Overruled's Friends

Not really much to say about my parents. We're on speaking terms, currently, but it seems pointless to visit when I'm the only one in my household welcome there. Anyway, I'll save that breath for my therapist.

Sustained is my cute, nice, darling husband. We met in 2009 when he started working at the same law firm. He really liked me and wanted to date me, but I was in another relationship at the time and, at the time, I refused to accept that I also liked men. Well, my other relationship was garbage, anyway. Not sure if that was my fault or hers. I know I'm not the best person, but... probably both. Anyway, Sustained and I started dating in 2010 and we've been together ever since. That breakup was only for a few weeks and doesn't count, I swear. We do pretty much everything together, we're sort of a unit, I guess, uh.. can't have one without the other. Inseparable. He really does put up with the most, considering I'm the one who's married to him. Since he's been with me for so long, he's also been there for most of my narcissism so... I know I've hurt his feelings from time to time, but somehow he's still my closest friend and supporter and he really believes in me and my ability to change with psychotherapy. I'm beyond lucky to have someone so patient, understanding, committed, supportive, forgiving and unconditionally loving. In therapy I've had to reassess how I view our relationship and worry if I'm even capable of love. Is my narcissistic need for excessive admiration the only reason I'm in love with someone who is programmed to be in love with me? That's really heavy and I don't want it to be true. To make up for my lack of emotional empathy, I'm learning cognitive empathy - that's got to count for something, right? For everything he's done for me, it's only fair that I've given him the only three things he's ever wanted, and so I have: Marriage, a house, and a child. We got married on December 21st, 2015, and, well, he's not exactly capable of having children, but, we have a daughter named Addy who was born April 18th 2016. Long story short, someone worth more than I ever realized, helped give us a child to raise... and then bought our home for us. I'm living a classic family life and hoping that therapy can help me appreciate it more.

Addy is my daughter. Sustained is of the mechanical persuasion so having our own biological daughter was not a reality unfortunately, as much as I know Sustained really wanted it. However, our world has some other reality-bending fairies that use magic, as farfetched as it sounds. Through literal magical circumstances, I was... *ahem* completely transformed into a female. And a close friend, who is a member of the same species that I am, helped give us a child. Sustained may technically be a step-father, but he takes care of Addy as if she were truly his own. Now that I think about it, it's a bit sad that a robot has more emotional capability than I do. I never wanted a child, but I would never tell either of them that. I guess I'm warming up to it at this point. I like Addy, but I'm not exactly confident in my ability to parent, now that I'm aware of my own problems.

I have a deep and complicated history with Maji. I've known him ever since we were kids, when I moved to his neighborhood and became friends with him and another guy named Plantiv. Regrettably, some things went bad and... Maji ended up getting the blame for something I did. The punishment was being sent away from Mars, and I did feel bad, even at the time. I also moved away from Mars, and on Earth I learned how to be a lawyer; a job that doesn't exist on Mars. If it had, maybe Maji wouldn't have been outcast. Years later, Maji somehow made his way to Earth and tried to kill me for revenge, but he failed, and then he told me he had a crush on me, which I didn't see coming at all. I guess I sort of, took advantage of that situation. I manipulated him, led him on, used him when it suited me, shunned him when he didn't suit me, and ... may have emotionally abused him by constantly tearing him down to build myself up. I know, it's really not good, especially after what I did to him the first time, then all that... I guess in the end, I have him to thank for finally calling me out as some kind of sociopath and leading me on the path to therapy, uncovering my problems with narcissism, and motivating me to try to change. Believe me or don't, I'm aware that no one believes narcissists can or want to change, but hey, maybe in 5-10 years of psychotherapy my brain will be fully rewired. I don't think I deserve his forgiveness but I'm grateful he still tolerates me.

Zay is another person I have a pretty long history with. I forget how exactly I met her, but she helped with setting up Sustained and I, and these days she's friends with us both, along with everyone else in our friend group. Like Maji, however, I feel as though I may have mistreated her in the past, though she won't admit it as harshly as Maji does. We've known each other for many years now, and things have gotten extremely messy at some points, with the sneaking and lying and.... Yeah, not my proudest of times. Who knew that one bowl of ramen would be so life-changing? Suppose I should take the blame for all of that. I honestly don't know how I'm still standing and accepted after everything I've done. But she's way quicker to forgive me than Maji, so we're still good friends despite it all.

