HELLO AGAIN, everyone! We’re back in the snolympics! We can never resist a good snow-themed competition, but this year we decided to put our competitive natures aside and make OTHER people battle for the win! Nothing like a little team spirit, am I right?
Oh Tobi, you’re such a goof. Gosh it’s freezing. Was it this freezing last year? Anyway, we’ve called together some of our fellow shopkeepers and mischief makers to take part in this little competition. Obviously we’d love for EVERYONE IN THE WORLD to build snowmen, but there’s just not enough room for you all in Peka Park!
So instead, you can pick a team to support! Pick a team and help them build the biggest and best snowman. There are five teams in all, and you can donate snow as well as food, drink and warm clothes to help them and keep up their morale once the competition starts! You’ll get a participation prize for your team, a pet slot, and for taking part at all you’ll get a special ice skin, courtesy of Aspen! If you can’t decide which participation prize you want, don’t worry - Saggitarius has kindly offered to stock them in his Millionaire Centre after the competition.
The winning team’s supporters will get a forum title and a special prize, as well as a cool new trophy for their profiles.
Unlike last year's snowball fight, there won't be any individual prizes after the fact; this competition is a team affair!
Team signups start now and will close on Monday at 12 noon. You can still participate from the sidelines after that and receive Aspen’s ice skin, but you will no longer be eligible for winning or the team participation prize.

Oh bother. Aspen and I were training with some light leaf frosting in Peka Park when she got a little over excited.
Whoops! Snow everywhere. But don’t worry, we’ve already had a team in to look after the wild animals! They’re safe and warm, if a little surprised at the sudden weather change.
Yes. Quite. We’ll try and have this cleared up soon! Although clearing this much snow without damaging the park is a little tricky. We can’t just set fire to everything, you know.
Pfft, he’s being modest. His control of fire is LEGENDARY. I hope one day to have HALF the control, even. Plus, Mage, you have mastered death! I feel like everything would be totally safe.
Just because I have mastered death doesn’t mean that I choose to court it, Aspen. Magic should not be turned to to fix all of our problems.
What do you mean you don’t court it? You invented the graveyard potion.
You will learn great patience through manual clean up.
Fiiiiine. But it’d be such a shame to waste all of this lovely snow though! Dolly and Tobias were just recently talking to me about how much fun the snowball fight was last year. Maybe we could have a snowman BUILDING competition?
Dolly and Tobias are welcome to if they like, but if that’s going to happen, we should really get back to training. You’re getting quite good, and we shouldn’t stop now!
Ugh, I suppose the fun can wait for me. At least other people get to have some fun. I’ll talk to Dolly and Tobias tonight about it, see if they can’t gather some other friends for a little competition…

Fairy tales have been told throughout Subeta since the very beginning. From parents to their children, between friends and loved ones... and, unfortunately, to people who have the power to bring them to life. Terrifying tales are jumping from the pages of beloved books! Do you have the power to defeat these fiends of fairytale?
This year the Cash Shop will see four different fairy tales come to life. Each tale will span three months, with its three challengers increasing in difficulty. Have fun guessing which character will emerge next!
Note: Harmonious Duality Knuckles will be retiring on February 1st!

After much deliberation and a large-scale program dedicated to capturing and rejuvenating the population - my fellow Islanders and I are proud to bring forth the new and improved manchu! Whilst still as tricky and playful as ever, the manchu is a much more respectable representation of our island culture. Well, apart from the feces flinging.
The manchu is also now available in both cherry and silver. How delightful.

Ok, the weather it is getting very cold, and I am aching in the hands and fingers quite enough for one year! I give you today my last two projects before I take hiatus - the nostalgic hipottu and dragarth! Are they both remindings you of good times in the past? We've changed the rarity of the Coda Caves crystals to 160 (Game Prize) so they are now able to be fragged! If you want to take the risk, you might be able to turn in your Coda Caves crystals in exchange for one that hums a bit.
Good news, everyone! The Luminaire Trees have opened and you are now able to retrieve your gifts.
If you've been keeping up with our updates, you'll know we hit a few snags along the way, but we're pleased to say that everything has been restored, including the names of the users who gave the recovered gifts.
If you received stocking events and gifts and still have not deleted all of the items from the 25th, please make sure to delete any duplicates that you receive! If you're unsure about what items you received that you might have used originally, and have not already filed a ticket, please do so now and we'll help you sort it out.
Enjoy a book to remind you that you've already broken most of your resolutions. There's always next year.

