So, enough of Futharks... does anyone know what format this one is supposed to be? A single word, a single letter, I've found so many things that 'could' answer it, but I'm sure I've not got it right.

I put the symbol XD... Oh well guess I can wave goodbye to the owl that I won't get I was going to put the vowl but maybe thats not even right I don't know... Untill this trivia I never even knew what a dipithong or whatever it is was. Reading about it helps a little but it twists into other things that I don't even know about and before I know it I'm reaserching 50 things instead of one... Maybe it's right maybe it's not, my money is on the not XD...

i think i found it, well, i know i found the technical phrase...i'm just hoping i found the informal phrase correctly, of course the "also known as" on the page I was looking at helped me think it may be right...oh well crosses fingers and goes to do item hunt quests XP

This trivia took me a while to look up, but I don't mind. I enjoyed searching for it. ^^; The hardest part was finding the "informal name". o.o I think I got it right though. +crosses fingers+

Wonderful. The fact that I've found the answers for the last two trivia but always seem to get the format or wording wrong makes me not even want to attempt this one.

The trivia isn't hard if you dissect it a little and do the proper research. It only took me a couple minutes to find it.

What a load of crap. Yeah, people don't mind challenging trivias, but this is absolutely ridiculous. And the fact that you went 'all over the internet' to write this question is rather pathetic. Did you truly need to make it so difficult that as few people as possible would have a 'second chance' at the feather? If you had been more precise in the first trivia with the feather as the prize then there wouldn't have been such an uproar and thus no need to feature the feather as a prize again. So why is it that the users are paying the consequences? Because we speak up when the trivias are poorly worded?

I hesitated on putting the s on the end of furtharks for a moment, since it seemed to be used in a plural sense without it, but then I figured "why would they ask for plural if it's the same as the singular?" so I googled furtharks and found it used some places, so I went with it.

Futhark is the singular form. Futharke is only the german plural form, but this is an english game with english forms and i learnd at school that the englisch plural form of nearly everything is created with s at the end.xD

I don't think it matters what plural Futhark has in German, since Germanic is not the same as German, and it's an artificial (can you say that?) word in both English and German, but I actually looked it up for the Trivia, and it seems to be Futharke - if I understand the dictionary correctly. I thought the plural might have been the same as the singular, and I'm glad I went with the s I found on some sites. Whew! At least one Trivia I got right from the three Harry Potter Trivias of Doom.

When it said plural I thought it meant 2 words! As in "The format is plural" not "The word is a plural" I do wish they'd specify 1 word or 2. I put 'elder Furthark' which was the most common answer in my research.

Well, that's what I had thought... but I take nothing for granted at this point! XD I thought, who knows, it just MIGHT be an actual German word... But, anyway, there are multiple alphabets used, so futharks with the s was correct.

"Futhark" is a word derived only from the initial phonemes of the first six runes. It didn't exist beforehand, and doesn't actually mean anything (in German) as a standalone word as far as I've been able to determine.

Well isn't "alphabet" just a combination of the first two letters alpha and beta combined? And it's definitely a word on its own.

futhark is plural because when you search you become the german and the nordic runes unther this name ...but you need to search for results in English, since this is an English site. So you will find the mention of various rune scripts, being called futhark or futhork and the sum of them, or more than one, being referred to as "futharkS"
