Major PHP Vulnerability
You may see around the internet that PHP has a critical vulnerability in it, and think "Hey - doesn't Subeta run on PHP?" Yes! It does! As does a massive amount of the internet - any Wordpress or Tumblr and large portions of Facebook use PHP.
This looks like an extremely critical one, and many sites are going down for emergency maintinence.
I've patched our servers with the best information available now, and will patch with the official PHP update when it comes out tomorrow.
If more information comes out about the severity, it's possible I'll have to take the site down entirely until a patch is released, but there will be a downtime message explaining that if it's the case.
Your pets and accounts are safe, we have backups, and would only go offline to ensure someone couldn't run code against the site.

I KNEW I wasn't going crazy when Wikipedia started sending back error messages... This is affecting more of the internet than I thought, that's a scary thought.

woof I heard about this, glad Keith is being so proactive about it. Hopefully no extended maintenance, but I'd definitely understand if it's needed.

This is concerning news regarding PHP; good thing Subeta staff got backups and all, but such a mahor vulnerability in the currently most used webpage format is no joking matter. Here's to hope it's (at least relatively) easily patchable once the official update comes out!
As if all the maintenance and refurbishment you're doing right now wasn't enough work and hassle for you! I wish us all the best through another storm!