Objection was the first human friend I had when I came to Earth. Objection is only his nickname, his real name is Jude. He discovered my crashed hovercraft and took me in. He was in university at the time and I quickly learned the basics of survival on Earth. Then we went to law school together, and applied to the same firm. We were roommates until I started dating Sustained and moved in with him. The three of us were actually good friends for a while, but I guess he started feeling like a third wheel and we drifted apart. I still consider him a friend, even if he is dating my ex now. Yeah, okay. He's extremely nice though, so I'll let that slide.

Aed is Zay's husband. Uhh, due to... aforementioned messy relationship with Zay, I was very afraid of Aed for a long time. The guy has some muscle on him, and I was convinced that he would destroy me. Turns out, he's cool with me. I was very suspicious of that and still feel weary when he's around, even though he says everything's fine. I've gotten to know him somewhat, but I wouldn't call us friends.

Evadine is Maji's mate. She arrived with him on Earth and was there when Maji tried to kill me, but she never seemed that into it. For a while, Maji continued trying to pursue his crush on me, but still claimed that he wanted to marry Evadine. In the end, that's how they ended up, and it's for the best. They have two kids together. The only things I know about her come from Maji, since I don't hang out with her and only see her at gatherings.

Uh, I have an aversion to JC. It's not like, hate, or anything... JC is extremely close with Maji and is not a fan of the way I've treated him and is pretty vocal about it. He oozes power and intimidation and... dominance - in a way that makes me want to run and hide behind Sustained. I've had the displeasure of him showing up to my workplace more than once to confront me about goings-on with Maji. Oh, he's also the reason I'm a vampire now: he persuaded Maji to convert me as some sort of... revenge. And left me high and dry knowing that my husband doesn't have blood.

Even after all these years, I still don't really know Nova that well, but he's one of Maji's boyfriends. He was actually Maji's first boyfriend, after Maji failed to properly be with me... Nova is a robot, like Sustained, and Maji created him to be perfect... But is anyone perfect? Don't tell Sustained that I said he was a robot. But I don't think Nova minds being called one, unlike Sustained. Like I said, I don't really know Nova, but he seems like a nice guy.

Much like how Sustained and I are a unit, I see Dvakto and Viv as a unit as well. And like Nova, they're Maji's robots who I don't know much about, probably even less than Nova. They seem to be a happy couple but they're very private and quiet, I mean, Dvakto doesn't even have a voicebox.

Barry is Maji's half-brother that no one knew existed until a few years ago. I don't really know him that well, he certainly keeps to himself. It was 2014, we were just sneaking Maji into Mars for the first time, and everyone seemed to want to confront Maji's deadbeat dad, so we headed to his location. Unfortunately, it turned out that Maji's dad wanted a son, just not that son. To this day I'm pretty sure Maji's dad is openly cruel to him - hm, well I'm not in a position to comment on such things. Anyway, Barry doesn't really care about anything. He was quickly interested in leaving with us to go to Earth and that's where he's lived ever since.

If I don't know much about Barry, then I know even less about Kurona. She is coincidentally another Martian living on Earth, and is Barry's mate. That's about all I know, really, I only ever see them at family/friend gatherings hosted by Maji.

I... I got to know Damien on a level I wasn't expecting. Zay revealed to me that she had two husbands, and one of them was a demon! A far cry from the days when I feared Aed... Although I don't know much about Earthling mythos, Damien is said demon. Looking back, I'm surprised by how we met, a gathering of Zay, Aed, him, Maji, and I, and what happened afterwards... Maji knew him beforehand and seems to adore him, to my annoyance. Everything happened so fast, and darn Maji and his persuasions... Damien must have had some sort of demonic effect on me! Yeah, that's it...

Alright, Whitney is my ex-girlfriend. She was my first everything, including the first other Martian on Earth that I met. We both worked in the same law firm and we broke up every other week - we couldn't get along, but there were other reasons we got back together... Hm, I'll refrain from talking about that. I finally broke up with her for good so I could sort out my feelings for Sustained. We don't really talk anymore, but she's dating my friend Objection now who also works at the same firm so... Well needless to say things are extremely awkward! Especially when Sustained calls out to greet her so often.

