Cash Shop: Archive Shelf
The Hustler is gone. No more pop-up at the top of the page trying to sell you something before he wanders off.
In his place is the Archive shelf. Every Monday at midnight, Subeta time, a new shelf goes up with 16 items that used to be in the Cash Shop. Each item has 50 copies, and you can buy each one once a week. You pay in Cash Shop Credits, and the price is 15% less than the item used to cost.
The shelf stays the same all week, so you can take your time with it. The next one goes up Monday, October 26.
There's a poll on the shelf page. Tell us what you'd want to see on it, and what you think of the change!
Another cash shop update: The Chance machines are closed and the items in them have been retired. They'll show up on the shelf, and in the future you'll be able to purchase some of them directly.

I noticed all of these items in the shelf have r101 rarity for retired items, but in the past at least I thought Cash Shop items always kept the Cash Shop rarity even if they were no longer available in the shop directly. Maybe there could be a new rarity ID for retired Cash Shop items specifically or something?

@Ryuu In 99% of cases they'll have an icon and look more like:

For people who may need, the Poll is the button at the top of the page. It says: " Could you tell how the Archive Shelf works from the page?" When you click, it pops up a few questions & there's a place for (optional) written feedback too.
Also, here's a screenshot of the button, if that may help:
To note, it might make more sense for these feedback buttons to be labeled Feedback or Survey or Poll or... some other word that people can look out for? Or maybe made a color that stands out from the page better? Or perhaps utilize a specific image or icon to help draw attention to it each time we can add feedback (like a little speech bubble item?)? If I were unaware of what the buttons normally look like on these pages? That text & button just blends in with the rest of the page. It looks the same as information being displayed, like the How It Works block of text at the bottom of the screen (but I use the Masquerade layout, so maybe that makes it more blend-y? ha.).

So...Hustler would let me buy up to 3 of the same item in quick succession. Most of the time I only need one copy of an item but when the item has more than one use I tend to buy a copy for each use.
On a plus, it's a good way to get us to spend our CSC that we'll be getting daily from quests, once that is active.

Nevermind.. the info thats on the bottom of the page should be on the top. I never get to the bottom of pages. It may just be me but I think all info should be quick and easy, not under everything.
If you can buy up to 50, why can I only buy one of the item I want two of? Its wear and food.
The news post says 25% off (a quarter), while the items themselves are only 15% off. I think this is a minor error though. And I'm rather liking this change, although making it time-dependent (instead of seemingly random) is giving certain people a minor advantage. STill! I'm alll in favor of this!
Well, just trying to scroll the page to even look at it caused me to accidentally buy an item (didnt even get a confirmation pop up), so my CSC was wasted on an item I would never have bought, so, uh, not going great so far unfortunately ;-;
I assure you @BlueRiver that you are not blind. I could't find the survey button either.

I'm normally quite patient on subeta but when there is nothing I want waiting a week for the items to change feels like so long :(
The poll didn't show up, so I will put my thoughts here. I found the old banner at the top annoying and distracting. Being able to browse at my leisure is awesome. I also think it would be lovely to have retired, impossible-to-get items that weren't originally cash shop items here. Someone mentioned old SubQ items, or my personal dream items, the Street Team plushies so I could finally finish that collection.
Would have been an insane first pull for me if the glasses in there were the red ones lmao

I always appreciate limiting "FOMO" -- the totals on the old hustler definitely made me impulse purchase from time to time.
One question I have is occasionally the Hustler would drop something with a REALLY good discount -- Will those still pop up in this new archive too? From the looks of it everything is seems to be a specific % off based on their original price.

@RNA We don't have any control over the CSC <> user conversion rate, and have really tried to not touch it. It pulls from retired items in the cash shop and provides a discount based on what price they were offered in the cash shop. There will sometimes be items on the shelf that are worth less than the CSC if you bought it right then, but a lot of people are sitting on a lot of CSC and that could still be an opportunity for them to spend it.
oh awesome, i love this update (esp as someone who never paid attention to the hustler pop-ups, they were just something my eyes would skip right over aha...) i don't mind paying a little more csc but i also never looked for deals and i can afford to buy csc when i need it, so. prob an outlier here :P
i feel like there are a fair amount of cash shop items that i want that i can only ever get during sales, because they're usually retired and unavailable outside those sales. and i always feel kind of bad because i know the site needs money, but half the things i want only seem to be available when they're like.. dirt cheap lol. so i like this and i'm gonna have to remember to keep an eye on what's available!!

I noticed that at least one of the items costs significantly less in user shops taking into account the SP to CSC conversion rate.
Is there a way to make sure only items that cost more in the user shops than in CSC are listed?
And will retired Subeautique items make their way onto the shelf, or will there be another way to get them? Some of them are selling for over 40 million SP right now.

@Aline Putting it that way makes a lot of sense and I feel silly for not thinking of it 😅 Of course it only affects the things that use real currency to obtain (for the most part). Everything else takes in-game currency, and here it actually is easy to be a millionaire through hard work lots of button pressing.
This is nice, no more Hustler bugging me to buy something. But I couldn't find a poll on the shelf page.

@DruidHeart I think it only affects CSC gambling due to regulations in several countries that are banning gacha games or making them 18+ due to the use of real-life currency for gambling. Subeta is a PG-13 site and Keith most definitely wants it to stay that way.
The best thing about the Hustler was getting those items at a discount, but it's really hard to be truly miffed about it when CSC is being paid out in various ways like it hasn't in the past.
As for the chance machines and gambling, is that same thing going to affect any of the chance-style games like slots or vending?

I understand the thought process behind the change, and I get why there is a price increase on something retired. It does make sense. But I didn't mind the alerts and was always apt to buy something I liked from the Hustler because you got a deal (at least when he wasn't trying to swindle you lol). I doubt I'll look much at this now that it costs more, but that's just me.

I like this! Question: it doesn't show if the items are on my wl (eg spiral galaxy projection shows on the news post but not on the archive page) is that intentional?
I won't be using this because the hustler actually cut a deal. But outside of the price increase, it's a cool system. I'll just wait for BF sale to buy these sorts of items.

Wow love the consolidation. Makes it much easier. I never had much luck with the chance machines, so this is a bonus for me as well. Good improvement all around.

On the chance machines: We were reached out to about legal changes in non-US countries on gambling and loot boxes, and took them down until I have a chance to give the proper amount of a look at them!

I think it would be very helpful for the Archive Shelf to show on shop search as a location when the items are in stock.
