Its a hippo, its supposed to be fat and stout and have short legs. I don't see why its suggested that they be longer, that would just be silly. And I really do agree with Tiki. A wider snout, more defined nostrils, the darker stripe down the face, and the bigger wings would really complete the look. Not saying this isnt fantastic work already, I just like how she kept the original bigger wings and brought back that real hippo personality. <img src=http://i28.tinypic.com/2ztlh5j.png border="0"> for the win. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_happy.gif" border="0" />
to be honest the moarkings look weird they don't look like they fit more so just slapped on, but idk maybe playing with the variety in size (start from the top small, go to middle and get bigger and then get smaller again back down to the bottom?) personally I don't like the tiny wings but i guess if its preffered to keep them smaller a little more fluff (width I guess) to make them more chubbier to play back better to the roots of the chibi wings.

I like the body, and the shading, but the snout is too thin and I think the wings would look better if they were.. feathery? fluffy? And the front paw looks wonky when it's tilted like that.
Not too fond of the eyes either, actually. I think it'd look better if they had a softer, more loveable look like in @xxMadxHatterxx
's example.

I agree with tiki's version, theres just something wrong with the nose and wings, but its lovely besides that =) the ears would be alot cuter if one of them folded like a dog's ear, but yeah...nice revamp

The spots are cool and its feet are really cute, but I think it needs a fatter nose, like the old one, because it would look more hippo-y and be cuter. :3
Whereas the old one looked cute, the new one looks just plain goofy. The front legs look really bizarre to me too, it makes the hipposaru look half anthro or something. o_o

It's definitely better than the original. I like the shape of the green markings, though I'm not sure how to feel about the color choice. I think they might look better in yellow or possibly even blue. I also think that adding some of the darker red to the head would look good. I know this has been said before by others, but I also think the wings should be bigger and more realistic. The ears seem a little long, too.
There's one more thing, and this probably hasn't been said that many times, but... I'd actually kinda like it to have bigger teeth, too. :'D

Ohyes the hipposaru needed an update. I definitely like the quality of the art a lot better in this update than in the old picture, but there are still a few things that bother me. Mostly what's bugging me is the positioning of the legs and that it's a little unclear what the darker stripe on his back is. (Yeah, I read that it's like the plate on a rhino.) Personally I'm not a huge fan of the green spots, and I really liked the bigger wings, instead of the chibi wings.
I do like how his paws/feet look more realistic now, with actual toenails drawn out, but the positioning of the feet still looks a little awkward to me. The only other thing I really want to point out is the teeth, which look a little bigger than I expected. Just barely, though.
Overall, though, it's still REALLY cute and gets a good feel for the hipposaru's attitude. Good job you guys, and keep up the good work! Thanks!

I don't care for how long and narrow the nose is. Perhaps make it more short and blunt like the current. Also I prefer it if the wings were a shade bigger. Other than that it looks about right.

as always I am most impressed with the quality of art on this site. Way to go artist~ and way to go art staff for the teamwork, honesty and trust that goes into every one of the wonderful things that we all have the honor of seeing here. Kudos Keith on your choice of talent!!!
Eh...I actually find this one really unattractive... pretty much everything about it is just...no. The green spots do not mach the orange body at all, and the tiny wings are pointless and don't match the rest of it in the least.

I'll admit I was Never fond of them. Clearly anyone van tell I like dark or cute furry things. But Id say this is something I'm quite impresed with. It may look a bit odd. Like the wings should have stayed the same. But it seems to fit in. Not exactly what I had hoped to be updated...

LOVE this. I wish it was more like the original design though. I like the simpleness of the hipposaru having no markings and the bigger white wings. If the wings were bigger and like Tiki said, if the snout was a bit wider with more prominent nostrils, it would look more hippo-like.

i like overall the artowrk, but I like the big wings and simplicity of the old hipposauru. Lose the spots, dark blotch on the back, and it would be much cuter.
Honestly, I really don't like it. The tail hair and the back thing are a really dark red found no where on the old one, and the old one's overall coloring seemed much lighter and brighter, and less brownish. And personally I don't care for the markings and the greenish shading of the wings either. I like the markings' design, but the green and yellow aren't very flattering. Some small things are that the ears seems a lot fatter in the new one and the tail's positioning is weird.

i don't like the tiny wings and muzzle...I don't really enjoy it over all honestly..the example Tiki down towards the bottom, I really like it 100% more then this new one. The muzzle wider and wings larger make it look so much better, the dark marking mvoed down to its muzzle also looks much better. Overall if it looked like Tiki's example with larger wings I'd so adopt one...

At first I wasn't sure about the markings, but they've grown on me after a while. I would like it if the ears were less fat like in the original and if the wings could be a bit bigger, that'd be great too. Only one of the old Hipposarus was "flying" in its pose, so it doesn't really matter if the wings can or cannot support a Hipposaru?
AlkseeyaKC's leg reworking is the only thing that I would change. I like the homage to the original and I really like all the new markings (which is odd, since i've disliked most of the last markings added to revamps...)

Obviously improved art : D I do miss the simplistic design of the old one though, and the wings definitely need to stay larger. In my personal opinion I'd remove the back...thing and maybe lighten the colors in general?
It looks kind of retarded because of the weird face... the small wings only add to that.

I voted for the new one. I'm not a fan of the tiny wings though. How on earth will the poor thing ever get off the ground?
I adore the markings and the wings, I think they're much cuter for a hippo than big bird wings and they're definitely better placed than on the last version. Maybe something a little more hippo-like, such as the ears changing? Also the closer rear leg looks more like a bunny than a hippo, the way the foot is longer and seems like it should be more square.

While I love this possible revamp, I think it could use some work.
The snout could be widened (right now it looks more like a dragon than a hippo), the eyes could use more contrast (they're looking just slightly glazed over), and it needs some dental work. Something about the teeth just look a bit off.
But those are small suggestions; I really like the pet overall and mean no disrespect to the artist.

I really like the way this revamp is looking so far, though I second a lot of the changes suggested, such as a wider muzzle/nose, less fleshy ears (not smaller, just more... ear-like?), and larger, more birdlike wings, rather than those teeny little CLAMP-ish ones. I like the green markings and improved art but, like many others said, I don't like the tiny wings. Additionally, the tail is held at a funky angle, as well as the body is way too short (I don't like the plate either. If the wings were bigger I think it'd look better). There's also something about the head that bugs me. Maybe the pretty much lack of a smile, combined with the bigger teeth?
I'm not a fan of this revamp. All I can say is shorten the legs, away with the 'chibi-chibi-kawaii' wings (big, elegant bird wings are good~), and...change those ears. The head would look so much nicer with hippo-like ears...or at least make the ears very small. Right now the revamp is a big, unbalanced, disproportionate mess, but with those changes, balance can be brought in. What I DO like are the gold and green markings, though! If they were outlined and made a bit bolder, that'd be brilliant!
He's way cute, and I love his feet. I don't really like his back-plate thing; it might be more acceptable if it were on places other than just his back. Also I agree with some of the other comments that I liked the bird wings on the previous version better.

I definitely agree with making the muzzle wider, and Tiki's edit looks really nice overall. I think it would be nice for the body to be a little longer also. Just seems very short, especially compared to the length of the legs. Otherwise, looking good =3