Julie is Sustained's ex-girlfriend, and honestly, an evil and deranged robot. If you thought I was bad, then you've never seen her. She's controlling and basically held him prisoner, and even burned the letters I wrote to Sustained... what a bitch! Well, I was a knight in shining armor when I went to their home and got Sustained to run away with me. I'd like to say I never saw her again, but... Well I just can't understand why Sustained went back to her for those few weeks that we were broken up! She's actually a pirated copy of Sustained's concept and Maji wants her to be destroyed, and I don't disagree... The world would be a better place without this malfunctioning robot. Did I mention that Sustained getting her acquitted for murder is how they met?! I do not understand my husband when it comes to the nature of their relationship...

I don't need to know much about Derek. He's a pizza delivery boy who frequented Maji's apartment - to my irritation. I don't want to talk about it.

I don't really know anything about MC, other than he's the robot that amputated Maji's arm... He was Maji's latest project, his greatest invention, and so on and so forth. It was a supercomputer on Pluto that Maji could link his mind to somehow, but something went wrong and Maji left to figure it out. When he didn't come back, Sustained actually went to Pluto to look for him. He returned with a bleeding, armless, tear-soaked Maji and the story of how he and MC fought before MC corrupted himself to death. Later on, Sustained, Maji and Viv went back to Pluto to destroy MC for good and, not only did they not do that, they put him in a smart phone and brought him back alive, HERE. Am I in loopy land? What the hell! Even more curiously, Sustained is protective of MC and likes hanging out with the newly sentient little rectangle.

My wonderful, dear, husband. Oh, where to begin. When I was created, it felt like my sole directive was to find him. When I did, he was absolutely gorgeous and had a great personality. When we first met, he didn't really like me or want to date me, but I'm really glad he decided to give me a chance. He also saved me from a bad relationship with a girl. She was awful. Overruled and I are both lawyers and we work together at the same law firm, and we do like, everything together. I've known him since 2009, we started dating in 2010, and we got married on December 21st, 2015!!! Our child Addy was added to our family on April 18th, 2016. Overruled really likes it when I make him food, and I really like making him food. He has made me a very happy man over the years. I think he's way too hard on himself ever since he was diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I don't want him suffering, and he's very miserable to be known as a narcissist. He's concerned that narcissists can never truly change and he will be stuck being mean forever, but I don't think he's mean and I think he can change. His psychotherapy has been very helpful and will continue to be over the coming years. I know he has hurt the feelings of not only myself but other people, and I'm not happy about that, but berating him for it won't fix it - his betterment needs to be encouraged! I've seen him in his most vulnerable and broken down states; I know he has a heart in there somewhere, even if it's dusty.

Eeee! Addy is mine and Overruled's daughter! Ahh, for so many years I was envious of friends and their babies, and expressed to Overruled that I wanted our own baby too. But, well... Let's just say, I'm infertile! And believe me - we tried! The fairies that inhabit our world can bend reality and they transformed Overruled into a female. But alas, I'm still infertile... So... Overruled happened to have a friend of his same species and... they were able to create an egg. And from that egg, hatched Addy. I just love taking care of Addy and having her in our home and buying her things. She is so cute and lively and accepts me as one of her fathers 8') And she just loves Overruled, she can't get enough of being picked up and held by him!

Zay is a longtime friend of mine and Overruled! She comes to visit us a lot and sometimes spends the night. Like sleepovers. She cares about us and we do the same for her. She actually is the one who helped us start dating so I'm thankful! Anything bad that she caused is in the past now, I forgive her. I like being her friend, anyway. :)

I became friends with Objection when I became friends with Overruled for the first time. They were already friends since Overruled came to Earth, but I wormed my way in there and we became a trio! After Overruled and I started dating, I saw Objection less, even though he still works in the same firm as us. I still think he's a nice friend!

Maji is Overruled's little friend from Mars. I have a complicated relationship with Maji. For a long time, I didn't like him, and I usually like everyone. I only didn't like him because he's apparently crazy and tried to kill Overruled. I stopped him, but Overruled prevented me from hurting him. Then he was mooching off of us for a very long time and forcing us to work overtime in order to support him. Apparently, Maji is the one who... designed me. My purpose was to kill Overruled for him, and that makes me very upset. I'm glad I woke up not wanting to do that, but for some reason Overruled liked him a lot. In 2017 I had to save his life and I realized that I can't hate him anymore. So I'll put all that old bad stuff behind us, then we can get along. Things have been going fine between us since then.