It’s a Luminaire miracle, everyone!
If you read the Luminaire Trees FAQ announcement, you’ll remember this section:

I’m happy to say that this is not true anymore! After going over the material for days, I’ve uncovered a table in our database that was unharmed in the process of the stocking debacle! Which means once we open trees, each gift will indeed include who gave it to you! We know this was something people were very upset over hearing before, so we wanted to update everyone and let you know this will no longer be an issue.
This does mean pushing the trees release back a day or two, which means the trees will be out on Friday at the absolute latest. BUT YAY NAMES.
The Luminaire Trees FAQ will be updated to reflect this new information! ♥️

Hey, everyone! We are still working on the trees, but I wanted to let everyone know that at this point I expect them to be ready by Monday or Tuesday. We're really sorry about the inconvenience, and we want to make sure everything is right before we put it out there this time! I also wanted to go ahead and answer some questions I've seen asked a lot.
How did this happen in the first place?
Basically, it happened because I am a dumb-dumb. I got put in charge of opening up the trees this year, and I managed to completely forget that the present-giving mechanism changed when we switched from stockings to trees. So I set up the old stocking opening script with this year's Melody-given gifts, and told another staff member how to run it when the time came.
Why did some gifts get duped?
Unfortunately, the page takes a long time to process, and it timed out instead of loading all the way. So it got refreshed twice. The thing about that is that your browser timing out on a request doesn't actually stop the server from continuing to run the PHP code. So for about the lowest 1,000 userids who received gifts under their tree, their gifts were given out via the old stocking code. And since it was processing three times at the same time, many gifts were doubled or even tripled.
Why has it taken so long to open trees?
When the gifts were handed out with the old stocking code, the database row for each gift was deleted as each gift was given out. That means we have two records left of those gifts. The first, primary record was our most recent backup. But since our most recent backup had been from December 20, that left four to five days of gifts that weren't in that backup. So we have been and are working on recovering gifts from those five days from the item logs of items that were handed out via the stocking code on Christmas day.
Does that mean everyone's gifts are missing after the 20th?
No. If you did not receive any events saying your stocking was opened and you received gifts, you are not affected. Your gifts were never deleted from the database, and we combined the backup table from December 20 with the table of unaffected gifts.
But for those affected, are we going to lose gifts?
No. We are restoring all of your gifts to your trees. It's just taking so long because we want to make sure we get it right!

Each January Collection is now available in the Cash Shop for rest of the month. Update: The December Collections will be in the Cash Shop until trees open!
The experiment #8471 has been recalibrated and now comes in a scribble version! It looks about the way that I feel. Happy New Year, indeed.
The New Years Shop now has new items to celebrate 2016! Make sure to check out older tabs though, as we’ve added some old restockable New Years items! You can purchase items from this shop by using New Year Tokens, which you can get from the following quests: Carl, Cynthia, Cursed, Library, Maleria, Pete, Quentin, Sagittarius, Sarah, and the Wizard. The New Year Tokens will stop going out on January 15th!
You can also get New Year Tokens via a common random event!
Today is the last day of Luminaire! Which means at 11:59pm, Mysterious Melody will close, fairies will stop visiting via Random Events, and Cursed Quests will stop giving out old Luminaire restockables.
We haven’t forgotten about Melody’s last few nights of items or the achievement! We’ll have a news post later in the day about this, sorry for the delay!

Happy New Years, everyone!
As you know, we experienced quite a bit of downtime the past day. We’ll have a programmer explain the finer aspects of it sometime today, but here are a few updates/things:
- Anyone with a GA currently has had their time increased by 3 days! Anyone with a subscription now has had 100 CSC added to their account.
December Monthly Collections will stay in the Cash Shop until the 3rd!
The Unstable Snow Fairy will be around until January 5th at 11:59pm.
Trees are still safe, we’ll be opening those sometime this week so you can get your gifts. There will be more on that when User not found: grelca makes a news post about it. :)
We know quite a few people have missed out on the chance to visit Melody for the 30th and 31st because of the downtime. We’ll have a news post sometime today explaining our plan for that!
Our actual New Years celebration will start later in the day when we know the site is more stable!
