The crotch fluff makes you focus on the... crotchly area... I dont like that much. The chest fur should be a little softer, and the tail looks like its stuck on, just like the old otter. I think the tail should be an extenstion of the back line, and the tail curl up that way. Cause the tail is a part of the spine, and I dont think it makes a ninty degree ange and pops off the back.

I wasn't saying not to draw from real influence, obviously it has to come from somewhere. I was making that remark to someone who said something along the lines of "real otters don't have muzzles like that." Real otters also don't have tail flukes, real hippos don't have wings. Now it simply has a generic 'Hi I'm a pet :3 Adopt me' look. It wouldn't stand out too much. Take the antlephore for example. If it was given a normal deer face, it would be boring.

I adore the almost-shy expression on the revamp. I do agree with the others, though, that the fur on it's chest could be less pronounced, but overall I think it's a great revamp.
where is it said that the name is changed? with that you could say they completely kill an old pet, and introduce a new one.

This revamp seems to have lost all the characteristics of the otter - the big, innocent eyes, the little chubby body, the begging-paws pose... its just... not an otter. Quality-wise it's an improvement, but not for the pet itself. The size of the head got me too when I first saw it - the old one had a big head, but the rest of it was big and chubby so it looked more like it made sense. The tail is also too small and skinny - how is it gonna propel that big-headed otter through the water? The old one had a gigantic tail which looked like it could actually move the otter. Plus otters dont have dog muzzles - it just looks silly with one.

Yay! pet with furry boobies and a furry crotch! Ah the forehead could loose the little rise it has, make it slightly smaller and rounder. I don't mind seeing the feet.
Although removing the eyebrows would make it cuter.
Lift those whiskers a bit; the otter, pardon, otra, is smilling-those whiskers should add to the smile.

Luka_Pooka, you said everything else i was trying to say! the tail and the lack of adorable paw showing... and way too much chest/crotch fluff and random spots.

There are a few too many spots, and it looks like there's a spotlight shining on its head. And the very male eyebrows, crotch fluff, and boob-fluff are awful. I miss the bottom of its foot being visible too, that was very cute.

Ooh, it's pretty! o I have a DM Otter and love it though, so don't change him. My only complaint is the little mini fur-boobies and that the inside of the elbow looks off. And please don't change the name k? Otra sounds so... different. It's one thing with Kanis and Canis, but it's quite another to scramble the name that much! Maybe Ottur? Ottre? I dunno.

i don't like the upper body shape, the way the back gets sorta flat and it makes it's upper arm seem really really long. the head/face are all wrong for me, way too big and it has completely lost it's "cute" feel. also the back legs just seem... awkward and too long.

Just to add for people saying the tail looks 'stiff.' Tails are stiff. They have bones, they don't just flop in any direction. So that this one isn't curly and curvey or anything really makes it look nice. Hopefully it remains this way.
That 'revamp' is pretty, but I think it's still need a bit of work on few area to make the anatomy better, but in general I prefer the new one then the old one... I think just working around the shoulder and maybe the head a bit less fluffy... still pretty !
The shoulder/head area is cramped and awkward looking, like it's perpetually smashing it's head down. Also, the arm is a little too pudgy and round and the spots are pretty dark.

o.k., both are not my favourite pet to say the least. The new head seems too flat at the back and I liked the position of the right foot looking towards us a lot better. Ah, yeah, you seems to have aquired a definite crush on curles. The chesthair? erm... a little less? (now we know, what the old version is so frantically trying to hide...)
Overall, I'm for a revamp and I like the maintenance of the original pose; however, I think the revamp should be improved before being set 'out into the world.' Mainly, the angle between the head and shoulder looks awkward, and the legs might look better if they were closer together so the two feet could touch - then there wouldn't be that awkward emptiness between them.

But this... oh my gosh, I can't express how much I love this revamp! And the revamp of the name is really nice as well!<br />

Nestly: Oh! XD I didn't notice the possible name change. That's a good idea. They should do that for the Dragon, Turdle and Pherret too.
A lot of people are making references to real otters in their critiques - remember, they're subeta pets not real otters ^^ So it's okay if this one has a muzzle or wings or purple crab legs. Not saying it should have purple crab legs, though that would certainly be interesting. I mean, real otters don't have fluked tails, but this one does. Mmm crab legs.
I died inside when I saw this. o-o Way, waaaaay too cute for words. The left arm looks a bit wonky, though. The top of it. It looks like a doggie leg. x3;

The revamp is cute.. but not as cute. Plus.. otter's have ears. Small ears, but ears. Maybe a teensy revamp of the old one would seem better? this one seems to 'fake'
My only suggestion is to curve the stomach and back line a bit; it looking so straight is making the pose look odd. XD Seriously though, I love this either way. .

It looks very nice, however the end of its tail seems to be stiff, unlike the old one. Also, otters really don't have that kind of muzzle/facial structure. Just take a look by googling "otter". The two tufts of fur at the top of the chest also seem a bit, urr, odd. It's probably look nicer with one small (or large) chest tuft. I am certainly glad he is in a dynamic pose, though. Lots of the revamps have boring, stiff poses. D=
I don't know why but the fur on the back of the head bothers me a little bit; it seems like there should be equal spiking all the way down and not have that shallow area in the middle..
I do love this revamp a lot better than the original. However there are a few little quirks I have. I think his tail looks a little too stiff, especially the flipper part. It needs to be a bit more fluid and flowy since he is a animal that enjoys the water. His spots are a little to dark and I don't think he really needs the eyebrows but I don't mind them either

I don't like the new one. I never particularly liked the old one, as the tail seems unnaturally long and awkward... but this new one is worse. The extra spots on the face and body make it look like it has a disease. The coloring on the face is too detailed, (which I think is a problem with most of the revamps - having 6 different shades of shadowing instead of the simpleness they had before so now they look like they're trying TOO hard to be realistic).

While the art on this new Otter is a massive improvement, there are a few areas that I'm opposed to. It's head is much too large for the body. I think that if the eyebrows were to be moved downward (they seem too far away from the eyes), it would help drastically. I also miss the expression of surprise in the old otter - it was uniquue because of that. The hind leg facing us also confuses me a bit. The back of the foot is pointed, making it look almost triangular, and a bit like a duck foot. If this was intended, my apologies, but the other foot doesn't appear that way. The hind leg furthest away from us seems thinner than the other, and I think it would help if you made it's 'thigh' slightly larger. It's other hind leg is curved at the thigh, while the other one is much too pointed, almost, making it look thinner than it's other leg. Oh, and I'm loving the boobies. x] I say keep them.
But, like I mentioned earler, the art is a massive improvement, and kudos to the artist who drew it. Lovely work overall. I love the added furriness that the old otter didn't quite have.
