i don't really like it much. the old one was better in my opinion.
Must admit: don't like this at all, especially the face. I also like the pose of the old one better, even though it has simpler art.
I really dislike how Chibi-ish this one looks and all. Maybe with a more adult-like look, perhaps? I think it's all in the head structure. The head is too big for the body, and thus, it looks chibified. The Darkmatter Hikei is a good example on how something can be a burro-zebra mix, but still look mature.<br />The face is way off, too, and far too fat across the cheeks. I rather dislike the mane, too, how it looks like dreadlocks instead of the moehawk thing the Hikei has going on.<br /> And the Front hooves... Witht he shading like that, they look... not very hoof-like indeed. It almost looks like the hoof is very flat, or like the top of it had been removed and indented.<br />On a more personal choice, I'd keep the pose, but perhaps darken the stripes and make them a bit larger as well.
I like the direction the Hikei is heading.. It seems like with every revamp poll, it becomes more and more the way it should be. The Hikei seems like a pretty difficult creature to revamp, so I give all the artists who work on it credit for working with us. <br /><br /> I like alot on the new one, but some things (which have probably been mentioned already) still bother me. I think the whole "chubbyness" of the belly could be greatly reshaped with a simple adjustment to the back and spine. adding a low rising curve (Beginning right behind the shoulderblades and sweeping upwards at the hip) might help give the illusion that it's slimmer, rather than reshaping it's whole body. That, and it'll cure the slight hunchbacked appearance.. <br /> It's mohawk bothers me a little (I think it did before in the last revamp poll, too) Just because I think i like the straight, uniform line of mane, rather than a floppy mullet. x3 That's all just my own preference though.<br /> I do love the frame of the Hikei this time around. While others may disagree with me, I think it really fits this time. It's legs arent too bulky or slim, and it's head and neck seem very well proportioned. I think it needs longer stripes, or at least a few longer ones, especially across the belly, and I wish the tails looked more like the old one. Sort of like the orbs were connected just to the very tip by some magic force. The rounded tips aren't my cup of tea. Other than that, I love the pose and the expression - awesome work. =] Voted New.

I think the revamp is lovely...the only thing is the back left leg looks slightly off...the stance looks a little too wide. It's lovely but that leg bothers me slightly. It doesn't look like it would stand up properly. It's almost like a new foal just starting to stand up.
Maybe that's just me though. I'm no artist, I think this art is incredible but that leg bugs me...

I'm getting de ja vu here a la the Aerie/Irion. We get a proposed revamp that is more characteristic of the original pet, there are a few complaints about certain parts, but instead of getting another poll with changes to that first design, there's an entirely different design proposed. This second design is less characteristic of the pet, but will probably go through anyway. I think that the last version of the hikei fit the hikei better, it just needed a few adjustments.. I do love the blue back toes, though!! <3

I really like the head and hind legs, but if it were not for the front legs, I would've voted the new one... =(
If you just cover the front legs with your hand, you see the head and hind legs fall right into place, and looks perfect! =D
I could point out the little "mistakes" of the front legs, but are to small and more then a couple, so I would just advise to retry them IF the artist feels there is something they could improve on them =3

While I always vote for the new art, however I do seem to prefer the previous revamp. The face in this version seems to be off, though I could not say where. Also i feel the stripes could be made a little larger, or generally more zebra like. At the end of the day, I wouldnt mind it going through (as after all the hikei does need a revamp), however theres just a few things that could be picked up on (As i can tell from the amount of rather large paragraphal resoponses XD)

when I went to vote, I have to say being an owner of two colored Hikei dark matter and spectrum, I failed to notice how bland the basic Hikei looks. In comparison, I really like the face and the way the ears are perked up.
Again, the only thing that it would need is better styled hair. If yo even notice the hair of the Hikei for the Spectrum, it's basic but with small differences, a bit of a wave and such.

The body looks awesome, but there's just SOMETHING about its head that, I dunno...irks me a little.
I'm actually surprised that the voting is currently so close... This version is WAY better, in my opinion. I love that fluffy-looking mane.
It is a better attempt this time around, may I suggest looking at percherons (for the body structure) and zebras (for the face and mane) to try and perfect the look?

Whichever one wins, I'm glad that the artists have kept the idea of hooves for the front feet and paws for the back feet. It's pretty original.
I just realized, this is like the 3rd time this is up for polling O_o Must be really stressful on the artists who have to revamp old school pets, ie the feli. I got major respect for whoever did this and is handling the critiques from users.

I voted old. I like the back legs, the smile and the eyes on the new one but the rest just seems very wrong.
The front hooves are nice but following them up the legs seem too short and the knees too knobby/pronounced/fat (take your pick)
The tails seem too fat and close together losing their elegance.
The mane appears more like yarn or feathers, and the head as a whole has a donkey piñata feel to me.

I can't really say I don't like this one, but it is too "story book" cute for me. Though, I tend to lean more towards predatory lookin' creatures anyway. Ahah. But it just seems too innocent. I do like the eyes and the back paws actually.. and it IS better proportioned... so I mean, its not like its horrible looking. Haha. Just too cute for me. Not really sure if I care for it.

I voted old, but on the new ones there are some things i liked. I like the way the back feet are colored on the toes and I like the shaggy fur over the front hooves. I would like the stripes to be bigger and bolder than they are now, not overboard...just more. And I liked the pose of the old hikei a lot better.

Darken the stripes, and lighten the body [so that it's pure white with grey shading] and it'll look perfect ^^

I can live with this revamp. While the anatomy isn't perfect it doesn't make me cringe like the ones before it. The thing at least looks like it could live and not need to be put down from the constant pain it's body would cause just from moving around. It head, neck, torso and legs at least are proportionate so they all belong to the same body. It now looks like an adult so I hope that means my chibi one won't be touched. It's a huge improvement over the past revamps but it's just missing that wow factor that makes me want to go out and get more of them.
Very nice. This one's a much better-proportioned creature, and its pose is much more natural looking and dynamic. Definitely my favorite of the, eh...three different revamps the Hikei has been through? They've all been better than the static, unshapely original, though.

I personally like its head and neck. I think the reason I do is that, compared to the old one, this one has a normal sized headin comparison to its body. And it actually has a normal neck. Plus, the old ones snout looks beak-like. This one actually looks like a horse/donkey. D;
This is the first revamp poll I'm voting for the old image. The art needs updating badly, but this latest image just looks... wrong. The body and back legs seem flat to me; there's no definition, no muscles or skeletal structure showing. I know it's supposed to be a chubby pet, but there's no shape to it. And the paws don't look like paws, just toes stuck on the side of the legs.
I also really prefer the more head-on pose of the old, rather than a complete side-on profile.
