Legacy Name Removal
An extra confirmation page has been added to the Legacy Name Removal feature of the Bathhouse.

If you have accidentally removed a pet's legacy name prior to this news post only, please file a ticket and we will restore it.

Pet Name Exchange
We have removed the page for swapping two pet's names, since you can now simply rename both pets. If you have used the name swapping feature since the Non-Unique Pet Names update on July 26th, please file a ticket for a full CSC refund.

It's been pointed out you cannot actually have two pets with the same name. Pet Name Exchange will be back soon, but in the meantime continue to file tickets if you have used it as it will not cost 750 CSC when it returns :)

No, the next legendary pet challenger is not behind the kanis. This is no ordinary kanis, it has a vicious streak a mile wide, I'm told! Hahahahaha, I know, I'm not sure I believe it either. I mostly came to Delphi for a nice tan and a snorkel! When a laid-back local told me with a smile to watch out for the dunes, I thought she meant because of all the poop around. While that definitely is a problem, she seemed much more concerned about a creature that burrowed among them.

She told me of Sandwort, an unforgiving and huge kanis that defied the species penchant for being cute and cuddly. This kanis in fact is said to have nasty, big, pointy teeth, and those who challenge it await defeat! Sounds like fun to me! I'm not one to skip a lead, so follow the Delphi Dunes Legendary Track that I've put in the Cash Shop to help defeat this nasty beast of the dunes! I'm sure we can be back to sunbathing in no time.

Hello! We have a few more updates to share with you today:

Changing Pet Names!

There is now a way for non-gold accounts to rename their pets! Now that pet names are no longer unique, we wanted to make renaming pets easier and more accessible. Instead of making it something you buy, we're now only limiting it by frequency:

• Regular accounts may rename one pet per week. That's any pet, but only once per week.
• Gold Accounts will continue to work how they have: one name change per pet, per month.

The weekly limit resets on the rollover from Sunday to Monday each week, and the monthly limit resets on the 1st day of each month.

Pet Name Loyalty Totems
Some of you may have noticed an issue with Pet Name Loyalty Totems: It would not allow you to change the pet's name, but it would take the item. If this happened to you, please file a ticket and you will receive be given a new Loyalty Box as reimbursement. In addition, those who were affected by this issue will be given a name change that will not count towards your account limit.

The Loyalty Petname Totem is no longer available. Those who currently have a Loyalty Petname Totem can change it back into a Loyalty Box to choose a different prize.

Subscriptions: Loyalty Benefits

The Councilor and Goddess plans now have an extra benefit: stamps for your Loyalty Rewards Card! The Councilor plan will give you 1 stamp and the Goddess plan will give you 2 stamps.

For those who currently have an active Councilor or Goddess subscription: We are going to award these loyalty stamps to you retroactively over the next day or two. You will receive a sidebar notification once your new stamp(s) have been added to your account.

Other Notable Changes

• The Pet Friends page has been updated to require both a pet name and username when you add a new pet friend, so that it can look up the right pet.
• Buddy Gold Accounts can now be given to users who already have a Gold Account, and will be added to their existing GA time!
• The new pool for clearing legacy names at the Bathhouse now has a clear warning in the confirmation pop-up that it will NOT change your pet's name - only the legacy name info will be cleared. This has also been made clearer on the Change Name page.

A new cleansing pool has been unveiled at the Shengui Guo Bathhouse! Should any of your pets wish to forget their legacy names, they can now take a dip in the 'Fresh Start' pool and never have to think about their old names again.

This package is free and unlimited - of course, while you're at the bathhouse maybe something in the gift shop will take your fancy, you shouldn't leave without at least having a look around!

It's happening! This change is a massive shift over what we've done for the past 15 years and we know upfront that this change will make some people happy, and some people upset. We're making this change to preserve the future of Subeta, and to keep excitement for new users as high as for those of us who've been here for the last 15 years.

We've listened to feedback on this for years, and have looked at how other popular modern games handle unique names like this. We've come to a decision and are implementing it today.

The goal at the center of these changes is to give everyone on the site the freedom to be as creative as they'd like, and build characters around their pets without having to scour for the name you want for months - and to honor those who fought for names and waited months.

Pet Names

From this point forward pet names are no longer unique. That means, for example, there can be two pets named Spot on the site at the same time. You can build stories and characters around a name, without needing to add numbers or strange spellings. We're looking forward to seeing a burst of creativity!

Changes:
The new URL structure for your pets looks like: https://subeta.net/pets/keith/AwesomePetName

And the sCode for linking to pets is: Code:

[pet=keith/AwesomePetName]

...where "keith" is the username of the pet's owner, and AwesomePetName is the (hopefully awesome) pet name!

