It's really cute, though I preferred the old wings. I'm not sure I like the indian-ish style markings on it. But overall, a much needed update. =)
The art is gorgeous! But I must agree that the wings should not be like chibi wings, but something like the old(current) one, and remove the dark marking on its back or make it lighter.
I know that it's not supposed to be a hippo, but I too think it would look a little better if the muzzle was a bit wider.
But it does'nt change the fact that the art is gorgeous!

I like the art, it looks great. I've never been a fan of this species but all I have to say is: Where did the hippo-part of this species go?
I.. don't like it at all. It now looks more like a demonic dog (and we kind of already have the Montre) than a hippo-thing... I adopted one because I wanted a little angel hippo :

Looks a little like fangs to me... and combined with the thick, canine-esque ears, it just doesn't really work for me.. It doesn't look right.
Sad to say that if it changes, I will probably not be keeping my Orbie ;-;

Great update overall. Just a few problems I have:

I think a broader muzzle would be much more flattering. It looks kind of... smushed to me. I see that the small wings are an homage to the first version, but I love the larger wings. Maybe something a bit inbetween, but less chibi-like? Finally, the dark spot on the back does look strange, but if it were continued down the face it would look less like mud/a saddle and more like an actual marking. One more thing: the ears seem too pointy to me, but that may just be a matter of personal taste. I'd like to see them a teensy bit shorter and a little bit rounder, but I could live if that didn't happen.

Very nice art, NK - I love the toes and the nice, thick, hippo-like legs. But I agree that the muzzle should be wider and the ears smaller and more cup-like in shape, true to both of the older versions as well as the actual look of a hippo. I don't really have a problem with chibi wings, but something does seem weird and off-balance about the wings being smaller than the ears.
In terms of style, I don't think the markings (especially the dark patch on its back) are really necessary; but if they must be there, it would be nice if they weren't so tiny and undefined. The markings remind me of hindu markings, or ganesh. Kinda cool! I was JUST thinking the other day what would the artist try to do to revamp the hipposaru.

He looks very flat to me, I'm not sure why. I love that you've brought back the chibi wings (I've missed them!), but they seem a little too small.

I'm not sure about the pose I like it and I don't. The markings just done seem right to me. I really do like the chibi wings. X3 Though maybe they could be a tad bigger.

Hmm, this has always been a kind of odd pet to me and I don't think any revamp can change that. As usual it's a nice upgrade in art quality and it's anatomy fitting together. I love the dots, they remind me of the ones painted on Indian elephants and also of Indian jewelry. I agree with the people that already posted on needing bigger wings and losing the weird coloring on the back. Perhaps instead of adding that area they can just use the tail hair, wings and dots to add in contrast for colors other then the default. I know the old version had them but I think the face would look better without the teeth. ducks things throw by teeth lovers

So basically we're revamping the image so it doesn't look like a hippo, and renaming it so it doesn't even sound like a hippo? Yeah, it looks cute, but did this site really need another pudgy dragon species, because that's what it looks like.
OOO this revamp looks so good! If I would change anything though, it would be the ears. Something about them looks a bit like chunks glued-on. And if the teeth were a bit shorter like halfway the length it is peeking out now it would be cuter<3. Other than that super great work! The art is fab, and I love the take the artist did on this. I too would love to see some bigger wings, but overall I think this is great!

I'm not too sure I like the spots (might just be the green/yellow on the red that looks off-setting, even though that won't be the case with the other colors), but I love the feet. I voted for the old to see this new one touched up just a bit, like the size and shape of the wings, hopefully, since the other special colors have the fluffy jointed ones (not including hydrus or chibi, even though chibi has the tiny wings too).

Wow, I am really loving this. As others have mentioned, perhaps a bit bigger for the wings. I absolutely love the body markings. If this (or something similar) becomes the official change, this will be the perfect pet to change Persia to. Great work!

Wow! I love the detail in the revamp! However, the pointed ears and tiny wings kept me from voting for it. I like the cute face n fluff of those and how they add to the appeal of the original.
I would prefere something between. The old one looks cuter. I guess it's something about it's face.

Because Sooki revamped a lot of pets in her time that completely disregarded the original artist's work, including replacing the once-chibi wings with larger bird wings on the hipposaru. I'd just like to see slightly bigger wings. That's what I liked about the old one. Oh and the teeth just a tad shorter. Like a cute overbite instead of tusks.

clearly the pools state the minority might be upset -- but the majority LOVES this new look! I love it. I love the details on teh body. I LOVE the cuter little wings, and the new feet/nails are amazing!! It's perfect! I think the new version is gorgeous, lovelovelove the markings, but I would tend to agree with what others have said about the snout and wings. A wider snout with more prominent nostrils would make it more hippo-like rather than the almost dragonish look it has now and although the wings are cute I think I prefer the scale of the old version. Hope that makes sense.
That's not a Hipposaru. It's a whole different specie. I like the old Hippposaru just like it is .... A Hippo with wings. Keep the old Hippo and make this into a new specie. I like it. It's a crossing between a dragon and a lion with wings.

It looks more solid now and I really think that fits.
However I dont really like the colour, it should be lighter or darker but this shade is not really pretty.

Even hipposaurs, or dinosaurs like triceratops or similar had a longer and clearly visible neck.
