So much better all around. I would actually love to have one of these whereas the old Fester...not likely.
But like some others are saying - if that's the Common coloration, maybe make it like the old Fester, if only because it would look too much like Twilight otherwise.

I mean, they look completely different, new one looks nothing like a Fester, but more like a new species.
And I'm completely fine with that because new one is just freaking cool and amazing.

love love love the new version. I wanted to get an bird/eagle pet but didn't really like the old festers. The new art is beautiful. c:
I have a fester, so this would affect me. I like the detailing on the new version, but the bird doesn't look as clever as the older one did, which was why I got a Fester in the first place. It looks less anthropomorphic, which is a shame, I think. I think the coloring should remain the same as before as well.
I'm not a Fester fan, but here's my two cents. I love the new art, huge improvement (although the old one is awesome in it's own right) However I agree with those saying to keep the old color scheme - and the mohawk! Then fester needs it's mohawk. ;D

I'm really glad that I'm more partial to parrots and parakeets than birds of prey, because this? This? Is extremely tempting. Oh man.
The shading is gorgeous, I am seriously in awe of the way the legs were handled and oh wow I love those tail feathers. The beak is maybe a little large, but oh man it's GORGEOUS so who cares. XD The neckfluff is very well-shaded. I always enjoy the shading for bits of fluff on Subeta, ahaha.
I do, however, agree with the people that think the feathers look a little overly-ruffled. Smoothing them out would help a lot, I think. The wing being so droopy makes it look a little broken, too. s: Ahhh wings why are you so difficult...!
I personally don't mind that it has a shorter neck, but it does seem to detract from the revamp feeling and make it seem more like a new pet. Just lengthening the neck a tiny bit more would be good, I think.

Give it a lil' smirk, and change the colours back, and we've got a winner. This colour-scheme can be used for the twilight one. :>
The art for the new one is, as expected, tons better! But it doesn't have quite the same smug, punk-ish feel the old version did. I always thought that Festers were like rockstars, cocky, loud, almost overbearing, and the old version has the expression and the obnoxious hair-color to go with it. This new one, although wonderful in its own right, just doesn't look like a Fester anymore. If the color-scheme was kept similar to the old version, and the expression made more smug or defiant, it would make an already amazing revamp even better.
Meh, I like the old fester so much better. Keep that color scheme for common over the new one. Also if it doesn't have the mowhawk it just isn't a Fester to me. And I agree that it looks more like a hawk than a vulture. Lengthen the beak a tad and give it the smirk back and I think that could work. The old fester is more like a Turkey Vulture in my eyes and the new one an African one. I 100% agree with the edit of a longer neck, Festers are based off a Vulture and they have long, curvy necks to dig around a carcass without it, the animal can't function.
Yes, please, just yes. I will adopt a fester at the speed of light, if this new design is adopted.
I guess my only complaint is - as many people are saying - the revamp is a bit too monotone. It looks like it's already a twilight-colored Fester. That could be easily fixed by adding a tiny bit of extra hue somewhere, maybe on its exposed skin or its beak. I mean a little bit to set it apart from the feathers, not anywhere near as much as the current Fester.
Other than that, it is very pretty. <3 Heh, I liked the old version's mohawk, but it was a little too "extreme green" :P

The new Fester design is INCREDIBLE.
I have always loved vultures and was always very disappointed with the current Fester art—ironically, I got a new pet yesterday, and would have gone with the Graveyard Fester art were it not for... and so on, and so on. That happened a lot, since I do love birds of prey, Lains don't quite cut it, and the current Fester was always so... cartoony.
So I would definitely be getting many, many, MANY Festers were this new design implemented. :D

So if you prefer the cartoony look of the old Festers, there are always overlays. :)

