His love of fruit started at a very young age. He couldn't get enough of the peach nectar pops, plum puffs and apricot blossoms that were a summer tradition at cook-outs in Veta Lake. His own mother made a glorious twelve-fruit salad that had won several local cooking competitions for best salad or side dish. He would pick out the oranges but devour the rest with a voracious appetite that made his aunts and uncles joke that he'd inherited some archan blood somewhere along the line. (He never could tolerate the bitter tang of citrus, though whether this was from some early childhood trauma or a simple dislike for tartness, even he couldn't say.)
He completed his degree in Agricultural Studies at Subeta University a year early, so excited was he to get out and start making a difference as a botanist specializing in food crops. He spent six months (literally) in the field learning how to spot common botanical diseases before they could spread and helping city officials to create hive neighborhoods to encourage bumbii not employed by their queen to seek work and build homes in areas where their services were sorely needed.
Now Dripz is working for The Green Project, a multi-national non-profit company founded by Esther that plants and maintains community gardens for those neighborhoods of Subeta that get too many of their daily meals out of a box or can. Dripz is extremely proud to be a part of this organization. They even have two successful greenhouse gardens in Arctic Frost, of all places.
Their next big project (very hush-hush) is a sort of anti-gravity garden that will allow the citizens of Atebus to enjoy genuine Subetan produce without the extremely marked-up prices that come of having to import very perishable food from one planet to another.
His house is situated near Veta Lake, though even his breakthrough work doesn't quite give him the income needed to claim a property bordering the lake in Veta's wealthiest neighborhood. His house is built to be as energy efficient as possible with strategically placed glass panels that lock in heat during winter and encourage naturally cool air to disperse in summer. His dear friend Sazzura can always be spotted among the other occupants of his indoor butterfly garden. Her wings trail rainbow auras as she flutters over his head, watching curiously as he prepares a fruit-based meal or scribbles notes for some new pollination combination he hopes to try to create a new sub-species of plant.
His favorite season by far is summer because every year he enters one of his homegrown plants in the Veta Lake Fair. He's had the largest pumpkin in Subeta three years running and has won once and tied twice for the biggest cucumber.
He maintains a booth where he sells his much-sought custom line of jelly and jams. These are popular not only with the fair crowd but as a little something special to jazz up Fireside dishes or Luminaire baked goods. His personal flavor favorite is the blackberry peach but he has over 50 unique combinations. These are mostly fruit-based though a few make use of natural ingredients such as vanilla bean and honey.
He's also somewhat of an amateur landscape artist, experimenting with light and shade plants and how different configurations of standard and dwarf trees can set the mood for a property. Do you want restive, exciting or cool and contemporary? Whatever effect you're looking for, Dripz can bring your dreams to reality with one of his custom layouts that include trees, flowers, vines, shrubs and of course edibles such as berry bushes or a grapevine wall.
If it springs from the dirt, rest assured that Dripz can grow it, maintain it and make it thrive.