All of the links around the site have been updated to reflect this change.

Changing Pet Name

You can now change your pet name once per month with a gold account. That means one name change per pet, per month. We'll have a way for everyone to rename their pets soon!

Legacy Pet Names

To honor those who have spent time, effort and money in obtaining unique pet names up until now, every pet created on the site up until this news post now also has a legacy pet name that links them to their names prior to this update. The old URL structure and sCode will still work, and will link to the pet with that legacy name.

For example, if I owned AwesomePetName before this update, then https://subeta.net/pets/AwesomePetName here will still link to my pet AwesomePetName for the rest of time!

If I change my pets name to "TotallyAwesomePetname" the legacy name will continue to be AwesomePetName. This status will persist even if your pet is transferred to a new owner.

There is a line on the pet profile designating the legacy name, and this can be removed targeting the .legacy-name class with CSS. For example, the following CSS will hide it completely:

Other Changes

We will no longer be clearing old pet names - all old pets will retain those legacy names.

We will still be clearing usernames at the same time, as they continue to be unique. No pet names will be cleared.

You can mass-transfer items from your legacy shops into your vault here.

There is also the option to one-click remove an item from a legacy shop from the Account Search page, and complete quests with legacy shop items. If an item a quest asks for is in one of your legacy shops, there will be an option to complete the quest with that item. That option is checked by default, but you can disable it from your user preferences.

Like we said earlier this month, we will not automatically move items from legacy shops to vault yet. We'll give y'all a warning before we eventually do this. <3

You have until 11:59pm on July 21 to buy items from Local Fresh Wholesome, Rumi's Vegan Life, Shanti's Sustainables, and The Brewery. These shops will close at the end of Neugarten until next year, so get what you want while you can!

Thank you for the enthusiasm for our new subscriptions! We've signed up hundreds of users and have started collecting excellent feedback from the first week of use.

We have an update for users who had existing stripe "pay and save" subscriptions, or who had purchased months of GA at a time. First, thank you to everyone who purchased more than one month of GA at a time, your faith in the site is 😍 what keeps us going.

First, we added PayPal as a payment option! We're looking into adding more payment options including apple pay and google pay in the upcoming weeks. If there is a payment processor that is used in your home country that would make signing up easier, please let us know as well.

Second, If you have 2+ months of gold account and would like to subscribe for the new subscriptions, please make a create a ticket and a UA will convert your remaining GA time in cash shop credits (rounded up, of course) so you won't be wasting that perk of the subscriptions.

We're also aware of a small number of users who are unable to register for the new subscriptions (they get sent to the "thank you" page page, but with no charge to their card or subscription benefits) and we are working to resolve that as soon as possible.

Items you can find in the CW Shops
With the introduction of the our new subscriptions (thank you to everyone who has subscribed already!!) and custom wearable vouchers we're looking to shake up the custom wearable market. BUT we want to share the decision making for the market that so many of you have poured so much creative energy, time and money into.

The concept and rules for custom wearables come from a long time ago, when we were worried about them overrunning the site completely with hundreds of items. :laughing: Well, we're now at tens of thousand items on the site and I believe we've crossed that bridge. Thousands of times. So, the new focus and guiding light for the CW market is to make it as easy and efficient as possible to submit an item and get it on the site, and just as easy to find the perfect CW to complete your outfit, for as few CSC as possible to continue to support the site.

We're starting to find where our creative focus is best spent (plots! events! features!) and it's not on pumping out new wearables (y'all have that COVERED), so, we're putting together a small group of users to work with us on three specific, near term goals:

1. Rules and Acceptance Criteria: The rules for custom wearables were made a long time ago, when we were worried about them overrunning the site completely. Well, we're now at tens of thousand items on the site and I believe we've crossed that bridge. So, my new focus for the CW market is to make it as easy and efficient as possible to submit an item and get it on the site, and just as easy to find the perfect CW to complete your outfit, for cheap.
2. Approval / Denial Process: If we relax the rules and lower the price (#3!) we expect significantly more items to come into the queue. We're interested in a solution where users can give each other feedback, and be part of the process for approving the items onto the site.
3. Pricing: If we make it easier to submit new items, we also want to lower the prices. Find a way to remove the slotting process overall and move all CW purchases to the shops (giving the submitter multiple copies, and reducing the price to shop are options) to streamline finding CWs to wear and buy.

These goals push us to make the market sustainable so that we have the resources to continue to build and improve the wardrobe and the other areas of the site and focus our staff creative energy building those long term goals. We're starting to reach out to users that we would like to be involved in this council this week, but if you would like to put your name in the ring please send me a smail with what you think you'll be able to bring to the above discussions. We're looking for people passionate about the CW market, from someone who just has an interest in custom wearables to someone who has submitted hundreds of items to the site.