I really like what Seerow said. I also would greatly miss the mohawk; at least make it an obviously different color so it stands out! The new design doesn't really have the same smug personality that I've come to know from the Fester. it's lost a lot of its charm for me. The neck looks better longer. Its new wing also bothers me, it doesn't look like it's extending out as much as the old one. If you squint and look at it just as a silhouette, it looks like it just has a really stubby wing. On the old Fester, when you look at it as a silhouette, you can still tell the wing is raised and curled forward.
I'm not a fan of the coloring. It looks like a Twilight Fester, rather than a common. And I'll nth what people have said about the wings being off. The only thing I really dislike about it are the feet. They're so cartoon-pudgy that they look like inflated balloons. That's really not what vulture feet look like at all (the toes shouldn't be bigger around then the leg joints, for one thing, and for another it looks like there's no toe joints for the bird to grasp at things or walk or hold itself upright).
One thing that bothers me, is that the feathers all over its body now looks much more like fur. Gorgeous colourscheme, but it kinda ruins the fester for me that it doesn't look like it has feathers anymore. Fluff is cute, yes, but on a bird? It just makes it look like it would be unable to fly.
Gorgeous! Just... why the color change? The brown and green aren't really that close to the Marsh palette are they?
Huge improvement, but I'd like to see the older colors back on it, since this color scheme looks so much like twilight.
I like it and I want this to be a pet, but I don't think it should replace the Fester. The Fester is currently very much a vulture while the new one has a whole lot of hawk mixed in.
The bald head and neck should definitely come back, seeing as that is one of the key elements of both vultures and Festers. The beak also needs to go back to it's long, smooth self. The old one always reminded me of being a cocky bird, but the new one just looks mean.
Again, I really like the new pet and will likely own one. But it is not a Fester :(

Oh my, I was thinking about getting one...but if this Redesing will happen, i'm SURE I will adopt one! <3
Oh, also, the only thing I liked on the old fester was his green mohawk thingy. So maybe if you could softly incorporate some of that into the crown feathers, I'd love that to death.

I've never really liked festers, but I adore this revamp. It removed/fixed everything I hated about the old one: the bright green mohawk, the smirk, the cartoon feel, the unrealistic beak, and the chunky feet. There are a few tiny things that could be tweaked, like I wish the head was turned a bit more towards the viewer instead of being just the profile, but still an enormous improvement over the old one.
I love that this is being revamped, I might actually own one now... I wouldn't mind a longer neck. I think the farthest wing looks fine, it's in an outstretched position like the old one. I'd like to see the color that's on the face to be carried over to maybe the tips of the wing feathers, or somewhere else on the body, just for balance I guess?
i agree with a lot of what a lot of people are saying. i with the head feathers were more mohawk-y, i wish the neck were longer, the wings do look a little awkward, and the colors are twilight colors. and should the tip of the back wing go down so much farther than the bottom of the feet? the facial markings are definitely cool.
but mostly i feel like, though i like it a lot as a drawing of a bird, it just doesn't feel like a fester to me. the one on the right feels like the one on the left's grandpa. its so much more for serious.

I don't know if you've ever seen a bird up close, but their talons don't actually retract - that's more of a feline thing. :P

I like the new one but the colors are so monotone except for the one splash of color on the face.
I agree with both Kestrel and Cartoon. The far wing looks a bit awkward compared to the body, and the beak is just slightly too big for the head. The feathers could also look more realistic, and the head crest could look more like a Mohawk, if possible :) However, it is a lovely revamp and I do love the new color pallet (although it looks a bit similar to the twilight color scheme). Keep up the amazing artwork ! (:
oh and also like Linebeck said, the inside of the wing is drawn so that I don't think they could actually fly.. IDK

I've always kinda WANTED a Fester, but ended up avoiding them due to their simplicity. It made me feel kind of limited- even a small amount of obscure markings just... give a perceived sense of freedom with the design, for whatever odd reason, whereas a totally blank canvas is a little too overwhelming to try and re-design while still keeping it recognizable.
Which is why I pointed out the beak color, eye marking, long feathers, etc.- they add those "freedom features" while not straying too far from the original Fester design!
SO, EVEN AS-IS, I would absolutely consider getting the revamped Fester, even as-is. (:
However, without the mohawk, I'd probably be more inclined to wait for a uniquely-posed one in hopes of it being closer to the original, mohawk-crest appearance.
It'd be kinda like.... mixing a vulture with a cockatoo, yet still keeping it totally badass.

Wow. Love this, but... I think his wings in in the old one look a lot better, they're bigger and more streamline, birds don't really have layers and layers of feathers like that on their wings that stick out like fur, particularly the the left wing.
Being based off a bird of prey, I believe the wings should look more capable of flight?
