Now I feel old. I remember when this got revamped the first time. :P
This revamp is very pretty, but I miss the long neck. I don't necessarily think the colors need to be as bright as the old one, but something like Hanana's suggestions could be nice.

uhgadlkj that design of yours is fantastic! I love it, really hope they elongate the neck and fix the wings like you did. The wings just don't look powerful enough for a bird of prey.

I have to agree that I prefer Hanana's version, it keeps the original personality instead of turning the Fester into just a bird. I love the old Fester's little smirk and punk-ish look; I would be sad to see my Fester lose that
Of course i like the new one better, BUT I miss the long vulture neck, and I don't like the fact that it'll be another pet with blue as common color. What about dark red or dark violet?
I'd give my vote to Hanana's corrected new pose, because it IMO has better anatomy (the head is in better proportion to the body, longer neck and most of all, much better wings in plausible position). Plus I agree that the colours for the common fester should stay closer to those of the original. I'm glad if the fester gets a revamp, but only if the anatomy is reworked a bit.
While the art on the new one is gorgeous and I'm glad these guys are finally getting some much needed love, I feel like it steps too far away from what we all know as the Fester. The color change is too drastic, there's too little resemblance to the original. And the change in facial expression makes it look downright evil, whereas the original looked simply mischievous. Overall, it bears only a passing resemblance to the original design, and there's certainly a way to make the original design look better and more realistic without stripping it of all its character.
While I do love the look and colours of the revamp, I think I'm going to go with @Hanana 's design. It gives the Fester a fresh look and still keeps the personality and punk look of the original. Also I too have agree with @Hanana about the revamp's wings, there's just something about them that seems kind of off.
If Hannah's alteration was implemented I think I'd get a fester one day. And I never thought those words would ever leave my mouth.
Hanna's suggestion--basically, I agree. I love the new version even if it was unchanged, but she gives the Fester back some of it's old shape and keeps the awesome things about it.
I love this revamp exactly the way it is. I'm not 100% on the color scheme but that is literally my only mild issue. I really look forward to this and I sincerely hope it isn't changed.
I have have some crits for this because I love birds and have a strange fondness for Festers. First of all I wanted to say I'm glad these guys are getting looked at and the shading is gorgeous.
Okay a lot of this is very rough as I don't have a lot of time to polish it up. So I'll explain it all. It seems like a little but it's mostly just small adjustments other than the wings.
First my big issue with this is the wings. It's probably mostly a pet peeve of mine but wings are meant to be uniform and solid or the bird wouldn't be able to fly. It also starts to look a lot like fur when the feathers aren't unified.
The head feathers feel a bit heavy and feel kind of dinosaur-ish. I think there may just be too much going on and it's like suddenly black feathers off the grey and then blue and then black again. I think maybe simplifying it down will help. If you look at the secretary bird, which I suspect is inspiration for the newer design a bit?
The grey head feathers form part of the crest and even with the cockatoo the white head feathers form the start of the crest. Then just as a colour suggestion maybe make the crest tips the same colour as that eye patch, as many were saying that they felt the colour needed to appear elsewhere on the design and some of the original recolours had different coloured tips already.
Some of the smaller things are. The chest is a tad shallow and I think the neck should be longer like the original. That was part of what made the Fester's design unique and recognisable. I also feel that its left foot might be a little short, plus I gave him a hint of a smirk just to get some of that old personality shining through. Also just a colour adjustment to brown like the original.
This is very tl;dr but I hope you guys do because it's really nice so far but I think with just a little more touching up it could really shine. Hope I didn't forget anything ahaha.

Not to mention it's personality and demeanor have completely changed. It's character is completely different now. The change just seems TOO BIG for me, I know it's a redesign, but so much has changed it's like a new pet now, lol. Though, I do love the new legs and wings, I feel the neck is too short.

I don't like the new color scheme. I love the detail and the pose, but the moehawk seems to really be way too understated. I miss it. And, I liked how the old one wasn't quite vulture OR bald eagle. I was kinda a cross of both. This one seems all vulture. :(
Assuming this will be the new Common Fester, I don't think the colour scheme works well. What colours would you have left for Dusk or Twilight variations?
Also, the old one had this mischievous look about him, and the new one just looks... I don't know, distrustful or angry? The yellow patch beneath the eyes seems a bit off as it lacks colours elsewhere. Apart from that...

MUCH BETTER! Less cartoon-y and so much more convincing! Much more unique now too. I definitely approve. :)
It's actually an amazing and really awesome revamp of the Fester. I don't it has to be 'exactly' identical to the old art since the new really brought a major improvement. I am not a fan of the species and this just pushes me to get one. Seriously, it's perfect for me in any way. The neck is perfect that way and the proportion of the body to the head is just very well done. The eyes look fierce and I love it.

I'm gong to say the same thing about this that I did about the Reborn Sheeta. The art is lovely, but the personality of the pet has disappeared or drastically changed. If I owned a Fester that had a story written around its rock n roll rebellious old look, I'd be scrambling to find another pet to fit the story better. Realistic is good, but let's not suck all the fantasy and personality out of the pets, please.

When Subeta started changing names of some of their species to be more fantasy than realistic (Turdle to Chelon, Dragon to Rreign, etc), the whole reasoning was that Subeta did not want their species to BE realistic. Many resemble species from Earth, but none are representative of said species.
I think this new Fester's color scheme and lack of mohawk makes it resemble a true vulture too much.
And though I never really liked Festers, I thought the punk-rock theme was pretty cool. And I feel like that's missing here. Even if the mohawk were to not come back, I think the punk-rock feel should still be incorporated somehow.

I like the revamp, but I'm with a lot of people in that I think the colours should be more like the original, that the revamp looks too similar to the graveyard fester, that the neck looks too short and that they should bring the smirk back. These changes shouldn't be too hard. If they changed it to be like that, I'd actually like to get one.
I much prefer this. better artwork, closer to a real vulture. Not all vultures have long necks. This reminds me much more of the ones I see around where I live.

The OLD fester looks more like a bald eagle and is way too pretty. Vultures aren't the most beautiful birds in the world and they're more ragged. I just love the NEW fester. It's much more realistic.
This is one of the first revamps I actually do not care for. The new art is GORGEOUS don't get me wrong, but it doesn't really remind me of the old fester. It misses a lot of the attitude that the old one had. I think the color change i just... not necessary either. I loved the old silly green mohawk the other had. I understand revamping the artwork, the new art is SO well-done, but revamping the whole color scheme? Meh.

- The sites need for realism has killed the punk rocker vibe of the fester.

I like the new revamp, outside of the issue with the wings that's been mentioned, the smirk (also mentioned) brought a lot of attitude. The crest bothers me because I enjoyed the mohawk the other one had, rather than the spikiness of the crest. I love the detail, however, and did vote for the new one over the old one... I just hope it's tweaked a bit before it goes into effect, I may just get one. :)
As far as comparing the one in the poll to the one in the news comments, I prefer the Subeta version MUCH better. The one in the news comments has a much smaller head and the anatomy looks off, even to me.