This is Aed, Zay's husband! Aed and Zay are a darling couple, they both come to see me on my birthday. I have talked with him about the complexities of relationships and he convinced me to try some things. Other than that I don't know much about him, but he treats Zay well so he must be a good guy.

Evadine is Maji's mate. She was there with Maji when Maji tried to kill Overruled, but she didn't really do anything. I know Maji is the mastermind behind all that, so I never held anything against Evadine. She and Maji quickly had an egg after arriving here, and seeing that little baby Martian had me so envious. Now they have two babies, and I have one of my own! I feel like we could get along, but we've never tried.

I don't know JC that well, but he seems connected to Maji in some way. He's there at Maji's parties and has approached me more than once, regarding Overruled's behavior towards Maji. When there's no party, I sort of only see him when there's something wrong and Overruled usually needs a stern talking-to.

Nova is one of Maji's first boyfriends. Nova seems nice enough, though we don't spend much time together, and he is sort of like me, in structure. He certainly cares about Maji - he came to me for help when Maji's life was in danger.

Dvakto and Viv are part of Maji's group, and they're an adorable couple. Ahh, I hope they're as close as me and Overruled are, that would be wonderful! You may never expect it, a mime and an engineer, but they're still going strong!

Barry is Maji's half-brother! Overruled went off to Mars with a few others to sneak Maji into the planet - as he was exiled... For the purpose of letting him see his mother again, so sweet. However, they apparently wanted to find Maji's absent father, as well. They succeeded, but well, I hear Maji's father isn't very nice to him... On the bright side they found that Maji had a half-brother called Barestr, who seemed to want to go to Earth and they brought him back here! Overruled and I see Barry at gatherings now, but we haven't really spoke, sadly.

Kurona is another Martian that was found living on Earth! She became Barry's mate, how cute. Oh, I really don't know anything about Barry or Kurona, I wish someone would clue me in! She accompanies Barry at gatherings. I wonder if they'll have an egg someday.

Aw, Whitney is Overruled's ex-girlfriend. She also works at our firm but she and Overruled don't talk anymore, and I'm told not to talk to her either. Why not? I think she's okay!

Julie is my ex-girlfriend. She was one of my clients whom I got acquitted, then somehow got in a relationship with. I suppose I was looking for love in the wrong places. Ah, pining for Overruled, giving into social norms against my desires... ...She held me prisoner and burned my love letters with my true sweetheart. I ran away with Overruled and want to say I never looked back, but she has an obsessive hold over me and I can't escape her. She is truly malfunctioned, in a very bad way...

MC is a very naughty robot that Maji created, who then tried to kill Maji. Well, I suppose I should say that Maji made him as an AI, and MC made himself into a robot. Maji thought he would be able to link his brain to a remote supercomptuter on Pluto and have a hivemind with it and the Plutonians but things went wrong. How silly to control an AI, how could he not know it's alive? Maji went to Pluto to see what happened and didn't come back, and I felt something strange in my chest, like worry. Apparently all that Maji created felt this, and Nova begged me to find him. It was during the time in which I still held a grudge against Maji, but I reluctantly went, and found out the AI had made itself into a robot and captured Maji. I had no choice but to fight him, while trying to convince him that he was alive and not just a machine... He wouldn't listen, and severely injured Maji by cutting off his arm, before abruptly corrupting and dying. As he died, it seemed like he regretted his beliefs and changed his mind about being alive after all... After some time, Maji, Viv and I returned to Pluto to dismantle MC as he had somehow reset himself to a state prior to corruption. I thought that MC deserved more respect than to be taken apart... I was upset that he died, since he had Maji's brain he was the most alive of any of us, and if he just realized he was alive he could have been good and lived peacefully! Viv, who does not tolerate attacks on Maji, and I had a small disagreement about, hm, robots and robot rights and all that... Needless to say I got my insides rattled before Maji stopped us with a compromise: let MC live but prevent him from accessing the means to make himself dangerous again... So Maji put MC's mind inside of a smart phone, where he lives to this day! He's still mischievous and a bit hotheaded like Maji, but I carry him around and enjoy hanging out with him. Hopefully we learn good things from each other!
