Recently, a team of linguists studying the winged creature we've known as the Aerie discovered that we'd misunderstood these majestic beasts all along. After reviewing their language, it's become clear that they refer to one another as Irions. What we mistakenly believed to be The Aerie turned out to be the name for their home, not their species. In light of this discovery, all references to Aeries on record have been corrected.

that is very cute i want one

Luxe: Yeah, instead you just rip off every other fantasy based creature similar to it. Gryphon, Hippogriff, etc.
Honestly, I don't see why so few changes were made. There were several complaints about the revamp and only two were remotely fixed and not for the better IMO. I don't think it's over all bad however, it just wasn't ready to be released.

First of all, the art is great. I'm really happy this version of the revamp went through - it's entirely regal looking, as I at least believe Griffons should be.
I'm a little iffy with the coloring changes - the whole Common Aerie being greenish while the new Irion is brownish, but it's something I can live with.
Secondly, I find it funny that people want a more feminine Irion, considering that it is based off of a creature that is made up of two animals (the lion and the eagle) where the female is both stronger and more well-built than the male. I mean, male lions are big, but it's female lions are bulky with muscle. Male eagles are generally both smaller and less bulky than female eagles. Generally, female eagles are quite a bit larger than males (around 20-25%).
So, I guess I'll have to ask this question: How do you feminize a female that is more 'male' than the male?

NK: My request is far from personal. In fact, a number of others agreed that the revamp needed to be feminized - and other including me supported the "other" Aerie revamp, which was never opened to polling much to many people's dismay.
I am still disappointed by the abrupt choice to slightly tweak and release - I believe that perhaps, if the artist had been more patient, perhaps more people with Aeries/Irions (most of the people commenting probably don't even have an Aerie/Irion) who wanted more changes done to feminize it could've been satisfied.
But I guess the artists have enough to deal with rather than wait...I still think the name change was unnecessary, the revamp released too early with too few changes, etc.

I will forever refer to these as aeries. And apparently the revamp ended up going through? Hm I think the aerie and irion should have been made into 2 different species, because I don't look at this and see a typical "Aerie" ...or whatever. Thankfully my aerie is chibi or I would be really upset about the changes. I dun like change.

First ones were so much more cuter. And I think that old possible revamp was better than this one.
Opps, I clicked too soon, and left a blank message. What I want to say is that SheWolf summaries the look the best. Please read her post below. (Too static and it looks like a figure from a family crest)
I'm just glad I don't own an Aerie. This new look is somewhat too static for my taste. The pet looks like it escaped from a family crest.

I like the name change which surprises me. I also like the artwork which is very nice. My only really big problem with the revamp is that the look doesn't match my pet who is a sun aerie. This new look is, as others have said, too masculine looking for my tastes. Oh well, maybe now I'll have fun choosing a new color for Nightengale.

I'm happy with the revamp, but the colors kind of bother me. My dusk Aerie used to be a darker shade of blue and its beak/front legs weren't so light .
Oh well, there is nothing I can do to change that, so I guess I'll just have to get used to it.

Beautiful <3
Just beautiful.
I can't wait to see the Angelic, Hydrus, Bloodred and Nightmare versions of these babies. x3

Ok, so you revamped the Aeria and gave it a new name, BUT why did you take our colors from us? Mine was a cream color and now I have a BROWN color! Ugh! I totally dislike brown.
I like it.
And everyone who is complaining just gets to deal with it...and spend there "hard-earned" imaginary subeta money to change they're pet into something else. Or just learn how to code and post the old picture over the new one..

I don't like it.
Hydrus Aeries were one of my favorite pets and one of the best drawn pets in my opinion. I guess I won't be getting that pet some day after all.
It just looks so masculine, bulky and I don't like the front legs. I thought the feline type legs on the old one looked so much better. These just look extremely awkward.
But whatever, I bet the majority likes this one and nothing else will be done about it so I'm not really sure why I'm commenting in the first place.

Oops, sorry for the blank post, that was an accident. With apologies aside, I see no reason to complain about something that's already done.
The name is nice and I think the art itself is fine. If I don't the pet you can always change it. What are the chances that you don't like a single pet on this site.