The outfits page has been given a boost, with lots of new features!

➕ You can now browse publicly saved outfits!
➕ You can now search by username!
🔜 Autocomplete that field. Right now you have to fully type the correct username ☹️
➕ You can set your outfits between public and private. Your public outfits will show up in the public view!
➕ You can add items to your avatar from outfits without needing to put the whole thing on
📈 You can search by "most popular" which will show avatars that have been viewed and shared the most on the forums!
🧑 The very start of user profiles are coming together! You can click on the user who owns an outfit, and then the "view all outfits" directly from that page
🔜 A "block" showing recently public created avatars, and removing all of the fake stuff from that page. No real design for this yet
💬If you share the URL for your outfit, non-logged in Subeta users can view it! (this isn't great right now, it doesn't tell them to sign up or anything...)
👍🏼 It will also now have the correct meta tags, so if you drop the link in your discord, it'll show the image of the avatar!
🐛 All of the bugs with hair, and wearing your old outfits, should be resolved!

We've overhauled the subscription system on Subeta, with a new focus on providing monthly plans that aren't centered around getting cash shop credits, but other benefits around the site. We've created four new tiers that progressively get better, with more bonuses around the site.

We're also introducing three perks as part of these plans.

The monthly bonus item will be an item that gets sent out monthly to subscribers (you'll get an event!) or when you first subscribe to a new plan. They're similar in style to the monthly bonus items that you could get for purchasing during a bonus weekend, but will now be delivered monthly to subscribed users.

There has been a lot of confusion around bonus weekends, they are gone for good. Instead, we're hoping to transition to cheaper items in the cash shop and more value for your dollar in the monthly subscriptions. In addition, we're going to start having sales that are not regular, monthly, predictable sales.

The Buddy GA lets you gift a GA to someone from their profile. This will give them 31 days of gold account, which adds on top of their existing time if they already have a GA. You can read more about the buddy GA here.

Finally, we're trying a new prize with the Custom Wearable Voucher. This voucher can be used for any item in the Custom Wearable Shops for 700CSC or under. That makes the $15/m plan a big discount if you're a custom wearable fan!

The vouchers are only redeemable in the custom wearable shops, and we hope will create more energy from purchasing from them!

Note: Both the Buddy Gold Account and Custom Wearable Voucher are account bound, and cannot be traded. You can purchase a CW with your voucher, and then sell it, though!

Soon to come:

• Ability to upgrade or downgrade plans: We've built this, but are trying to put out the least complex version of this new system and add to it as we see it work. We're taking real money here, and want to be safe!


• Bonuses for other areas of the site: Pets creators, battlers, we're not ignoring you! The reason that we aren't launching with bonuses for subscribing for more than a month is we're sure that the benefits on these plans are going to change based on user feedback, and what we see over the first month. As we watch the plans, we'll be adding to them (more likely than taking away) for other areas of the site.


• Bonus for subscribing for 6 months or a year: See above!

Existing Subscriptions: We had an existing subscription service set up called subscribe & save that we are shutting down. If you had a subscription you can cancel it with no cost to yourself, or keep it running! We won't be accepting any more subscriptions in this system.

Boring business details

Moving to more monthly recurring revenue gives us a much greater ability to forecast our income, and make better choices. Right now Subeta income happens either during sales or during the one week a month we'd reduce the price of CSC, which tells us a lot! We hope that these plans provide a little more "bang for buck".

The lowest plan is just $3 a month, and it's a tier that really means supporting Subeta. It takes a lot of money to keep the site running, the illustrators drawing and the UAs answering tickets, and even just $3 a month means keeping the lights on both as a stream of revenue and also a show of support.

These subscriptions are a first step to a more major cash shop overhaul, which will include reduced prices on custom wearables (both submitting and purchasing) and reducing the price of individual items or making them part of monthly packages. We're also working to create more "cosmetic" type items on the site (avatar borders, user icons, things like that - we aren't reinventing the wheel!) that we can make prizes for completing things on the site.

Let's get the hard news out of the way: on July 20, the legacy shop page will no longer be available. This page will instead be redirected to the move-to-vault tool. This move is necessary because the page cannot be maintained any longer.

We will not automatically move items from legacy shops to vault yet, but this is something we've discussed for the future. We won't do this without giving y'all plenty of heads up!

We plan on making it so you can move things from account search and complete quests with legacy shop items. These features will be available on July 24.

The third Neugarten is here, I'm still running it (as getting away from fast-food induced nightmares is the BEST), and Uncle Gunter is still incarcerated. I've visited a few times, the old guy is trying to make amends and all but it's still pretty surreal. Anyway, enough about my personal troubles and on to some good things!
