I voted for the new be cause it looks utterly fantastic, much props and win to the artist that did it. The one thing I will miss are the bigger wings, but I can see why they were left small. In other words, love it!
Everyone keep in mind that I'm reading your comments and taking them into consideration! The more people that voice their opinion on the same subject, the more likely that there will be a change in that area. Thanks for the comments and as before, keep them coming.

LOVE the expression and the new markings, wish the wings were a bit bigger but otherwise great job as usual!
I love the new design but, like a number of other members, am not keen on the wings. I preferred the old wings and think they would suit it better. Also, what's the dark stripe down its back? If it's dark fur then I'd do away with it and maybe add some more of the markings that are on the legs and face. Other than that, you've done a fabulous job as always <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />

The new is definitely an improvement but I really don't like the color. I prefer the bright salmon pink of the original. Also the markings bother me, they are too tiny. Can you make a different aesthetically pleasing pattern?

This thing wouldn't fly at all! xD Maybe thin out the big poof of fur on the tail too. It reminds me a lot of a lion's tail, which is nice, but I think there's a bit too much hair there.

I really agree with the suggestions @Tiki made about the nostrils and markings. I do like how the revamped wings are, but the design would follow the name better if it had even more bird-like qualities. Also, the slimed down facial structure kind of brings it away from actually looking like a Hippo.
The marking and artwork are great on this I think. And I personally am a fan of the little wings, just for the simple fact a hippo is not going to fly no matter what size wings you tack on one XD So having the little wings adds a little character in that sense, and makes it more unique to the fact that subeta has lots of pets with wings already, and none quite so small, save for maybe the feli.

Eehh.. I Voted New 'cause it needs an update, buuttt... I don't like the wings, at all. The little swirly stuff looks too cliche and anime-like. I like the older ones. Puh'lease make 'em bigger and more subeta-y? I also like the old one's ears. The rounded donkey-like... Though I think it's a great improvement!

I voted old because of the wings, honestly. They're too small and chibi like, and I've never been a fan of those. Maybe they could remain small, but be like Melody's wings? Less... Gaia-like curled and more like real wings?
The face makes it look more like a dragon. I think it's the nose, it's too narrow. Plus I think the wings really do need to be bigger.
Love the markings and if they stay, I can't wait to see what they look like in the other colors. Makes me almost want one.

I actually like the wings and markings. The little wings are adorable and not too distracting, and the markings are a splash of color. Lovely.
However, the tail fluff seemed extremely off from the first moment I saw it. Too large perhaps. It's ears also seem a little bit strange to me. Just in general. Too pointed and possibly too think in comparison to it's head.

I agree with Tiki's suggestion about the wings - but maybe the wings are supposed to be vestigial... this IS a flying hippo we're talking about. Either way, I like the new image, and the Hipposaru badly needed an update.

Personally, I like the wings being smaller. When it comes to poses and bodies, I think smaller wings suit any mammal species better. Leave the large wings for Angelic, or birds.
I do agree, though, that I think the muzzle/mouth should be wider. I mean honestly, the species isn't exactly meant to be adorable.. the buck teeth prove that. So, since we're sticking to the original design to some degree.. I think the mouth should be made wider and more like a Hippo. (And if that's not the route wanted, then remove those god awful teeth then. One or the other, would be more appealing in my opinion.)
But all in all my only issue with this, and mind you this isn't something that would make or break the species for me.. the buck teeth did that, are the addition of the little dot things. That's... odd, and totally unnecessary imo. I'm sure I can guess why they were added (To add color to the species or something to that effect) and the ones on the head I rather like, but the ones on the legs seem.. weird to me. Maybe they could be turned into something else, like coloration on the knuckles or maybe in a design similar to the head (think those jewelry arm wraps?)
All in all though, gosh... 95% improvement at least :| I still wouldn't get one, solely because of the buck teeth, and while I don't like them I know it's part of the species; HOWEVER... vastly improved! I can't wait to see more Hippos now, poor (mostly) unloved things |D

The art is a definite improvement, and I love the new markings, but I'm going to have to agree with everyone else on the wings. I much preferred them as bird wings and these ones are just too small and seem to be to be at a bit of a strange angle.

I think Tiki's right... I think its muzzle should be a bit wider, and I think that the wings should be much bigger. I also think that the ears are a bit too pointy.
But otherwise its nice... I like the added decorations to the skin, and this species has desperately needed a revamp for a long time!

I really and truly love the beautiful proposed look. As others have said, I wish the wings were larger. I also would love to have the markings a bit more pronounced and probably reduce on the size of the tail tuft. It strikes me as a bit long and thick

I really like the face on the version Tiki posted, but even the original revamp is a very interesting improvement. I love how impish it looks, it sort of reminded me of a gremlin when I first saw it...a massive, flying hippo gremlin XD
Much like everyone else has said, the only problems I have are the shape of the ears, and the new chibi wings. Other than that, the revamp is STUNNING!

I love the dot markings on his legs but I think there's too much on his head. And I'm not too fond of that huge brown spot on his back, looks like mud.

LOLOLOL this is why I am NOT an official artist. But I suck at explaining, so I tried to do an example. If you made the muzzle wider, and the nostrils more prominent, it would look more hippo-ish in my opinion. And perhaps continuing that dark back marking down the face would make it look less like mud, and would also accentuate the teeny spot markings. And larger wings would be nice, although my example sucks because they completely cover up the back marking.

I'm voting old (not that it looks better). The art is really good, and I can tell the artist is very talented. There are just several features I simply don't agree with. First off, the body looks great, though I think it'd look nicer with a lighter shade of orange for the skin, lighter shade for the back, and darker markings.
My main issues lie with the wings and the head. I really dislike the chibi wings, because I love the idea of a flying hippo, and anatomically speaking, it'd be impossible for those tiny wings to support something like that, so they're obviously ornamental. The wings really should be larger, so they look like they can support its weight.
As for the head, there are several features I dislike. The snout should be a bit wider, and the ears seem way too catlike for a pet based primarily on a hippo, I think they'd look much nicer if they were more rounded than pointed (the length, however, does seem good). But the thing that bugs me the most are the head markings, they look much more like jewelry than natural markings (think Indian style jewelry). I personally think it'd look nice without any head markings, they really seem to take away from the facial features, which is where the attention should be anyway.

I personally think it would look better without wings, but I adore the pose, the face, and the markings. The darker color on the back might look better if it blended with the body color more, instead of having such a sharp dividing line between the two colors. Other than that, I love it. I'd consider getting one.

I like the overall look of the new design, however though; I'm sure I'm not the only one to dislike the small 'chibi' aspect of the wings.
I also think it looks like a dragon now. But it's ADORABLE. ANd it still has hippo qualities. I hope it gets revamped, because he's amazing. I want one <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/smiley_sadface.gif" border="0" /> But I have no more slots.
