can PM me if you want, and maybe I can help without giving things away completely. (There is a thread in the event forum that already does that, though, if that's what you want!)

hides an inappropriate gigglefit at one of the haikus
Okay...this was the funnest step yet (seriously..I love these "translate this old document" things you guys are doing. <3 ), and I found the haikus really easy to figure out.
But please...please tell me someone had the foresight to copy these haikus...they're all good but one of them is just...perfect. xD

for those having trouble getting it to accept their translations, use only the spaces that are given and write it all as one continuous sentence with no punctuation!
i liked this step because of the obvious old plot references but sheesh do i feel bad for newer members!

I'm so pedantic it's bothering me that an ancient language would actually use 'gift' as a verb
I'm completely lost on the haikus. I'm not really that familiar with the NPCs beyond "they are this person" (especially since I joined this year), so I've no idea who even the first one is.

Haha, I was just wondering. Not being impatient. I haven't been doing these event things/plot events. It's been a reallllly long time. Thanks though! I appreciate it.