Guys quit whining about the items with aerie in the name, i'm sure it takes some time to find it all and change it

Gosh, this looks so fekkin fabulous oh yes.
Seriously considering one now. The artist did amazing job with these, now they have the full glory of the gryphon, I think <3
And Irion sounds just wonderful, wonderful new name.

Strix, your request to make it more 'feminine' looking is a personal preference. Not some sort of blemish like you're making it out to be. If we conformed to fit the personal requests of every user the Irion would then look disfigured. A lot of opinions were considered when making the newer Irion. Just because yours in particular wasn't considered doesn't mean you should throw a fit.
WITH THAT ASIDE.
I'm so impressed with this revamp. You have no idea. It looks multitudes better and I can't wait to see the revamps to go with it C:

I see no clear reason. The name change is really uneccessary, and th revamp looks essentially more or less the same as the old one. The artists did nothing to make it more feminine-looking, and as a result looks like it's on steroids. I'm sorry, but I don't like this refusal to comply enough with a more neutral, non-masculine look. Nice, Keith...real nice...now my beautiful female Hydrus Aerie (sorry, Iridion) will look like a disfigured freemartin for ever.
Love the new name

I don't know what's wrong with it. Personally, I love it so much that I just filled another of my pet slots (got a GA two days ago, only two more slots left after those two days XD)
...naww, it's SO cuddly. huggles
And now the Paralix, the Paralix! Hurry, we've waited so long for both :3

All negative comments aside(rude much?), i like the revamp and i think it is amazing artwork <3 good job guys
The feet look a little awkward, all of them, but I otherwise LOVE the Irion! Great name, too!
NoirRaven, the only species to have changed names with a revamp recently are species that had horribly generic names. Otter and Turdle made people think more of otters and turtles and therefore compare the two species more than was necessary. I would personally love to see names like Dragon, Pherret, and Bovyne change as well, but that's just me.
Aerie was changed in an attempt to keep it from being incorrectly compared to other similar species. At its most basic level it is a griffin-based pet and not based on any other pets from any other sites.

How can those wings support that mass? It must have more than just hollow bones! :B In general I like it... I had a gold Aerie for a long time (my first pet after some zaps) that I eventually Hydrus'd... I absolutely adore the current Hydrus, and I hope its revamp stays in line with its gestalt. Also, I'm just going to pronounce that "Iron"
You artists make it so hard to be poor. We spend ll our sP on one of your fantarstical pets, and then you realease another one that we want, but we have no monies. c
Jkjk, but srsly. So much amasing, so little time.

i love the new name, and the revamp is awesomeee

Missing: They've already confirmed that the DM Aerie is going to be revamped, along with all its others special colors because "they don't have bird feet." My suggestion? Save all the images NOW before they revamp it for the worse.
Yeah, I'm not fond of this revamp :| And I'm getting tired of all the new names, too. For those saying it sounded like Eyrie - an 'eyrie' (or aerie) is the nest of a bird of prey So yeah, same meaning, but.. I forgot where I was going with this XD.

I adore the image revamp. Such handsome, handsome creatures. It almost makes me wish I had a spare pet slot so I could adopt one... but of course I won't be abandoning any of my babies to do so, no I will not. ~huggles her pets~

Not too fond of the name; I don't really see how it's related to the pet in any way, but I can live with it.
As for the art, I think the Aerie (Doubt I'll ever actually call them Irions) looks magnificent, all except for the wings, which I find rather small, and the back legs, which look awkward.
I hope the Dark Matter Aerie doesn't get a completely new pose. It was one of few that I loved through and through. =/

I like the name. I think it's pronounced eer-ee-on, but it could be ire-ee-on or even eer-aye-on or ire-aye-on... I like eer-ee-on the best, though. So, if Irions live in aeries, what is a group of Irions called? Flock? Pack? Would aerie still be capitalized as the name of their home? Sorry about all the questions, but this pet suddenly just became more interesting to me. xD
And now I've just realized how amazing it would be if one of the specially colored Irions had a pose mirroring the Bloodred Dragarth. Coat of arms gryphon FTW!

-.-; Odd name.. But I guess I can work with it.
Another revamp I don't particularly enjoy... but the art
itself is marvelous.. >.>; Shading is spot on. Yay.
I guess I'm just going to hold out on re-painting
any of my pets... since everything seems to be going
through a horrid re-vamp these days.. cries
